Not sure if you played the game pre patch, but that was arcade IMO. R1 plus a through ball and bob's your uncle. You now have to build up play, as the previous method isn't possible anymore.
I´m not sure about scripting anymore.
In previous versions I really had that feeling that the CPU just doesn´t want me to win.
Now I´m playing the ML and tested a few games.
Specially final games like CL finals, worldcup finals (which was great fun actually) seem to be scripted as my players didn´t really react and I felt like I could do whatever I want, even if I try as hard as I can, I just can´t defend the attacks of the CPU.
When I lost that final games, I shut it down and played them games again.
The game was different, means, I could beat the CPU or got draws at least which led to penalty shootouts.
So I´m not sure if scripting is really present.
I focussed very hard, only set up players with good heart motivation AND I´ve used man marking on strikers and offensive players on the wings.
It still was a challenge but the game didn´t feel like NO MATTER HOW I PLAY, I`LL LOSE.
I replayed those matches and the scores where always different.
I play on top player and don´t use a gameplay patch.
First of all, i really like the game. Iliked it pre-patch (last one) and love it afterwards.
But i do have the feeling that there is some scripting (well, a lot of it sometimes).
I have been playing the new game mode (world challenge ?). South-American qualifiers with Chili on top player. Full manual.
I'm doing very well with winsagainst the big teams, but i was twice totally outplayed by Bolivia. They had 65 %of possession. First match, somehow i managed a draw (i had been 0-2 up totally against the game, but Bolivia scored two very late goals).
Second match Bolivia starts (home team) and they score with their first ataack. After 15 minutes i was 3-0 down and scarcely touched the ball. I stopped the game and restarted (yes, i cheat when i smell something wrong, at that moment "cheating" becomes "testing" ). I played that game 7 or 8 times and each every time i was totally outplayd by Bolivia no matter what tactics i used. In the end i managed to get a 1-1 draw with more luck than wisdom or ability...
I don't mind loosing games. I don't mind loosing gamens against weaker opponents. I don't even mind loosing a game against a lesser team where i am totally outplayed (something that isn't realistic). What i do mind is that the CPU cheats. My players couldn't pass the ball for 2 metres...passes went totally astray, ball controls failed (and that while the GK was fantastic, not one single GK error).
When i loose i want to loose because of my mistakes, not because the CP takes over and cheats...
It doesn't happen all the time, but once in a while..but even that is too much for me. Other than that i'm enjoying this immensily.I had given up on PES after2012 and 2013, but this is good. Oh and it is better than PES5, much better.I replayed that game on my sons' PS2 and PES2014 is much, much better (but Konami did strip down the game too much, this game needs to be customizable, more feautures, more game modes, etc...).
I said that point is the only thing they'd actually fixed. For the rest, Konami has ruined the game.
at least I'm not alone in my scripting conspiracy lol.
No need for a conspiracy, modders showed for years now what is going on, it's a matter of fact.

That’s just because every game is different, and player's form play a major part.Thought so, when I played Pro Evo years ago with a friend it was even there when we played against each other, he would win a couple of games easily then I would win the next couple easily which made no sense as we were using the same teams same tactics and players!
Oh, did they find a giant script or was it just that CPU ratings were boosted on higher difficulties? Because the latter is completely unremarkable.

As for scripting, FGS it's a video game; everyone has a certain degree of scripting. Your are playing against the CPU, not a human. There is some much more that you CAN do, that they CAN’T do. I still didn't play the new patch (PC gamer), so I cannot speak for that, but the scripting in PES 2013 was bigger than in 2014. And by that I mean, on the corner kicks and free kicks there were times and you almost know the CPU will score. Other than that, the CPU cheats in some games, but that does not mean you cannot win. It means that your players normally look a bit tired, or disinterested (not going for every ball like they normal would) or the CPU are extra motivated, it looks like they get a stats' boost, etc. You can still win those games. Restarting the game shows a different result in most cases (smaller loss, draw or win). You just have to adapt your tactics and style of play to that particular game. I know it's frustrating, but I comprehend and even like it, simple because it's Konami's ways of mimic those real life games in which your team are struggling, the players are "not there" mentally, which every team (just watch Chelsea this year) passes through a course of season.
I think you're taking me up wrong on this. If you look at what I said a few posts back I actually said that there has to be scripting and it's not a human!
I don't have a problem with it I enjoy the game so I don't know what the lecture is for.
I'm not one of those people that says I have to win or I'm bringing my ball home.
I wouldn't stop the game and restart because of scripting either. . .. .I just laugh at the way it's done and get on with it.
You can tell when it's about to happen and believe me you cannot win if the CPU dictates that it cannot be.
The same sort of scripting in it is very similar but not as blatant as PES 2013. The point I was making about playing a friend years ago was that we would set both sides to all green form arrows but the CPU would favour one of us and then switch it a few games later.
It's not going to make me throw my controller out the window and go into a huff and slag the game off. Relax I'm not complaining, just an observation.
Sorry man, I mistake you for another user. That scripting talk gets on my nerves a little bit.
Compared to Fifa (last time I play was 2011 or 2012), PES barely got any scripting (for me it seems, that they decide if my shot goes in or not, and the crosses, just hit the button and IA will decide where will goes). You have tones of freedom, both tacitly and individually. Ex: People that complain that the GK's defend everything, some games I cannot score, etc. try using the advance shooting; the ball goes exactly on the area that you want. For me personally there's always a way. You may not get it, but that's always a way to beat the CPU on these games.
PS: this may be different after I play the new patch.
When we´re gonna play online again, zee? Did you get scared after loosing 6 x 0 last time?

I also think there is some scripting going on to help the CPU. Things like dragging back my defender or not allowing me to select one when I need it...
It's needed because the CPU AI is just not good enough to pose a challenge.
Hopefully on next gen the Cpu won't need that sort of help.
Bully.

Compared to Fifa..
There you go, don't make such mistakes , rather look back to the glorious PES days and compare.
