Mate, less stadium and no weather effect are not bugs, so no need patch for that.

I didn't say it was a bug did I? I said this will be still missing and, for me, it has some impact on game (not gameplay - well, maybe slight :P).

Och yeah, love Hosoda. He at least is honest.

So, insufficient staff members and like someone here said, Europeans and USA people are used as guinea pigs/beta testers to help improve on Japanese Winning Eleven version of the game.

Impressed not. Annoyed yes.

Playing PES 2012 v 1.6 right now. Confirm my belief it has to be the worst PES since 2011. But it have two things that i think done quite right, shooting weight and goalkeeper awareness. Keeper comes out of their line to sweep the ball and backtracking when the ball come short. Making 1 vs 1 very unpredictable.

Previously you said "no amount of patches would fix...". Generally, patches are made to improve a game, eliminate bugs, fix unstable feature or put in advertised game feature not in yet.

It is not necessarily to add unadvertised feature or something earlier confirmed not available in PES 2014, e.g. many stadiums and weather effects

Anyway, yeah Hosoda admits that PES players is kinda beta tester :APPLAUD:

Played about 8 hours of PES2007 (PES6) on the 360 over the weekend with a bunch of mates. (Alright, that's a lie, I don't have a bunch of mates. It was two mates. K, one mate and a mate of his.)

It was refreshing to play a game almost 9 years old! The last great PES game before everything went to shit. Afterwards we played 2014 for 30 minutes. It was like dancing with a pretty girl at a club then taking the ugly one home. How they could go so wrong in 8/9 years is beyond me.

Any announcements yet? Will the Summer transfers be done by next Summer?

But the ball physics in this game is pretty excellent, even though the shooting lacks power.

Been playing PES 2011, 2012, 2013 for awhile just for the sake of nostalgia (from the music). I still have 2011 and 2013 on disc, and 2012 on my PC (digital download). Anybody who says 2014 is not a departure from these 3 is mistaken.

It's really too hard until the patch is released that Konami show us the changelog about gameplay fix?
OK, they showed us the faces and boots, very beautiful. But now show us the gameplay patch content!

It's our right as consummers to know them for god sake!

1000% sure it will just say 'and various gameplay fixes' on the patch notes.

Bullshit coated bullshit. Best I could come up to describe the current state of affairs with PES and the people working on it/around it.

Kinda sad that it's 2013 and Konami are leaving the current gen the exact way they started it...

Really hoping we get a finished game next year on PS4 and Xbone

And that is realistic to you?

Never said it's realistic and ffs stop with realism thing.

It's a fucking game. GAME. GAME!

It is bound to be sometimes unrealistic and having goalkeepers which are hard to beat would add +FUN factor. I love to be rewarded for goal I score. I don't feel ANY sort of achievement scoring on PES. NADA.

Try to illusion yourself all you want how great PES is. It's not for me and that's sad as I have played this series since ISS days.

Since 2007 this game is going haywire. They don't know direction they want to take PES to. There is not set goal and their attitude towards fans is not praiseworthy either.

Also do they realize they will LOSE fans in Europe/USA if they don't state beforehand that: GAME IS IN BETA. WE WILL LISTEN TO YOUR FEEDBACK and provide patch at later date. Sorry, but I still feel pissed off at the fact I paid 40$ for broken, unfinished game and have to wait and HOPE for improvement in Novemeber (2 months after game release to wait for official roster update).

They feel no shame. They didn't even apologize to people who bought their product. NOTHING. We know nothing about what gameplay changes patch will bring.

Look at fucking DICE and their reaction towards PC and Battlefield problems. That's praiseworthy attitude. Communicate with fans, aplogize, do admit that there are problems and you're working on fixing them.

Guess it's too hard for hardcore PES fans to see we are in 2013 not in 2003.

That's why I love Hosoda. At least he is honest guy and not throwing bullshit all around the place (remember: he was first one to confirm there won't be any weather effects in game this year, while Adam said, we will see what we can do about that, fingers crossed bullcrap).

Now he openly said we are beta testers for Winning Eleven and according to our feedback, their game is more complete package thanks to the fixes they implement and that they can't make 2 versions of the game at same time due to lack of staff resources.

If only whole PES Team was like that, they would be more plausible and people would hold better opinion of them.

Sorry, over.

They need to get this patch spot on really, otherwise they are going to lose a lot of people.

Hopefully that is why it is taking so long and they are really listening to the problems and trying to fix them.

All that is a quite funny thing.
Of course Im agreeing with all those rants because they are legit.

However I was thinking that if Konami a few months ago had told us that paying in advance the full price we could have joined a beta copy of the game plus the full game when ready to be released I'm sure all the people preordered (me included) would have been more than happy to join.

Sometime it depends on how you showcase your menù.

I wonder if there is a possibility that PES would completely keel over. Interest for it seems to be less and less every year, but I hope it's still going strong in areas like South America.

And that is realistic to you?

Somehow I repeated that in my mind in Bane's voice

Seriously, how bad is the the defensive AI at your part? I´m a pretty decent PES-player, but I just have to get some feedback from someone. It´s really getting to me. The unawareness and responsiveness my players show is dreadfull. I have loads of patience and I´m pretty sure my timing on the controls are of occasionally off, but most times the oppostion players just run through my defence like it´s nobodys business. Lobbing my goalkeeper and scoring absolutely laughable goals. I´m patient, but this is just really getting to me. My defense-settings don´t seem to be working as the gap between my cb´s are at times really questinable. Don´t get me wrong, I don´t hate the game. I´m waiting PATIENTLY on a patch which MIGHT fix some of the online-issues but please. I feel soooo alone at times. I just need to confirm that it´s not just my skills that are in doubt after the "revolutionizing" of PES. Writing this in a haze of frustration.

Just read this in adams twitter answering a question if the patch has been submitted ,such a liar ,no shame ffs.
"@creimer1980 yes of course, these things take weeks to be approved, sometimes longer. Waiting on news.
6:22pm - 12 Nov 13"

Does he thinks everyone is stupid . how the feck do other companies that released the game after konami managed to launch 2 or 3 patches by now?

Yeah, so it would be that EA submitted their patches for FIFA before game was released .

There was 3rd update for FIFA done. Usually takes time until next store update (which is on Tuesday for PS3/Wednesday for Xbox). Not months or weeks.

Yea that Adam is a liar. when I think of all the bullshit he sprouted during the summer i don't know who I'm more pissed off with him for bull shitting or me for getting sucked into the PES "this is going to be the best pes ever" that i get sucked into every year. I remember him on wenb if anyone disagreed with what he said they were stupid and didn't understand football or pes and then soon after a ban. If anyone tries to defend him by saying, oh its his job he has to as he would say "big up pes" then fine that's his job but it doesn't stop him from being full of shit falsely proclaimed PES community leader. I mean can anyone one remember when the community voted for that.I like the game ( with gameplay patches) I even liked the simplicity of the masterleague at the start but its just too simplistic to carry on playing it. 4 transfers every week during the transfer window( sorry I mean 4 bids and you then cant make any bids the next week)Purple and blue f**king arrows all over the place for no reason. then there's the regens. I have always hated that regens kept there there name and appearance of there former selves but to also have the same stats is so so stupid. is there no actual programmers or coders at konami that can get that right ffs. I've played PES 2014 on the xbox and ps3 and PC. I personally have found the PES games of the past few years nearly unplayable on the consoles. I've had no PC this week so have been playing it on the ps3 and i don't know if its my ps3 or the game but its just brutal, my controller nearly flew at the wall a couple of times. I dont think a patch can fix the console versions, maybe instead of only making a current gen version of it they should have abandoned the current gen or just gave a patched and updated PES 2013 (like what fifa does most years) and put all their resources into a new gen version for the next gen consoles and PC

If the patch had been submitted to Sony, then why wouldn't they announce the specifics of it? I call it bullshit.

Nice avatar, by the way, dejavu76. ;)

I just thought of a rather good analogy to describe the game. It's like somebody has built a really nice looking car and hasn't bothered to actually fix the parts together properly. The car looks nice from the outside but it feels as if it's about the fall apart at any moment.

I used to find it troubling that, once accelerated, full speed runs starting from midfield are almost impossible to stop online (add the fact that there is no catchup bug to help in this situation, because it's not a "catchup" scenario). Defenders just freeze one after another, letting opposition dribble straight through.

I recently completely changed the buttons I instinctively use to defend, and have a lot more success stopping this from happening.

I shared my experience on a different forum, so I'll just paste it here:

Holding certain buttons will now actually get you into a lot of vulnerable situations. It's best to let go of any buttons (sometimes that includes the L-stick. ANY BUTTONS) when the touch is finished.

The same goes for defending in PES14.

Defending pressure is less effective than PES13. In PES13, the pressure button (X) or COM pressure button (square) enables your defenders to hunt down the ball as if they're homing missles. To me that is EXTREMELY UNREALISTIC. They do not even get wrong footed for a moment. They are always and completely aware of where the ball is. They do not need more than a split second to recuperate their momentum if they marched on and miss the ball. Holding both pressure buttons is way too effective. You can do all this by just holding certain buttons? That's a game breaker for me. A control system that allows this is too flat. It's too automatic, with very little skill, timing, and judgement involved.

In PES14, holding R1+X is only effective if your opponent is running, and the trajectory of his run is clearly defined. Holding R1+X against an opponent who is not running, will make you feel like your defender is lost and unaware. It makes you feel like your defender froze. That is because, your opponent's trajectory is unclear. He is just strolling around with the ball, turning, switching feet, or better yet, luring you in and do a trick on you.

The best way to defend against dribblers who know how to vary their speed and touches, is to let go of all buttons, use R1 and X only if you're far away from the dribbler, then R1 and X buttons independently to correct your position, and when closing in, hold X to activate your defender's "containing" animation, and once the dribbler's trajectory becomes clear, choose between using R1+X or double tap X, depending on the situation.

The most important thing I noticed playing PES14, is that it's extremely damaging to your team shape and creates unrecoverable vulnerabilities to press too many buttons that you don't intend to, or dragging defenders out of position. They will snowball the gap and 1-by-1 cover for each other.

One example is if a winger beats your LB on the wings near the sideline (say 40 yards from the corner), the best thing to do is just let the winger have his space, and move a CB to wait around the edge of the box in case he wants to take you on 1-on-1. Leave CB there and start defending with the 2nd CB for the cross. Do not change shape any further than that. NEVER bring anyone full speed out all the way to meet the winger. Adjust slowly. Do not move out too quickly unless support arrives in the box (this will usually be your DM. Check radar if you have luxury of time).

R1+X or square generally should not be used when:
- the opposition dribbler is not running
- you're getting too close to a running ball carrier, and you feel like he's going to vary his pace/cut a turn etc.

Last man defending/containing by holding X works wonders.

I think generally it's best to play using as little button commands as possible (sometimes none at all. Goes for both dribbling and defending). While defending, give running dribblers 3-4 steps of space. This makes them far less effective, and your AI teammates position themselves much better.

I still sometimes have trouble with it online when there's lag in the connection, but for the most part, I've seen improvements.

Being used by Konami as a beta tester for Winning Eleven is something I'm not entirely comfortable with.

My support for Konami is hanging by a thread, to the point where I may turn my back on this series completely. There are so many good games out there to enjoy that I'm not sure why I bother with PES. The annual hype/disappointment roller coaster is something I can do without.

Konami have had long enough to get their shit together. I wonder if they ever will.

A bit like a Peugeot or Alfa Romeo.

Couldn't agree with you more!

I'd be comfortable being a beta tester if it were free, not charging me $80AUD for a game that is unfinished and riddled with bugs.

Again, i've said this last time; he isn't lying. Konami already mentioned before release they were gonna do a dlc with 800 faces, plus modes, and bug fixes. Konami purposely rushed an unfinished product and knew that it needed a patch, it was all pre-planned and it needed that extra two months. We don't know how updates work, none of us are game developers that specifically works on a console game; Konami probably just submitted the patch last week, and now is bringing up the topic. Plus, i distinctly remembered that Konami did apologize on facebook; though i think that was more with the online problems than anyfhing else.

They should'nt have released in september. Then again, even if they did release in november, we would all be complaining, because it coincides with the next gen consoles and fifa 14.

Nice explanation. To all of this you have to add the use of the right stick in defense. Sometimes I get the feeling that it also controls the position of the defensive line, even if it's supposed to be controled by the D-pad. It is so confusing...

I think the info about the new controls is far too little. If you're about to renew the whole of your game's controls you should be releasing a proper guide, shouldn't you Konami?
