Still not a very good game, thought it did play a lot better on +1 speed though.

take free kicks and pks, for example. this years free kicks are terrible, the pk system from 2010 was great, the AI from 2011 and the goalkeepers from 2012, international challenge from PES6 and online lobby chat from PES 2011, the advantage rule from PES5 -the list of things is astounding! i dont understand why they remove these things.

My thoughts exactly. This extends to other little things as well as the big ones. Last year we had no 2v2 lobbies, and they removed lobby chat. In PES2009 or maybe 2008, you could start a tournament with two teams, and have your mate play you as the opponent by changing controller 2 side in game. They removed that for no reason. Who cares if some idiot wants to win a tourny like this, big whoop.

Some of the passing animations in PES2010 were delightful, the range of shooting animations in PES10, 11, 12 was far greater than 14. The list goes on.

If all of the good things were left in tact from the earlier gaes they would be building on top of successful pieces, but they are Konami I guess.

I repeat myself, but IMO this is the best current gen PES, but yes it is a totally unfinished product unworthy of a big company like Konami. Whoever took the decision to launch this game should be fired...and i really mean this literally.

I also have to think about all the silly people who were saying in august that the "king is back"...at the time i laughed with them...now it turns out that i'm more positive about the game than most of those silly people...

Every year it's the same shit...
 
just played pes 2014 or did i? i thought i was playing fifa end of the road for me thanks i'm not gona be conned into some fifa intruder in the konami studios thanks i will grip my hands fim on pes 2013

Yup, listed mine on Amazon and no takers. I've never listed a game for sale that wasn't bought by someone within a week.

Wasn't this supposed to be PES' big comeback year? Oh dear :(

I still believe what I said a couple of years go. From PES2012 onwards they should have fully concentrated on the PC / next gen version using the Fox Engine, even grom 2012 they could develop a scaleable high-end game for PC then work on next gen from that basis once they knew the specs.

I thought they should have then sold PES2013 and 2014 as minimal updates from 2012, selling the game at £20 or so brand new.

They should then have opened their European studio, fully focusing on adding features, new audio, new, modern menus etc to make it a fresh, up-to-date product. Then with a stunning looking next gen product, release it on launch for PS4 / XB1. Maybe even completely rebrand the series.

By now we could have all been salivating at a new PES on next gen consoles and PC with stunning graphics, more complete gameplay, contemporary game menus, music, features, with a focus on editing and providing people with more options you could shake a stick at. Options of how to play game modes, to visual stuff like nets, time of day, weather etc. ML could have been re-done from scratch, with a focus on editable leagues so people can make whatever they want from the game.

Instead they mucked around making PES2013 before trying to squeeze a new engine on old hardware. Now they're behind on next gen too. By the time next gen PES comes out the new consoles will be approaching a year-old, and Konami will probably be making excuses that they're trying to get to grips with new hardware.

Thing is, I'd sympathise with them if they were a small indie development team, but they're not. They're massive, and I get the feeling that, as a company, Konami just don't take this franchise seriously enough.

I've not played too many game, I am quite enjoying it, but it does feel a bit FIFA like to me, hope not as that game is total mince.

I bought Fifa last year. Pretty fun for a while but no depth. Buying a different version every year is probably the best idea in the long run if you really need to get a football fix.

I don't like the rivalry at all. I don't see how it benefits me as a consumer to take sides.
 
Anyone know if Daymos OF has players names in caps. Last year they were "Abcd" which is why I didn't use it. Someone on twitter please ask him.

I buy FIFA , becouse i want solid online mode.. no body play PES online, its total mess . After PES 2014, all my friends start to play FIFA... i just...want to have fun with my friends ... PES don't give me a chance for this .

Sooo, this game is actually broken. If you are running in on the keeper, hit shoot immediately followed by R2. As in previous PES games it does a unique little low chipped shot, bit it beats the keeper 100% of the time. I tried it in training to see if it still did the same, and it did. I must have scored past the keeper about twenty times in a row shooting like this.

How can such a basic mechanic that has always worked now be broken?
 
Totally agee with that Jett guy. They should have given us an enhanched pes 2013 instead, now that would have been a lasting experience. They fuck up the game every year making something totally "new". Pes 2011 had a great base, then they fucked it up for 2012, gave us something totaly different.. Then Pes 2013 was a refined version of pes 2012 and had potential, but again this year they give us something totally new and unfinished. I really agree with Jett they should have waited with next gen 1 year more and finished old gen era with a SOLID FUCKING GAME FOR ONCE. Imagine an enhanced Pes 2013 with slower turns as in pes 14.. we could have had a fantastic game, but we do not. I havent touched Pes 14 for weeks which has NEVER happened me before, not even with Pes 12 when they deleted all important stats an gave us a overpaced shite game.

Konamis state is so fucking bad and their moves so stupid that I almost have started believing in some sort of conspiracy where EA somehow threatens them not to make the most out of Pes.

For me even such broken release of pes 2014 is way better than pes 2012 ar 2013. Atleast SOMETHING is good about gameplay, like collisions, footplanting and feints. While on previous ones nothing about gameplay was really well made. It had less major flaws maybe, but other than that it was dull in every department as well.

Yep.. CPU has various build up-play is one of those that keeps me interested. :)). I am starting my 3rd season of ML. Never happen in PES 2008-2009, 2011-2013. I remember playing quite amount of ML in PES 2010 though. :P
 
Add to that complete lack of PC support, poor game optimization, taking out Vsync/Frame skipping options from Settings, at times this game looks like 2008 game (due to terrible Level of Detail used).

Sorry, but Vysnc option removal does not affect smoothness on my match at all. 2nd, only with turf modification and sweetfx, the game shows its graphical advantage over previous PES, and FIFA. Except many generic faces, but those few real faces made, looks phenomenal.

Most of us that still prefer does not necessarily mean we don't recognize PES 2014 flaws either from the game itself, or towards Konami/PES production as the developer regarding how they run their aftersales service. There is no excuse for that from me. But that does not mean, i have to hate and stop playing the game or even break that into pieces, lol. :P

FIFA 14 CG/PC with many gameplay/mechanic assets bring from previous version (e.g. FIFA 13) just does not cut it for me.

Really? All the CPU tries against me are chipped through balls and passes to the near post instead of crossing the ball.

Either way I still can't get over the fact that I've found a near 100% method of scoring when confronted by the keeper. That's just awful game design.

Yes, specifically, midfield and passing around by cpu on their defence when I front-pressure them. True, that their attack in near/inside my box leaves many area for improvement. I am bored with the way they ground-cross me.

There is absolutely no opportunity for another company to come in and seize market share with EA holding the majority of the licensing and having an established online presence.

Next year will be the year for all sports games to fully utilize the power of NG with an entire year under their belt.

Konami should have just scrapped current gen and focused on getting it out on NG. Considering we already have to wait until the season kicks off to get our footy fix what's another 2-3 months?

Hell, we're waiting on damn summer transfers until November anyway.

I'm done with this game. Just played someone who used a exploit where you can beat the keeper 9/10 with a chipped shot from any distant and angle. Pathetic game breaking bug
 
I am also done at least until the patch. unfortuantely offline is a shambles due to the one dimensional AI and lack of a full option file out yet. meanwhile online more often than not people are using shitty exploits or using the MLO twat XI which is just not fun to play against constantly.
 
Question for the Xbox users: How is the connection of the game online? I heared mixed reports about that. I have a reasonable connection, but guys on 'my' Dutch forum tried to play each other and they have serious complaints. I try to find out if that has to do with their internet-connection or if it is really so bad.
Please let me know. Thanks.

I haven't seen a football game that has two exact ways of scoring that work every time, since the mid-90's.

This is really poor. This and pressing R2 after shooting as the keeper approaches make for a certain goal. Reminds me of Super Soccer on the SNES where cutting in and shooting at a specific angles worked every time. Yep, I'm comparing scoring methods to that of a 1990's 16-Bit game :(

It's virtually impossible to a score from long range, and certain types of shots from close range beat the keeper 100% of the time. WTF?!

Easily fixed, both of them, and I'm sure they will be - particularly the keeper reactions to lobs.

PES 5 and 6 both had massively exploitable goalscoring methods that were practically guaranteed goals (a free kick lay-off exploit and a maxed-out R1 lob which was in there as far back as PES3), as did 2011, 2012 and 2013 (R1 dink). Supertalk, I assume you mean R2 as in the finesse shot, given that the R1 dink shot doesn't exist anymore?
