Nice goals cire.
All you have to do now is waiting for one of the usual suspects to tell us how bad the defending is.

This is the ultimate poor argument. In the end all goals are the result of poor defending. Everybody justly raves about Maradonna's wc1986 wonder goal except the English at the time, to them it was poor defending....

Thanks Gerd. haha...tbh..I sometimes struggle against the AI defending :P
Maybe I'm not that fantastic a player. But I have fun, sure there will be always be some frustrations and quirks. but which game doesn't. Gamers will always find something to pick on :P

I think so too, need to play more to confirm. They did something about the shot power too or I'm executing the press shoot once to set power and press again on contact method correctly. Regarding this method, its a tad not so intuitive for me, it's like testing my reflexes lol. If this is the new way of shooting, I don't quite understand why Konami took this approach. Maybe because the ball and the player are considered different entities and this is to simulate the "freedom" per se.
 
Manual shooting is freaking awesome tbh. I love the pace on it still major room for improvement though with regards to animations and outcomes. The are too few variances.

I tried manual passing lastnight and have to say it's too slow. Like the challenge but if I had more control on the pace of passes I would be happier

Shooting and player switching in PES 2014 are half-baked this year and almost ruin the game for me. Would love to see all players in the game be able to really put their foot through the ball when I want them to. Dodgy player switching has cost me more goals:RANT:
 
Everytime I play pes 2014, I will suddenly stop after :
1. CPU AI does that weird ground cross while he has much better options to pass.
2. CPU AI does that long direct free-kick. Tbh I've never conceded a goal from cpu ai direct free-kick.
3. Two types of positioning inside box during Corner Kick. lol.

Anyway, shooting seems improved from 1.07 patch.

After months of playing this I've come to realize the same thing about the CPU AI. It's generally poor in all areas of the game, especially the in the situation you described. Also of note, is how poor the AI is in regards to your own team mates making sensible attacking runs and the inexplicable way they will just stop running into space even though it would be advantageous to do so.
 
Update! Konami release 4.2 update for PES 2014 PS3 and XBOX360 Addicional files as not released on 4.0. That's why pc version is only on 7th March... :YAWN:
And maybe update 4.2 for pc on Easter day :TUMBLE:

I came late to the party and started with PES6.
Played PES5 afterwards.

Can you imagine how disappointed I was in the last 7 years in autumn time.

Crazy.

I cannot believe in Konami anymore.
 
Dunno why PC section is in separate sub forum. As PS3/X360/PC should be in one group, but it's mods decision.

Now back to main topic. After playing other game titles for some time now, I reinstalled PES 2014 and downloaded latest patch (1.07).

Haven't played any football game for good 4 months to give them time and in the meantime played NBA (in real life and as sports game of choice :)).

I come to sad conclusion. Pro Evolution Soccer is as good as dead. Seriously speaking, I doubt we will ever see proper football game from KONAMI.

The problems people had since release date in September HAVE not been addressed (!!). That's pitiful. Whereas other company moved forward, KONAMI has gone backwards. The PES Team and PES has nothing to offer. New engine? With every patch I wonder how much more crappy can a game start to look. There are 2 things I honestly like in this year Pro Evolution Soccer. It's MASS (aka collision system) and player models. That's it. Those are the only things I do like. Nothing else, as for everything else is better done in other game (not glorification here or exaggeration, check my FIFA 14 views post patch in FIFA section :<).

I wonder if people should give KONAMI as many chances as they have already given them.

Pro-PES people who live in the past, open your eyes and see in what state your beautiful franchise is now. I won't dwell on negatives as there is too many of them and all should be already known (must say, I wanted to do video post 1.07 patch impressions, but... decided not to, as 25 minutes wasn't enough to put all my thoughts into it). Dire situation if I am to say so.

They should start sorting their sh*t out from ground zero. Complete overhaul is needed (pretty much like with NBA Live series). I wouldn't blame them if they decided to go that route and honestly feel PES fans wouldn't mind. PES3-PES5 and PES6 still live on as best games in the series.

Sorry for long post, but I am fuming here and my fuse is off.

There's one thing I hate when it comes to MLO and game updates: you get yourself a good team, looking for cheap and good players. But then, with the update, Konami decides to recalculate players' points and you have to sell some players if you wanna keep on playing. I completely dissagree with this. They should be regarding you for acquiring such players and, consequently, increasing your team's budget instead of depriving it of those players.

So Konami released 3 patches this month. 4.0 then 4.2 to fix 4.0 then 4.3 to fix 4.2

*Insert facepalm here*

Anyway manual shooting on broadcastbis far too higher grade for me. Loving the close camera settings atm. Makes the game harder and much prettier.

The UEFA Best Player In Europe awards have just been given out. First was Arjen Robben of Bayern Munich (lol). In second place: Lionel Messi of Barcelona. And in third: Jean-Paul Boetius of Feyenoord.

Ummmmm... yeah. Jean-Paul Boetius. Of Feyenoord. He's 20 in the game, he's got an OVR of 81, and he's a relatively undistinguished winger in an Eredivisie team that didn't win anything the previous year. Still - he's better than Ronaldo! Better than Ibra! Better than Iniesta! Better than Suarez! Better than Aguero!

Sadly for the Konami version of Jean-Paul Boetius, he can't really savour this unexpected honour, as right now he's a bit preoccupied by the fact that he's changed from a black man into a white man with long greasy hair. It's a bit disorientating, you know.
 
I had the lads over on Saturday night for UFC London, and we played UFC3 and then moved onto some amazing 2v2 player PES 13 action. We then gave PES 14 one last try with the new 1.07 patch. Jesus, this game, in my humble opinion, is an absolute facking disgrace. We had the slowdown issue on 2v2, STILL !! WTF ?!!

The game was truly dreadful, it's the worst PES I have ever played. And that now includes PES 2008. Never, ever again will I touch this piece of shite.

We are all life-long PES fans, die-hards, but we were all, once again, disgusted.

Maybe 1 player v CPU is ok for some, but multiplayer is a joke. The delay makes the game feel soooo sluggish and unresponsive, the balance is pathetic, and the piss poor defensive lines are a shambles.

This is my last ever post on PES 14, I can't even muster up the energy to list all it's faults or even give it the time of day.

So sad that you play on the antiquated sad pice of shit machine....and have to wait 1 year before KONAMI gets a normal PES on a weak but still adequate PS4.
