Still no news about a conrete date for November patch? Early November is probably to optimistic?

I believe it will be here when the game is released in Japan (mid November?).

@Lons

Amateurish company or not, they act like no other company.

Even Indie developers post Development diaries on web blogs, showing progress and what do they fix.

Never saw any comprehensive details about what PES Team fixes in their game. You then get patch and you need to notice changes yourself, some of which lead to massive placebo effects all over the place.

Different experience for someone else. They should BE CLEAR as WATER on what they do fix.

Would it be so hard to write:

-increased the mass of ball.
-increased shooting power.
-increased goalkeeper reaction times and re-worked animations, so they now feel more realistic
-increased fouls count and made referees more strict
etc.

You know it's pretty simple even for beginning producer! Check http://code.google.com to see what some people do there.

Very comprehensive change logs.

Something one would expect from company as big as KONAMI.

I totally agree with his last post about PES5. Those MOTM's are one of the countless good features that are gone from the game. It seems as if we are getting less and less of similar things each year.

You just can't stand the truth being told. I'm also a massive PES fan, you know...
Even Jimmy isn't a satisfied customer this year...

surprised by this comment gerd.

Yes I am a PES fan and love the franchise but i am just as critical and give them a hard time on twitter. My opinion is shared with Jimmy and Caniggia and i havent played PES2014 as much because of the flaws but reading Info's posts rings bells in my head.

I dont care for fifa and when I do I visit the FIFA thread but dont convince people that PES is better. The mere fact that he thinks FIFA is equal to PES gone by undermines his ideas imo.

Also the constant reference to FIFA is annoying. I dont like the game stop trying to convince me its the answer to our frustrations.

I dont know when it happned but there seems to be a consensus if you like PES and not like FIFA you must be a deluded fanboy.

Try and read my posts where I posted FIFA videos again. This time understanding them.

I never said FIFA is better. I only said to not be blinded and see the things FIFA do well. Nothing else.

Yes, there are things FIFA excels at and you can easily see them if you're not completely blinded with one-sided love .

the only things fifa excels extremely well at is the variety of game modes off and online, as for the gameplay to me its bloody rubbish thats my opionion.

EDIT: WRONG QUOTE. THIS POST IS A REPLY TO ZEEMEISTER...

Ok, i misunderstood you.

I'm sorry, my mistake.

This said, i still enjoy the game...yes, there are attrocious mistakes and Konami once again stripped the game down (it would be interesting to compare PES5 with PES2014 and see how many fantastic features or modes have disappeared or have been stripped down, it would be logical if there would have been more in PES2014, compared to PES5).

But

IMO this is by far the best currentgen PES-version. I really hated 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13.

This one i'm still playing.

Don't know what i might hope or fear from the patch...could be a better game, but als a worse...

i hear ya mate. this 2 steps forward 3 steps back is going to kill the franchise. they need to get it right and stop removing or changing things for the sake of change rather than improvement. the sad part is if they took elements from all the PES gone by they could make The perfect game.

take free kicks and pks, for example. this years free kicks are terrible, the pk system from 2010 was great, the AI from 2011 and the goalkeepers from 2012, international challenge from PES6 and online lobby chat from PES 2011, the advantage rule from PES5 -the list of things is astounding! i dont understand why they remove these things.

It's a strange one, I tried playing PES2013 and 2011 the other day and both seemed horrifically robotic and ancient compared to this in terms of ball physics, movement, graphics. Playing nothing but PES2014 since release then switching back was so jarring, I was really quite shocked.

With PES2014, although keepers are bad from close range, they can be tightened up with a patch, of that I'm confident, but I'm not sure they'll be able to fix the fact that most goals scored from both teams are far too similar, and this issue of the AI randomly opening up and letting you wander in on goal with ease are huge problems. I'm amazed more people don't seem to find this. I'm convinced the lack of variety of goals and defensive AI are the reasons why some of us think the PES 'magic' has disappeared.

It's funny, after years of me going mad at the game on here for being screwed over by scripting, the thing that finally made me stop playing a PES game was that the AI would open up and let me score with ease, then immediately revert to being competitive again. Almost like a reverse of scripting...

It's a shame. This time last year, while there were a lot of complaints about PES2013, the forums were also full of people posting tips and also tales of their ML adventures. In this respect the whole community seems to have just given up for the time being.

Indeed. All the cool kids love that stuff you described along with the fancy menus and music. For me however, football games are all about the feel of the actual gameplay/football (which I really like in PES 2014) and not the bells and whistles. I'm not saying they're not important, especially to the younger demographic, but the feel of the gameplay/football in FIFA 14 feels terrible to me. Just like the last 10 years I can't play it for anymore than 5 minutes about once every 3-4 weeks. If nothing else those abandoned games remind of how good I have it with the PES 2014 football and that if it weren't for Konami I might be be stuck with EA's game.

FIFA might be not to everyone's taste but this assertion that it's really arcade doesn't hold up anymore IMO.

PES however does have a much more realistic feel to it in certain situations, but not all. If Konami can tweak defensive AI so that the COM presses with lurgency on a more consistent basis then it'll be better.

Which reminds me of another issue I found in the game, if you sprint on the ball holding R1, and time it so that you change direction before you get to within a certain radius of an opponent, it doesn't seem to 'kick in' with the AI that they need to close you down, so you can actually sprint for ages without being seriously challenged. I did it with a big lumbering CB. He got the ball in his own six yard box, went on a sprint with the ball, and I travelled about 70 yards with him until he got into the oppositions penalty area before anyone really attempted to close him down. That was on Superstar, too.

Neither game is remotely approaching realistic to be honest.

Yeah I agree %100

You liked Fifa on current gen. Aren't You? Why F14 is bad for You?

True.. yesterday i test pes 2013 and today fifa 13, pc platform and go back to PES 2014 just now. Wow, I just realize how good it is from graphical, most animations, ball physic, foot-planting stand points, and passing game (midfield). Those other two title felt outdated. Sure, it wouldn't be fair for me not to praise these improvements. :BOP:

But coming to inside/near box action, it is too inconsistent, feel automatic, restrictive, more predictable, only two players fighting for crossing and static (sometimes the player seems lose focus lol.

About the AI open up, yeah it happens, in certain cases they seem not interested in playing football. :CONFUSE:

noticed that too and so inconsistently they let you just waltz through. stick it back on exhibition and they close you donw,

I find it hard to believe everything will be adressed in the next patch.

It happens mostly in competition modes but does also happen in exhibition matches too. It totally ruins the game for me. I can play the AI for 89 minutes and it'll be quite tough, I'm being nicely closed down all over the park when for ten seconds or so the COM defenders just don't do anything. I score, win the game, and still feel hacked off.....

Last time I played it, in the Libertadores with Corinthians, on Superstar, i got two matches in before switching it off. I described the last of the two matches on the previous page, but the game before that, where I won 2-1, again left me pissed at the game, again despite winning.

All three goals in the 2-1 win came from weak shots straight down the middle of the goal and all three times the keeper dived under the ball where he didn't even need to move. And both of my goals were scored where I played it into the box and the AI stood off me like they were frozen and handed me an easy shot (both of which I messed up and they still went in!).

Part of the magic of PES was always variety, but also the sense of achievement in scoring and winning. I'm not getting that at all from this game. I might buy it back (if someone buys it from me!) if the patch fixes this but it's a huge part of the game's AI that needs fixing, so I doubt it.

Sometimes I really wonder what their AI programmers have been doing the last few years. Scratching their asses and drinking sake? Maybe they just don't have an AI branch and depend on programmers who specialize in other areas to cobble together something in the last minute. This game honestly feels like an Alpha; it's not feature complete, its buggy as hell AND new additions like MASS and Havoc Physics aren't implemented properly.

I'm not a fan of FIFA or EA but at least EA has an excuse for poor AI. Their online modes actually work as intended. It's 2013 and not only does Konami ship a game with laughable AI, they also ship with the same broken online component as always. With these levels of incompetence and mismanagement, I just don't see how this series can survive much longer.

I tried the demo again tonight and it kinda felt different, was quite enjoyable. So, I loaded up the game and definitely think they have made it slightly slower. I never noticed before. Normally I'd say that's a good thing, but to experiment, I tried a series of ten minute long exhibition matches on game speed +1. It was much more enjoyable. All the issues still stand, of course, but not once in those games did I experience my number one issue where the AI doesn't close you down. In fact, the entire match from controls, to AI pressure, seemed much better, and like the demo. In fact, though I had at least 60% of the play, I found it really hard to get into the final third of the pitch.

If anyone plays on speed zero or less, I'd appreciate anyone giving +1 a try to see if there's a difference. Maybe I just had a run of decent games by coincidence but the matches were much more enjoyable.

I also experimented with pass support of three bars, as I've never tried it before. I wondered whether this might also affect shooting, and seeing as Konami have three bars as default when you first load up the game, I thought I'd give it a try. It was way too automated, as you'd imagine, but I did manage to score from the edge of the box. Interesting.

Suuuuuuupertalk should think about shifting from PES to Cocaine or Heroine, it would be much less damage to his mental health :P

Completely agree with Jett, and sincerely hope (and believe) that a third producer will arrive on the football-gaming scene with the next-gen consoles. There's just too much of an opportunity there now, it seems, especially if next-gen Fifa doesn't really deliver anything but "lively crowds" or whatever.

I won't completely write off this year's PES before the patch, but I have to admit that I'm skeptical, can't really ever remember a patch doing anything of significance (other than the homebrew patches posted on here, of course).
