Just played a few games and ended up screaming at tv 'JUST FUCKING SHOOT'

You have a shot, the keeper saves it and it falls to your player with an open goal. Instead of shooting first time he wants to control it, but by the time he does this a challenge comes in.

2nd Half same thing except instead of controlling the ball, what feels like some 30 second animation has to finish off with the player bringing the ball down and dribbling about before he can shoot and by then half the team are in front of him.

That drives me crazy:RANT: Have also said, "Just fucking shoot!" numerous times too:LOL:

It's equally infuriating at the other end of the pitch when one of my defenders fucks about bringing the ball under control when I'm trying to play it clear, only to be dispossessed in front of my goal.

Not sure why NBA 2K always regarded highly in sports forum, particularly football. If you look at their own board, they too have their own sets of problem. And just the other day I posted legit complaints from Reddit about 2K dodgy business decision regarding micro-transactions.

See for yourself,

Broken career mode, VP glitch, missing ankle socks, shoes, poor AI, poor passing, forum full of complaint threads, these doesn't remind you of something? Worst, micro-transactions just to unlock bunch off offline-related stuffs.

When I watch real football highlights all I see is PES2014. I don't think people want realism. The old gen was more arcadey and this appeals too the masses.

The sad part is games like nba2k14 is realism based and their fans love it.

I have always maintained that if Konami really went simulation route it would fail.

I am still enjoying PES2014 with all its faults.

I am too really. There's something about PES, still, that even with its faults captures the essence of football better than the other game. Hard to explain though.

Different strokes for different folks.

We already have game speed. Add sliders to tailor all the various needs.

Profit.

My Premier League save is pretty fun, but there are some mental scorelines going on. 6-4, 5-3 and the like. I'm losing these games as much as winning them. On Top player.

What games on tv have you watched where the lamest kitten paw powered shots possible beat the gk almost every time and the defense stand there watching or worse, run away from the ball? What games have you watched where the players almost never shoot first time from 6 yards out, one team never fouls, never shoots from outside the area and every player is almost identical in their speed/skill level?

Sorry, PES 2014 is beautiful to look at, it really is but not even 6-year olds would watch a real footy game and not see the glaring failings of PES this year.

I'm with you both 100%!!!

My main concern, BTW, it's that Konami is going to take future PES (back) to a more arcady style because it seems to be more popular for masses...

I really hope Konami is going to keep this PES 2014 "direction". I just got the other game for PS4 (which is good), and I always end up going back to PES 2014 despite its flaws. In my opinion, (and despite how frustrating it can be)PES 2014 is the closest thing to the way I feel and understand real football.

Can count with my 100% also !

I could go even further in simulation and make cpu have way more ball retention and possession. It would make the game completly frustrating for most, but i would love it.

I do think there is a big audience out there for a football simulation. I don't think the problem people have with the current PES is that it's trying to be too much of a sim, it's more that it's clearly an incomplete product with pretty major flaws, both on and off the field.

FIFA will remain the much bigger seller in the years ahead because it caters beautifully to the masses with its pick-up-and-play gameplay, licences, game modes, excellent on-line robustness, etc. but football is such a massive sport globally that there is clearly room for PES to flourish commercially. Konami are clearly hellbent on trying to cash in each year, releasing a new edition no matter how incomplete it is and it's not doing much for their credibility, but I hope they continue to pursue the sim approach - one of these years they'll release a beauty.

Its the general flow of the game that is so incredible.

Also just knocking the ball around the park is so satisfying. The weight and physics of the ball are just unmatched.

Just need to work on a few things!

EPL, la liga, serie A and bundesliga. Did you watch the debacle that was the liverpool vs westham match?! Dont know what the hell you talking about with that list of moans.

I agree PES has flaws and it doesnt always translate well from real football clearly but in many cases it does, people are moaning they cant hit 40 yard screamers but go count how many were scored this past week. Yes the keepers are wobbly and parry strangely but responsiveness, momentum and inertia are spot on imo

I'll ask my daughter to check if she can see the faults.

I would agree that pes 2014 is the closest I have seen to real football. Too bad many just complain and not much credit given to the efforts to take the game to a new level. Yes there are problems with the game but I can not comprehend how it can be viewed in such a negative way.

The paramount thing in any game trying to replicate football, for me, has to be getting the ball physics spot on. From there on the whole flow of games and players movement will have its "source". Everything in a football game behaves according to the ball positioning and behaviour. You get that right, you´ll get almost everything.

I did love pes 14 demo, and first showings. It really brings new, beautiful things to the mix, realistic ones. But then, the poor AI, the unbalanced keepers, the input lag, player awareness to the ball and dangers, the unrealistic shooting and the whole unfinished feel to the complete package just overwhelms the few good things it does have.
And don´t get me started on how it promotes( again) shitty, exploitable gameplay online, wich was the last straw for me. I know guys who didn´t even did the tutorial ingame, subsequently never played offline, and are major MLO players, exploiting speed and power, carelessly.
In the old days, you had to be good vs the cpu, and beat it top stand a chance vs another seasoned human. Now you don´t need to, and konami proves it every year, making offline as dull and boring as they can, trying to compete with Fifa, online. Bad move. Pes has always been the master league adventures, the moments it created, the players we`ll never forget. Not a bugged, exploitable, handicapped online mode, where football is definitely and totally disrespected, making a joke of what Konami itself once tried to achieve.

Wake the fuck up Konami before it is too late.

WE 2014 J, 0 game speed, 1 bar pass assist, manual shooting.

One of the best PES experiences I've ever had :SMUG:

I had issues when scoring goals before. Shots didn't have enough zip and the outcome wouldn't be a translation of what I intended. I'd want a powerful low shot and it would wobble or float instead. I'd want one in the top corner but it would go mid height and floaty as well. Seemed random at times and even when these go in I just had a turn off. Switched to manual and lo and behold the answer to my issues was right there. Forgot how manual was before the patch but I'm enjoying it immensely now. The outcome is exactly the power and placement I've intended. Satisfaction guaranteed again for me.

Heres the twist though the same people will come back to moan about the game being to arcadey when / if konami go back.

Lami that explains why i dont have issues with shooting - manual has always been my default setting.

I personally find PES 2014, with small tweaks, on the pitch as close to real football as any game ever arrived. Now where KONAMI have to concentrate heavilly, is off-the pitch matters.

That´s true because the balance needed in a 15 minute videogame replicating the flow of a 90 minute football match must be incredibly hard to achieve.

i guess the possibility of a true 90 minute gameplay experience should be the base, and from there on down, the game would speed up the things it needed to be played in fewer minute halves. I´d piss on online affairs IF the CPU did promote a rewarding football experience, posing a real challenge in every game you play, because a football match is ALWAYS a challenge between two prepared units. The best prepared, physically , mentally and technically will win most times. Sometimes though, Football happens.
On pes 14 the challenge is the human. What can you do in the game? That´s what feels good about it, to an extent. When you find that you can exploit certain situations, there´s nothing the ill prepared CPU can do about it, besides blatantly cheating, or in pes 14 case, it even let´s you score at will, killing any ounce otf immersion you might still get from long periods with the game. In pes 10, i remember having to adapt to a certain Valência team i had to face with my Benfica. Mata, David Silva and Villa were incredibly hard to stop when on form, and i was never sure of the outcome in those games. Quality! Now, i feel that if don´t make stupid mistakes i will definitely win my games, ALL OF THEM. This on Superstar. Ridiculous. I don´t want to win all my games! If i do so, it has to feel like a great achievement, wich is not.

I had found advanced shooting worked well before the 2nd patch, but now it seems to be harder.

I will try manual shooting next.

If that doesnt work, I may go through the game and give everyone long range and first time time shot skills and increase the jumping and heading of forwards.

I am 4 seasons into the master league and 10 points clear of the french league. I have scored once from outside the box and 3 headers, every other goal is a player through on goal and hitting it left or right of the keeper or a player scoring a rebound

Those are my goals too, sadly. After the patch, headers are much harder and far between. You cross the ball like before the patch, but now, the strikers just miss those headers, and even don´t head it down when you prompt them to. The rebound ones are just gamekillers for me. Those are too many. Unrealistic as shit.

I can remember seeing videos of all kinds of goals early on. I might try it without any patches
