Friend lent me pes2014 on ps3 to try.
First impressions looks like FIFA. After playing some matches over the last 2 days, I have to say I am not too happy about it
It has some good points but a lot of negative points.
When players run it does not look real life, players appear to be skating.and at times there is a response issue with players under your control. It's as tho they are deciding wether to move before they do it.

But the biggest problem for me is yet again, the piss poor player switching, the game selecting the wrong player or not letting you select the player you want. The other frustrating and irritating thing is yet again the stupid AI that stands still or worse runs away from the loose ball in your own penalty area. This really winds me up and makes me eject the game
,it's so unlike real life football.

As a rating I would give this 5 out of 10. I still prefer pes 2013 to this and that was frustrating as we'll
.
So as they say on dragons den. " for that reason I cannot invest in this, so I am out"

Couldn´t disagree more.
The player animations is one of the most positive facts in PES 2014 imho.
I understand when people don´t get along with other aspects like the response issue, which actually works quite good to me since the latest patch.

But animations? Since I played PES 2014 I can´t stand the robotic animations of PES 2013 anymore. I also find it a lot more realistic than FIFA.

I have to agree, the animations are good. But having played this game for a while now the A.I (for me) is shockingly poor as with the response times and shooting and keepers.
I have gone back to pes 2013 which has shockingly bad animations and decent A.I, shoddy master league. But it has great; deep player individualization. Plus the shooting, manual passing system ain't bad either.

The response time is still a problem, just like GK and the shootinghave to agree with that.
But despite these major flaws i hugely enjoy this game.
My kids prefer the other one (and the other one is better as a game and is very much a finished product, no doubt about that), but to me only PES14 feels like playing football.

I'm playing a ML with Sociedad and most of the goals i have against me are due to poor response times, player switching or GK errors (sometimes all 3 combined, i think of one particular goal that was infuriating), but despite this i'm really submerged in to it. This is the first time since the PS2 days...despite the very obvious flaws, PES2014 might be the best game in the series...what a shame that Konami have treated this game so bad and the fact that the feedback from the community is handled by clowns.

I know what you mean. At times the game can pull you in, to the point where it feels very tactical. It feels like a game of chess at times you have to put a lot of thought into each move before you receive the ball, thinking two or three movies ahead. That's football for you.
I just struggle with all the other stuff that bogs the game down. And as you say, it a real shame.
For me though, the game lacks a touch of individualization in the players, something pes was known for. It's in pes 2013 in a big way, if your willing to wade through all the shit to get to it.

Agreed but I don't have response issues and this is playing with ML defaults.

I am 4 games in and feel is a bit to easy on top player with 1 bar passing and manual shooting. I am running 6-0 scorelines against the likes of Middlesborough, Reading etc.

Is ML just forgiving like this in the first half of the season?
Edit:
Oh yes I am also much better with my key signings in midfield like Bender DMF, Felipe RMF and J.J. Calle....(can't remember his name) LMF others like Gellazca, Stramberg, Minandinho and Vratokov are killing the opposition as well

I'm finding it too easy on superstar on 1 bar passing, unless it's cos I'm playing in the Dutch league. I't's still very enjoyable . . . .some games are absolutely exhilarating and some are run of the mill, but pes has always been like that.

The main thing is it's very playable and enjoyable.

If you want challenge, play with zerobar, manual passing, gamespeed -1 and 25 min match.
Love this setting, love the game.

What errors? The DLC doesn't ask to suppress old OF, that's weird. And i've try with another "virgin" account, i don't see change in data (no brasil transfers, no players added, no change in stats ect.)

Perhaps it's for cost on MLO or "official shirts" changes. I think so because it doesn't touch the new database.

You gotta love the Beethoven bit at the end.

I might try manual passing, I'm already on -1 gamespeed 15 mins superstar and beating most teams. . .. . .not much of a challenge.
25 mins matches?? ffs it takes a half hour for the 15 mins ones, it must take you an hour to play a match, what are the scorelines like? cos on 15mins they are very high!

Playing on 25 min is more challenging and realistic than 15 mins, and I suggest to play on top-player rather than superstar, and not only use zerobar, but also manual shooting as it is more difficult to hit the shot right as it should be.

I'm trying manual shooting but my forwards could'nt hit a cows arse with a banjo at the moment! Have to spend time in training.
