I think it can still be called Team ID. Player ID is just a nice name for player-specific attributes and animations. A Team ID could be their team specific tactical attributes/quirks.

From Facebook last night:

PES ID is back in Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 and it's never been better! By capturing each player’s full ID, players will be recreated and will be instantly recognized for their individual animations and AI and ***** goes even further to capture the basic playing ethos and style of entire teams *****.

(I put the *s in 'cause I'm a cock and don't know how to make things bold).

god no

that should be determined through players and tactics. teams dont have pre-supposed 'IDs'.

Well, that is one of PES's design flaws: positional cards should belong to teams, not players. I won't explain why, it would lead to an off-topic. And even if it was designed like this, it wouldn't be accurate either. Bottom line is, it's not that simple to solve.

By the way, one thing that needs a complete overhaul is the tricks and skills system. It is easily the worst designed feature the game presents nowadays.
I'm glad that, by the look of the videos, turns are more oiled and include nice v-shaped movements.

A Team ID could really be a name for (much) deeper tactical options. Wish I could play against Barcelona (CPU) and have them actually play like Barcelona.

Well..

Oh my God, how amazing is it going to look on PC then - especially once the modders have got stuck in! I should be fine:

Mobo: GA-P35-S3
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66Ghz
GPU: AMD HD 6850 1GB
RAM: 4.Gb Corsair DDR2
Sound: Audigy 4
O/S: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium

Possible upgrade later this year - I think I might need it for Rome 2. :)

More than enough horsepower for Pes. No problem.

Edit: Then again this New Engine may need more horsepower. If that's the case the PS3 and X360 may likely stutter because they were already pushing it before the New Engine. But I'll gladly upgrade my PC to play this game smoothly at 60fps.

yes, its a tactics problem. imagine if Football Manager-esque tactics were implemented, for example

tacticandformationuh5.jpg

PES has forever, since its ISS roots has always had a very in-depth tactics system. They just don't talk about it and market it hardly at all so you have to do all the learning and experimenting for yourself.

Its not going to be near football manager, that game is all tactics, because, well, you don't 'play' you 'manage' so it needs to be so crazy with depth. The irony being PES has most of that shown there in Football manager except (zonal marking/target man/playmaker).

Explore it, to the full capacity.

The only issue is we need to as a community like we have been making all the tactics for teams ourselves, though experimenting and understanding what is there. It takes a long time, and when you consider the amount of managerial sackings that happen and how much teams change their tactics and styles year upon year, its not a easy thing to do and get sorted, then take into account all the new players and their specific roles every year.

How the hell are Konami going to do 'Team ID' for Manchester united? How the hell will they play with Moyes this season? Same with Manchester City? We don't know, but we as a community can create this using the depth that is already there.

They replicate them, but not fully, they do not hold on to possession for long. If you look at the match stats, Madrid (the player) actually has more possession 55%-45%

1. Play longer matches for that to happen.

2. It depends on your tactics also, if you play normally or push up with an attacking formation, they will just look to counter you. Don't expect them to hold the ball for the very sake of it, if they see a space, Xavi etc.. will exploit it, one of the reasons they keep so much possession is because 90% of teams just stick 11 behind the ball, even with a counter attacking formation they stick numbers behind then press high.

You can see this in the game, Ricky likes to attack with Madrid, he was leaving a lot of space in behind for Barca just to exploit.

You can't expect Barca to dominate a 10/15 minute game with possession (which they can and have done to me a few times, with say 55/45 possession etc..), you wouldn't have any chance. If you want Barca holding onto possession for ages, you will see that in 30 minute matches. I mean if Barca do what they normally do in 10/15 games, half the game would go by with them trying to create one chance. You hav people complaining and issues where players would play Barca with the score being 0-0, with the entire match centred about about 4-5 Barca chances in 10 minutes

Barca do replicate very well on PES 2013 for 10/15 minutes, there is still much room for development but its great how it is and it very much does its job. (These are the settings I made, not default Konami ones.)

'Team ID' has been in PES for years, With some stability in programming hopefully in the future we can look forward to creating tactics being programmed into managers in master league and training ground routines which seem to be these new 2014 developments being put in, along with added depth to what is already there.

I think if anything it would be an aesthetics things if brought in, because the tactics are there.

I'd like to get a new case anyway - so if I have to upgrade, that'll be the perfect excuse. :)

The real competition this year is between PES 2014 and Fifa 14-Next-Gen-version.

Currentgen-Fifa14 seems like it won't stand a chance.

Makes sense. Though it seems like it would take the player to play realistically aswell to achieve a "realistic" match. We know that in real life, players do not constantly sprint due to stamina. If PES 2014 were to have a realistic stamina system, that would force the player to play realistically, non-sprinting constantly, and making better plays.

Thankfully the AI in 2014 looks better so far, passing back when under pressure, not always going for goal, slow build-up play, passing than trying to deke an opponent(s) (though not all the time, just in real life).

not buying it. teamplay variation in pes 2013 is horrible. every team tackles > long pass > 1v1. no variation. barca plays nothing like barca, no team has a distinct style.

I'm guessing you haven't seen this yet, right?

Somehow, if the reason you listed is the reason to not buy the game, I feel bad for you. What you just described is FIFA over the years. This years PES looks massively improved. Then again, by the word 'buy' you may actually mean 'believe'. If that's the case then disregard the first line. Regards.

Was it really confirmed that the game will run in 1080p even on consoles (Ps3 and Xbox 360) ? If so, that is magic!

I support Matty's argument.
In terms of real, organic gameplay awareness, PES currently involves two players (attacker and defender) while the rest adapt by a quite basic positional script. In addition, the engine constantly messes the teams defensive lines in order to create space, which intends to create the illusion of and organic, adaptative situation going on at times.
This leads to a quite repetitive scheme of play.

Add Matt's equation into the mix (players contextual awareness), and you get a sense of where the deep PES limitations lie.

This years's game looks amazing, as we can see on the videos. But as long as the developers don't reconstruct the deeper foundations, I'm afraid the game could, in time, somehow play more or less the same.
Whatever they are doing right now, I hope they really get their hands dirty.

It might be similar to the "1080p" mode in GT5 (1280x1080). The PS3 can't move Full HD games with this level of detail.

Yep, I know PS3 can't handle it, but if the image is as sharp as in GT5 then :WORSHIP:

PES 2012-2013 image quality on PS4 is crap, a bit blurry.

From what i've seen on some pics from playtests, people have been playing on PS3 so it should good (it has a photo of DS3 layout).

the teams in all pes games this gen only play badly because their default settings are all set the same way, as always all of us in the editing community can easily fix the problem as we all have done for years, as i said in an earlier post its just down to laziness on konamis part and a lack of football knowledge that they dont know how each idividual team plays and set their formations and tactics accordingly. the tactics are there in all the games to set up ALL teams to play as realistic as the real teams do. PES has always been the deepest football game on the market in terms of what you an actually do to set up your team and play whatever style you want

i would like to see just 1 video of a game in which the AI play as barca, like barca, in pes 2013

Do we have any idea of PC specs yet?

I have a pretty old pc, (dual core)
my card.. ATI 4600 512MB :))
anyway, I can play Dead Space 3 for example, nearly the maximum

I hope not to have problems with pes 2014

batman arckham city, crysis, tomb raider...only these games have had problems

And we will continue to not change clubs in ML -.-

I hope that's not true; that would represent a significant negative as far as I'm concerned. Not enough to stop me buying it though; Fifa 14 looks too similar to Fifa 13 - both graphics (obviously) and gameplay.
