I don't think it's that literal. There's no reason whatsoever why the animation mechanics can't be the same. Obviously overall physics need to be different on a football game.

Don't ask me, the Edge article said that Pes will only use graphics elements of Fox Engine
 
They would never waste time simulating advanced drag in the Fox engine, it's up to the PES team to extend the physics. Same with the animation system. Other games don't need advanced physics based animations, they rather use the CPU power on other things.
 
It's nearly obvious by now that we will get great graphics, animation and physics with PES 2014. This is great, and I feel happy that finally PES will get some really advanced tech in those areas.

But I'm curious if we will get similar advancements regarding AI, cause imho even more than lacklustre graphics/animations/physics the limited AI is what keeps PES back.

haha.. yes referee's decision in pes 2013 is so boring.. i think it's been like this since pes series moved to nextgen in 2008.

Random/unpredicted decision is fine to keep real world atmosphere in a game. But in current PES, it is still quite dissapointing..
 
Oh c'mon stop putting all the blame on that poor ugly duckling 2008. It did get last man red cards right at least :P

I thought the full reveal was at E3 but some kind of infos before like screenshots or press release
