Goals have more variety, keepers are more realistic, and I haven't seen one example of awful goalkeeping.

Just sayin'.
Yep i can agree with this, on pes i would be crapping myself wondering what the keeper was going to do when a shot came to him.

Lets just say the other game, you feel more often than not the goalkeepers will hold their own.

It's quite comforting.

Wow rather tight ass response. I seem to get that alot lately. I said it in jest due to your constant 360s with PES2014.

Peace. enjoy FIFA not sure if I will get it myself when my PS4 arrives. Got killzone and Bf4 on order.
I got my ps4 on Friday. I wanted watchdogs but it got delayed so ended up getting fifa 14. My wife got it for me for xmas, so i was only allowed to test it and update the system lol.

It looks fabulous i must say.

Great work on the video. The lighting looks beautiful and the editing was top notch.

I do hope they fix a lot of those animations though as too many of them (in my opinion) have something holding it back from being really natural. I haven't done a side by side comparison to real life but it might be the upper body which doesn't look right when players pass or shoot?

When a player passes the ball it looks like his head and body straighten up and then he kind of pokes at the ball. That free kick where Buffon catches the ball should be pushed wide of the post and I don't like how stiff the keeper's hands feel at times when they make a save. It seems like the ball should move a bit more after the save?

I really hope it's just a lack of time they've had because the foundation is good but it is counterproductive for consumers to pat Konami on the back and infer that some of these animations look amazing when I think they're almost there but not quite.

Keen to discuss.

@SandTheMan

But mate, why the hell should we have to mess with the resolution settings and lose the definition to get the game to play better. I mean that's why we buy these big TVs with a zillion pixels to play these 2013 games in all its glory?

No joke. The whole point of the Fox engine was this NG experience in graphics and people are having to change resolutions back to the CRT resolutions of 15-20 years ago just to play the freaking game smoothly.

I think everybody can agree, Konami is drinking at the last chance saloon. If they screw up PES 2015 for CG or NG then it's the end. EA have already made a very capable debut on PS4/Xbox One, if Konami can't rival next year what EA have done this year they may as well quit.

If they do mess it up, the best gift Konami could give its fans is to re-release WE9:LE with updated graphics and rosters as a goodbye and let us play what we all remember and love, that PES5/6 experience.

Definitely true.

About improving defenses, at least for guys who play on PC, I will quote my message from another topic:

Probably never saw AI defending so effectively in a video game. A positive side effect is that, since your defence is covering much better, AI is forced to build up more carefully.

I have to agree with this. The AI defends much better, and build up from the CPU is more varied. The game actually gets frustrating due to being unable to score at time. I played as Ajax vs. Real Madrid, and the difference between teams was much more noticeable. The only gripe I have is that the GK's still have some issues, but overall, I've seen a lot more saves.

some animations are not right...actually there are a few and limited animations in the game...there is only one animation you'll see after a hard slide tackle....running animation feels like a heavy old truck specially with close control..and yes players body movement is not right in many shot and pass animations...but if Konami can give a hard work on this base, it will be a great game.

I agree. This is why I'd prefer to be pointing these things out because otherwise they might not get any attention going forward. I'd like to think that the engine hasn't been exploited anywhere near it's ability due to the old consoles and hopefully they really ramp up the settings and animations for the next gen version. I'm not playing that much Xbox lately due to various reasons so I'm not missing the lack of a football game for now. Happy to wait and see what they produce next time around at this stage.

True. That's why I would like to have an increase in 20 or 25%, and not 40. Maybe with the next version of Editor it will be possible. Let's hope so.

By the way, yesterday I played Juventus against Udinese, that I set to Long Ball strategy and... after the first half lost possession 48 to 52. Yes, that's against a Long Ball, counteratacking team! Also in whole game made 1 shot. Again.

are anybody happy with the freekicks?

the guide line is shameful, and the inability to score from long range is so so stupid. can anyone show me a blast from a freekick from 30 or 40 yards?

you can only shoot placed shoot, why konami why?

Sometimes konami turn the feedback 180 degree.. kast time in PES 2013, cpu is like having 2-3 goals from 5 attempts. Now up until my 3rd ML season, they only score 2-3 goals since my first campaign.

I think there is a bug whenever they do the freekick from the middle of my half. Almost all shot go way over the bar. :FAIL:

There's a lot to be said for pick-up-and play games and on a personal level that's kind of what I want from a football game now.

The thing is, PES used to have the dream combination of pick-up-and-play gameplay accompanied with a huge amount of depth that rewarded further play. PES2014 doesn't have either of those things in my opinion. Gameplay has become a bit convoluted (particularly the control system) and the depth isn't there. Player individuality - the series' hallmark - just isn't what it once was.

PES2014 has become the shallow experience that FIFA is notorious for - the instant wow factor but scratch beneath the surface and there is nothing there.

You're right, PES2015 is massively important for this series.

So....let me get this right -

ALL I have to do to make PES 2014 'work' is -

1) Change it to a PS2 game by altering settings on my 50" plasma that I bought for its sole purpose of playing games in glorious colour and turn everything off/down in relation to graphics
2) Change the resolution to 320x200
3) Install numerous patches
4) Play the game on Professional (or less), gamespeed -1 (or whatever), assistance at 1 (maybe), and don't use the through ball button (gotcha)
5) Manually edit around 10,000 bits of data (because I've got all day and only the cat needs to be fed) to get pressure and defensive lines and formations and players correct
6) Play in certain stadiums. At certain times of the day. But not on Tuesday's, Thursday's or Sunday's. For some reason these days don't play well with KONAMI code. ESPECIALLY SUNDAY if your dinner is cooking. The steam from the kitchen plays havoc with the engine. #lag
7) Try and stop shots. At all times. And crosses to near posts. No matter if it's struck like a 3 year old girl. #protectkeepers
8) What was I on about...
9) What am I doing with my life....
10) Oh year....

*waits for 2015*

@ccshopland
post of the year lol
im waiting for your post after PES 2015 release, i think it would be just epic (your post of course not the game).

Is PES that bad ?
I have started a master league with chelsea in EPL and i find it very exciting and enjoyable. The only thing that bothers me, is the bad reaction of keepers in some occasions.
But except that, all the rest factors are well enough !
So it is very subjective PES "taste".

I think the same.

Life is too short to spend insane amounts of time to make a flawed game work correctly, when 95% of the remaining catalog for your preferred platform "just works".

Do wahtever you want, except being a Konami pseudo-employee betatesting their games for them, for free, for years. Other companies value (or try to) their community, but not this one, who is taking them as complete ***** who buy the game each year on day one.

Oh it's more than a drama, it's like the world has ended........... :(

I'm a PES Junkie, I have no fix, and all the dealers are clean out of everything until next year. This is what you call a 'Cold Christmas Turkey'.

Can you not go back and play one of the old games?

I bought 2010 for £2 today. I think it should make for interesting comparisons.

Online for the first time though you can play defence and offence without blatant bug exploits (after 1.04)...
Not like 2011 with its side through balls finding always the striker (CBs freezing)... Or 2012 when the defence worked better by just pressing X and letting go the sticks.

I have no idea why these guys just keep posting here? I mean, not that i would like only positive opinions or something, but i dont understand where is this passion for moaning from? I dont like FIFA and I am not wasting time posting in its threads. Thats it. Everyone should concentrate on what they like.

Must say, I'm not convinced the game's better overall since the patch.

Yes, it's tightened things up a lot. Yes, in some areas it's greatly improved. But what's been lost is that open, free-flowing feel I liked so much. The original PES 2014 was a deeply flawed game but it had something very special in amongst all the annoyances: a sense of freedom and depth. Suddenly it feels a bit like PES 2012 all over again - a fast, rigid, button-mashing game where the same things happen time and time again. I know it was a bit too loose in midfield, and there was so little pressure on midfielders that at times it looked like something from the 1950s, but ffs Konami, do you always have to take things to the opposite extreme?

I wouldn't mind so much if they'd actually fixed the main irritations with version 1.0. But no - I'm in midfield, I put my foot on the ball... oh, a computer-controlled Ryan Giggs has somehow been propelled fifteen feet across the turf - faster than the speed of sound - and smashed into me, completely missing the ball, which just rolls slowly to another computer-controlled player who runs off with it while three of my midfielders take a step in the wrong direction so that once I get control of them they can't catch up with him. I've had 78% possession and 99 shots on goal to Manchester United's zero, but suddenly this guy runs down the wing and rolls the ball at 1mph to the near post... oh, the computer has denied me control of my centre back, who's taken two steps backwards so the striker has a free shot. But wait, he's hit it straight at the keeper with all the power of a kitten's sneeze! Oh... my keeper's palmed it straight into his own net. 1-0 to them.

Also, is it just me or have defensive lines actually been nudged even further up the pitch? I've got my defensive line set to 1, and my attack/def level set to 4, and my player support also set to 4, and I concede at least one goal a game from being kicked off the ball 40 yards from goal (no foul, obviously) and the computer playing a through ball in between my two CBs who are standing on the halfway line. The only way I can keep a clean sheet is to hit "back" on the D-pad to lower the defensive line every single time I lose the ball. I do at least get some amusement from looking at the radar and seeing where the defensive line indicator appears on the map (i.e. where a defensive line should be standing), compared to where they're actually standing.

This is what Konami do every year: release a game with a load of faults but a very clear vision of what it's trying to be, then respond to criticism of the faults by removing the clear vision, and patch it into the same old 100mph thrash / through-ball-fest (with most of the faults still there). Then, if we're lucky, we get another patch turning it into some kind of hybrid between the two versions of the game, sometime in early Spring. Gone so far beyond sick of this now.
