Announcement about the announcement below:

Forget TGI Friday, more like TGI November. Patch/DLC this month, and happy to say info should be coming this week. STAY TUNED #almostthere

So he admits that the game isn't finished. :BOP:

They should just go all in for a next gen game to come out next Spring! Why the hell not? Well there are probably numerous reasons why they shouldn't. But I'd be interested.

To me it's clear Konami should have waited for the next-gen consoles to debut the new engine. The 360 & PS3 aren't up to the task of running it with all the graphical improvements. Releasing a brand new engine right at the tail end of a console generation is a strange thing to do. New engine on new hardware would have been the better plan.

Perhaps PES2014 should have been PES2013 with squad updates and gameplay fixes. Save the real effort for PES2015 on XB1, PS4 and PC, giving the new engine the power to show what it can do.

Broken games need to be patched quite quickly after release. I believe there is a small window of a few weeks to do this before customers move on. Many of the more casual PES fans probably already have and are now enjoying FIFA and a number of other big titles that are released this time of year.

Massive fuck-up by Konami. I still wonder if a delayed release would have made more sense. More time to finish the game and also more time for the hype surrounding GTA5 and FIFA to pass.

The problem with PES2014 is it's not broken as such, but clearly unfinished and I'm not sure that can be overcome with a patch/es. I fear we are stuck with what is nothing more than a tech demo that shows glimpses of brilliance but cannot be called a professional, finished product.

I sincerely hope people learn from this experience. Don't go out and pre-order PES2015, nor buy it day one. We are all dedicated PES fans so it takes some resolve to do that, but I believe it's the best course of action.

Reject the hype and broken promises.

I absolutely agree with all of this. The biggest screw up Konami made was not delaying the game, as it now has a reputation across the gaming world.

Besides, releasing the game in November, even December, wouldn't hurt sales. Those who buy both PES and FIFA will still buy both, those who always buy PES will still buy it, and those who only buy FIFA might actually try it if they've gotten bored of FIFA by that time. The only thing standing as a real obstacle would be the release of next gen FIFA, but then it's Konami's fault they decided to try squeezing stuff into current hardware rather than going all out on next gen as a fresh new beginning for the series.

I don't expect the patch to change what I'd like to see altered, because there are some pretty hefty fundamental issues with the gameplay that are design related rather than 'bugs'. Most people indeed do abandon unpatched games quite quickly, and the only reason I still have it frankly is out of some misguided hope it'll be improved, and also because I'm waiting for next gen FIFA at the end of this month.

Even if some of the issues are fixed, it still won't have much to do. Heart and form will still be broken, ML will still be League Mode with a three day transfer window. I'm taking your advice next year and may well be leaving PES2015 possibly into the new year. Frankly I'm tired of buying the game, then having to wait for transfer updates, data packs (remember the data pack/Stadium/option file fiasco last year), then having gameplay fixes going on thought to March like we had last time out.

I just want a game that works like it says on the tin!

They will have hard time. KONAMI is probably the only company who makes sports game, without starting title on Next-Gen platforms.

NBA 2k14 check, NBA Live 14 check, FIFA 14 check, MLB, NHL will be coming to NG too.

All of above have 2 versions made, one for CG one for NG.

KONAMI put forth unfinished product on CG. What makes you think they will overhaul whole thing for 2015? They would have to add more animations, get real keepers to do mo-cap, re-design online modes and career modes COMPLETELY. Add new cameras and allow users to customize them however, they like (allow for much more zoom out, more height, etc.).

Can't see them doing all of the above. If they stick with that tiresome ML system or lack of online modes with 2015, I would start praying for PES as a series... Or sell the rights to PES to someone else. ;/

I fear we could see another problematic start to a new console generation for Konami. They really need to get their act together and quickly otherwise the future is bleak for PES in the established gaming markets.

Eight PES titles on current gen consoles and not one of them is anywhere near approaching the quality of their PS2 games as an all-round product. That's quite shameful.

And You still believe that next-gen will do the trick? Guys, after all ps3 fails I do not expect ANYTHING from this company.

I havent posted on this thread for some time, but ffs, please just go and try Fifa and adjust the sliders. You'll enjoy it, it's really much improved and comparable to last gen pes. Can't believe people will still buy a konami game again after what's happened this year.

Fifa? sliders? I play only online. And fifa 14 is totally unplayable also, due to headers. I bought both games, which are unplayable.
To hell with ps4. I won't buy it for sure ;)

I haven't read this thread for a while, so sorry if this has been asked a million times already, but do we know what this magical patch will fix?

I work for a software company and we read our community forums on a daily basis, we get active feedback and create a task list. We then inform users what we're doing.

But this being Konami....

And when they release patch there will be very vague info what it changed/improved.

Typical KONAMI/PES then -.-

After that it leads to massive placebos effects all other the place, so getting reliable feedback is pretty hard... :/

I really wish Konami would release patch notes with their patches. That way we can compare what has actually been fixed against community placebos such as "the game feels faster" and "keepers are worse", etc, etc....

Can't disagree more. Regardless of Konami's problems regarding finishing a game, the on the pitch feeling is still (and this year even more so) miles ahead of Fifa.
Fifa offers clearly the better game experience due to a more polished and more complete package of modes, but for me Pes clearly offers the better football experience, even despite the niggling problems.

But knowing Konami we won't get the complete package till Pes 2016.

Well Adam Bhatti's twitter said the update will feature around 1000 new faces, transfers, wait for it, the big one - boots, and 'bug' fixes. No mention of gameplay alterations whatsoever, unless Konami are including fundamental gameplay issues as 'bugs'. Who knows with Konami.

Along with the update we'll probably get a series of horse heads, tropical fruit for boots, alternative kits in the form of medieval Knight uniforms and goal nets with pink flamingos sitting on the crossbar.

On a different note the game is still vastly more enjoyable on +1 speed. Depends on your TV, but the COM seems to have a lot more urgency. I haven't once been able to randomly walk the ball into their penalty area. Weird.

Also, I've found what I think is an awesome camera angle if anyone's interested, it's like a broadcast camera mixed with the old PES 6 style camera. Choose pitch side camera, then zoom 1, height 7, angle 10.

Does anyone here know much about Brazilian football? I'm just curious why Corinthians have this season's Nike strip (which is awesome) in friendly matches, but if you select them in a Copa tournament then they revert back to their old strip from last season?

Copa Libertadores license only allows to recreate this year's edition (2013).

Back then, teams were using 2012-13 kits.

Winning Eleven 2014 Asia Version, PS3, Professional, 30 min match. Offline. Best football game ever!

14th november we'll get the Japanese Version. Winning Eleven is always better than PES version.

Don't buy European version, Konami always fails trying to make a FIFA-esque version for European users.

Reading all that negative feedback we can rename this forum to fifa-web.co.uk....

I really hope they include the Super Mario backgrounds as well. DO YOU HEAR US, KONAMI? WE WANT SUPER MARIO BACKGROUNDS! Can't believe they didn't put that in. That's actually a genuine surprise.
