Well, not really; a decent performance by the Japanese National team has nothing to do with whether Konami (or other Japanese people) know how to make a football game.

They can't do worse than the Canadian lot's 14, that's for sure.

If the ability of the national team correlated with the ability to make a football game, EA should quit now!

So if somebody is Canadian, he hasn't the necessary feeling about football ?

We Belgians consider ourselves the equivalent of Brazil in cycling.
Until 15 years ago most Belgian cycling fans would have laughed with Brittish cyclists...they know better now...

gerd if any of these posters had a lue then they might not say such stupid things. I mean rockstar cant make a game about gangsters from LA cause there from london. it would probably suck and be the worst game of all time

Everything from passing to shooting should be stat based.. without a stat based system you don't have the hallmark of the PES series: individuality!

Way to twist a quote and over-dramatic. He was just joking.

I often heard the argument about the Japanese (Konami) can't make a decent football game because their league sucks and supposedly too oblivious to European brand of football coming from the nay-sayers.

Slow news day, forgive me for posting something unrelated to the game.

@zeemessi let me know how you get on pressing R1 in PES 2014 when you finally play. Like to see you try and run all the time.

I know his role require him to deal with ton of stress and to be active on social media as a requirement pile the pressure even more. However i genuinely think he could do with some anger management. He don't have to view everybody as potential 'threat'.

He isn't the first to talk about FIFA being made by Canadians...
This thread is unbelievable in it's bias, generally most people think (both) games far too serious...And the argument ons reads here are fantastic, like the guy who thought that football games sell more in the UK than in South America....

There really is electricity in South America, Asia and Africa.... Countries like Brazil, China and India are economical super powers...

But that's the majority of the "premier league'rs" for you, they think they're right in the center of the football universe.

Is that not the case....?

I'd be interested to see numbers. From what I understand, the second-hand market is much more prevalent in the Tiger economies for games. Hence why FIFA 14 is still being produced for the PS2. I'd be very surprised if there were more people in Brazil who bought PES 2013 compared to in the UK.

You can´t be serious, right?

Brazil is the second country that have more PES 2013 sold, loosing only to Japan, and UK is not even in the top 10.

PES2012 and PES2013 were the 2 games more sold in Brazil in 2012, including PS3 and XBOX360. So the market in South America is much favorable to Koanmi than in UK, maybe that´s why we have a licensed Brazilian League (and in 2014 an Argentine and Chilen league) while the UK have a non-licensed league :P

Brazil is where it's at yo.

I hope we have an average of one player sent off every two games, as well as an average of three yellows cards per game.

Proevolutionsoccerbrasil doesn't seems reliable to me. Beside openly disapproved by Adam on twitter, they're also the one that responsible for spreading false news about PES 2014 demo and some other unconfirmed news (lacking quote, original source). Because of these, i consider them as nothing more than a blog rather than a news sources.

For accurate detail like sales figure, region sales, you need to refer to Konami annual or quarter report. Usually this kind of information is available on the company corporate site. And yes, vgchartz is vague as well.

i can't see much difference between patched pes 2013 and pes 2014 night lighting , where's the fox engine graphical power , if the same result can be achieved on the current engine by some modding

UK = FIFA. I have so many UK friends and they won't even consider buying Pro Evo, because.. It's shit (even if they haven't played it once in their life, they will say it's shit).

FIFA = Premier League exclusive deal. It comes with some bonuses too. Pro Evo can't offer such things and some people can't be arsed to download patches /kits, etc.

Can't blame them.

@Butterfly: You can't blame the fox engine for this. Fox engine supports the mechanism but the artists determine the quality. Even some user-made stadium has better lighting than any of Konami's in PES2013.

I'm sure in my country, Indonesia. More people buy football games than in UK. Unfortunately many people also buy pirated stuff instead of the original ones (because of the price and/or not so many shop which sells games here except in a big city.)

I don't know what exactly from Fox Engine's graphical power you expect to see on a wide-cam screenshot that's blurried out to death because it's a photoshop mockup that used a screenshot taken out of a streaming video of a live event. It's like you hand picked it lol.

The video from PES 2013 is oversaturated, too bright, unnatural colors.

Enough? It's ugly. ;)

it's the effect of video rendering , i have this turf patch and it corrects the stupid konami lighting of pes 2013 and it makes the game looks on bar with pes 2014 e3 lighting
u can check the patch screenshots here , it far from being "oversaturated"

it looks on bar "if not better" than what we supposed to get with the new engine

if u look to the above screen , pes 2014 sceen is the one that looks "overstaurated"

PES used to be big in the UK. It was the game of choice for the more discerning football gamer before the 360/PS3 era.

Licences are of course a big factor in why FIFA outsells PES so comprehensively in the UK, even during the PS2 days. Back then PES sold itself on gameplay, animations, realism and immersion. Konami only have themselves to blame for losing that foothold. They presented EA with an open goal.

Hard to expect massive graphics overhaul, since its current gen game still. I care alot more about animations variety and smoothness, when speaking about visual impression.

@Butterfly: Why are you comparing a blurry night lighting screenshot with a 0 shadows day lighting screenshot?

PES 2014 day lighting looks stunning, the zoomed out screenshots almost look like a real picture.

Night lighting isn't perfect but it's certainly much better than everything else before.

But overall lighting is much better than PES2013

If anything you have a point about one thing, turfs still look very bland and detail-less. But at least pitch colors look good.

much appreciated some mates bring pictures from my turf patch here , but c'mon this is unfair comparing them to the fox engine lol , at the end of the day these are not more than some graphical modding of an old engine that are nowhere near the pes 2014 graphics , and i said before next versions of pes won't need any turf patches any more."and i'm very happy for that" ,i just hope they work abit more on the night lighting until release even they still look so good in the gameplay video .

The lighting in 2013 is superior to 2014? Bwahaha.

well, how much nonsense do we need to read on this thread about (patched) pes 2013 graphics being better than pes 2014 alpha build?

i simply cannot understand some people here...
