So Seabass was quietly put out to pasture then? I remember last year there was speculation he was secretly working on the FOX engine version of PES.

That impression is a nice little read. Its good to hear that physical size will work in accordance with stats to create realistic tackles and jostling for the ball. Hopefully, this will makes games such as Barca vs. Madrid much more realistic, with one team being more physical and the other more nimble and speedy.

A note on the FK system (i would think that corner kicks are also effected), anyone notice its pretty much the system used in Football Kingdom?

Slap in the face:
XaVi ‏@Xavi_TRINIBarca 7 sa
@Adam_Bhatti That's encouraging. Now just for the gameplay speed to remain as it is. That will finalize my preorder.

@Xavi_TRINIBarca that will stay, as everyone who found it too slow we told them we have a game speed setting.

Happy to see that post.Only one thing that could ruin this beauty is changing the realistic aspects to more arcade ones based on noob's feedbacks.

That was my tweet he answered. lol (B^|) Btw, why does the Football Kingdom vid above have better net physics than any other football game to date?

tbh i dont really like this system, so every ball will go with every player where i want now??

Im not to fond of it aswell, but it makes sense. When a player takes a FK or a corner, they usually aim for a target, whether specific area or player. Assuming a player knows how to properly curl the ball, that can employ some strategy as opposed to a simple straight moving ball.

Im hoping that stats will help the success rate of our FK and corners as getting it exactly where we want it all the time is really unrealistic.

Nice write-up here: http://playstationer.net/2013/06/14/pes-2014-e3-hands-on-impressions/

A little snippet:

It look like MASS isn't just for aesthetic or gimmick. You can utilize it to your advantage (or disadvantage).

Read the rest of the article by clicking on above link. It's quite detailed.

It's been more then clear that MASS isn't a gimmick mate. I think it has influence in "everything physical" in the game.

If it was EA, every single mechanism about this system would have been detailed and announced as revolutionary.

Id like to see Team ID introduced as well as Player ID.
The teams play nothing like they do in real life and thats annoying.
Barca dont play the long ball or quick attack they play patient football so id like to see this is PES14

I'm impressed. Now if they could just announce that pes2014 is the end of shifty English commentary, we're golden. Getting tired of hearing the same boring crap over and over. With that said..more licenses would be helpful.

Who cares about licenses. Waste of money... The PC modding community makes that a non-issue. I'd rather they spend their money/time on gameplay and graphics improvement.

This is what i seen in the first E3 video.

For fans of the series who had gripes with the keepers, there is a lot of very positive improvements in this department but first I’ll start with the negatives, which were minimal. In fact my only real issue with them was with the keeper-charge when the ball/opposition were outside the box. If you find yourself in a one-on-one situation with a striker and you are rushing out with your keeper, I felt the keeper didn’t quite know how to react, ie. he didn’t make a slide attempt but more-so just ran out to the striker and kind of stood infront of him.

Is this is not fixed then the game is broken still in 1 on 1 situations.

From Plambey's write-up @ Playstationer:
Freekicks have also been reworked and now require the use of two analogue sticks, with one stick dictating the direction you approach the ball from and the other focusing on where you strike the ball with your foot, allowing you to curl the ball like Beckham or cut across the ball like Roberto Carlos. They initially take some getting used to but a guide can be turned on and off using R1 allowing you to fully understand the intricacies of striking the ball different ways.

This sounds awesome! I can see why the guide is there, it sounds like it would be a nightmare at first without it.

Wondered why there was a dotted line on freekick in some screenshots, sounds like it would set up a lot more organic situations.

Really more hyped about this after those impressions. Sounds top draw, especially the physical stuff. Football games have been crying out for a proper representation of physical players, Football Manager only managed it last year, hopefully I can slam Messi into oblivion now. Or at least be able to hold up play using targetmen without requiring evasive footwork.

The most outstanding thing is that 8 months ago, on a game that went by the name of "PES2013", the closest thing you had to a physical challenge was the stumbling animation :FAIL:

IIRC, in Japanese culture, firing people isn't very common, unless it's absolutely necessary.. Instead, they recolocate them into another department (Seabass is now working on that Facebook game, isn't he?

are we likely to see any advances in multiplayer?

i would like some form of clubs or team play

Possibly, all that stuff is for a later date as all the focus will be on the new engine and gameplay at the moment.

Wait for Gamescom were they'll likely announce all the modes and features.

Okay. Thanks for info. The new team really seem to have their fingers on the pulse. I am not missing Seabass personally. :P

The new lighting system on PES2014 appears very impressive in some videos. Finally they seem to have grass of the Euro pitches the right colour too, not some looking like turf from some arid climate.

Of course gameplay is the thing. But still it's very nice to see all these other little improvements that have been overlooked for donkey's.

Not more licences, but more content. Any way Konami can find to expand the game off the pitch will help them enormously; be that empty league slots, or DLC microtransactions to help them secure some real extra leagues. Seriously, if Konami can find a way to make their 'Career Mode' as deep as EA's then there's just no competition. As you said, licences are not important: the modders will take care of that in a jiffy, but modders can't add extra leagues as far as I know - I'd love to be wrong about that.

For me, PES' six league limit is by far the weakest thing in the series.

On the pitch, PES 14 is impressing me a lot. Compared to Fifa 14, the pace is spot on. The daytime lighting is fantastic (and I'm sensing proper dynamic lighting - look at those floodlights on during the day with the shadow indicating early evening). The night time lighting is just as good. The stadiums look fantastic, the crowd looks fantastic, the AI appears excellent, the animation is improved beyond sight and I love the sound of how the crowd will be properly dialled into the flow of the game now.

I can't wait to get my hands on the demo; when does that usually show up these days?

Fifa? From what I've seen so far, the defending is just as bad, the speed is still too fast, the celebrations are the same stupid crap. I haven't seen much of 'NG' just yet, but the impressions at EA Forums are that this is PES' year regardless of which version of Fifa it's being put up against.

Incidentally, have any changes been made to PES version of 'Gameface'? The way I remember it, all you had to do was stick your face in the template, and that was it! No fiddling about with dots, no hopping from game to website and out there on the pitch it looked exactly like my head had been stuck on top of a footballer's body. Amazing. Hopefully it still works the same way now, because it didn't need any changes at all!

Some of the people who are now blabbering about "the king being back" tend to forget that the game became "king" because of Seabass...

Seabass is still there working close to PES Productions Team. That's what KONAMI have said on Twitter.

True that :))

I remember he once said that impressed by FIFA's engine. I do think that he at one time in the past want to have more resources to make a new engine. But everything was quite late, just think a bout fox engine by Kojima Production. The application of it is just opened to media this year with MGS V.

In addition, not all of decisions related to resources are merely seabass' himself. Talking about Konami's board member.
