I think form is needed, but should be less arbitrary. In real life players have peaks of form during the season, so I want that in the form arrows. How can a player have red arrow and the next game have a purple arrow. Just don't make sense.

@Northzzz what you want is there, in the form of heart/motivation, but atm i does not work very well in the form arrow system. Players get more motivation if they score an hat-trick, etc, but is via the heart feature and not from the form arrows.

Agree it doesn't make sense to score a hattrick or get MOTM then down form the next game.

Maybe the heart system if improved on would be a better option

Heart system is the solution. But have to be logical. As you said if a player score a hattrick, should get red color and start the next game with very good psychology. Like "form" on Football Manager.

One thing I have noticed in the last PES 2014 update is that the "chip shot" doesn't have the same realistic animation as it did prior to the update. I've tried to get this animation with LB+X no to avail.

Anyone else noticed this?

That's true. Does it carry over games, or does it simply affect each individual match (say if a player scores in the first 20 minutes, and then his states go up for the remaining 70?)

I've played the game a lot, I still don't know how it works.

It works from game to game. But I believe it works also during a match. That's what Konami was selling in the summer (but that is not much, as we know). I noticed that when a player goes for a FK, CK, GK the colour of the dotted line - yellow when he is motivated and white when not - sometimes changes from half to half. But is no definite prove.

Form and heart system must be different. A hat-trick has to make the player's heart increase, but for me the form has to be independent relative to performance. For example, a in a World Cup final all the players should have a good heart - except maybe someone who had have a bad tournament (lacks confidence) - but the form can be a bit poorly, since is the end of a long season, etc, even if the player has a good semi-final.

For me the form shouldn't arbitrary like it is today, but rather logical, some players had their peak in January, others in March, and others in October, etc. Will be more realistic IMO.

I believe in the heart system, it's a good idea, just have to be improved.

PES (espacially with 1.10) has many good elements and feel like football. However there are some other staff, like passing system, rails, shooting, GK that make the game looks dated.

I need PES 2015 to fix those things.

yup, yup, running to chase the ball in rails hopefully to be reduced/shortened.

I think the heart nd form arrows are randomly generated. I think form arrows have been since PES2012 - oddly at the same time as the graphics took a big hit in performance over previous games. Maybe they couldn't add proper form in because they've clearly had troubles with PS3 and 360 all along. So it makes perfect sense that they then try to pile the heart system on top of a form arrow system that already didn't work.....

Its daft that they do that. They need to be sure they fix the foundation for NG - not pile more onto a broken core.

Like I have said a 100 times the is no shame in giving a complete product even if its smaller im terms of game modes or tons of aesthetics that only look good on the game cover

100% agree with You. Pes 2014 mechanics look 1000 times better than in Pes 5 :BOP:

I think the release of PES2015 on PS4/XBO/PC will be absolutely fascinating. On the one hand they absolutely need to get the basics right, on the other hand the game has become so stripped down that it's gonna seem woeful on next-gen unless they radically improve the game - and by that I mean game modes, features like form, heart etc.

Konami are gonna find that on new hardware, people are going to be expecting a whole lot more, and if they release a ML for example with nothing to do except playing the game (I mean there's not even a proper transfer system any more) then its going to look really bad for Konami. There's so much Konami can do with the game modes that don't even require licensing, so it will be interesting to see how much attention they pay to stuff like form, ML mode etc.

Some people here didn't play PES 5 or pay too much attention to the graphics. Pes 5 gameplay is awesome, the best football game ever. Pes 2014 may be closer to the real football, but it's not a fun game. Pes 5 had the balance right between simulation and arcade. I don't think the pure simulation vision is the way to go for PES.

But that is only your opinion, I for one love the simulation route Konami is going with Pes. In fact I think to be still a bit too much arcade at the moment.

Simulation doesn't mean it is joyless.

Yes, it's my opinion but i know many pes fans share the same opinion.
Pes 2014 try to be realistic. But sorry it doesn't succeed well in that. One example is the atrocious scripting.

For PES to have a place in the market it needs to offer something different to FIFA. EA Sports have absolutely nailed a fast-paced, addictive experience that hooks people in.

If Konami try to mimick that they will just fall short as the target audience will never accept it. They need to go the opposite direction and offer something completely different, attracting an alternative type of player.

PES should be the ARMA to FIFA's Call of Duty.

For me PES 14 isn't really much of anything. The engine behind it is solid, but there's a really lack of variety in how games pan out which kills it for me. In fact despite FIFA being more arcade orientated, I still reckon it offers more simulation depth in terms of goal variety, differences in team styles, and impact of attributes.

No lol it doesn't imo

Surprised people feel this way I didn't get any of that from Fifa NG Infact it pushed me back to PES.

But I agree Konami need to find their target market and go for it all in

Finally got time to test this last patch poperly. My conclussion is that Konami have surrender to those who want it easy and fast. Previous to this patch, PES2014 was a master piece of simulation, where you had to work for everything from shooting to defending; now it is quite easy to do all these things, and the game has become an arcade piece of shit. Before patch you could see some great goals from outside the box, not every game ovbiously, like in real life; now you see 2 or 3 of them in every game. The low pass to forward is the new "break all the realism" way of playing. The only things they have fixed well are the runs and inertia. Excepting this, the rest is all broken, is not the game it used to be any more. And it was such a great game, what a pity.

Not sure if you played the game pre patch, but that was arcade IMO. R1 plus a through ball and bob's your uncle. You now have to build up play, as the previous method isn't possible anymore.

All the back and forth in the last years that they did with patching and the demos and full releases shows one thing, they have no clear direction where to go with the game, and you can see it and feel it directly.

And the whole "community" thing that started a few years ago is a fine example with this, never let the players have an impact on what you do, it really is a bad sign for a developer, you only can fail doing that, and please no excuses here, we all know it, it may work for a tiny little hardcore fan-base, let's say a tactical FPS PC shooter or so, but not for a football game with fans all over the globe, not with an Japanese developer anyway.

edit
For me personally, it's not the same developer as it used to be, very different, and very different game.

I have played four seasons of ML with three different clubs, and I don't think I can carry on with it. It really is becoming repetitive, and boring. Are they ever going to nail ML again?!
