PES 2014 Discussion Thread

I'm fully prepared to be disappointed with PES2014. I know that's negative but it's the best way to be after such a long run of sub-standard games. The game hasn't got anywhere near my vision of what next-gen PES would be.

The trailer does look promising although not much insight can be gained from it. Looking forward to Thursday.

I honestly think that some people who are being so negative about PES this year because of their disapoiment in previous years just have no common sense. I mean, from what I'm reading, it seems to me that those people seemed to have put high expectations for games like PES 2013 or PES 2012, even though they knew that PES 2013 and PES 2012 were not being made on a new engine, and when Konami finally have a new engine in hands for PES, those people completely lose their excitment and just say negative things about what to expect from the next PES, this is something that just doesn't make sense to me.

I'm not saying that a new engine necessarily means a good game, but at least we can expect something different this time compared to previous years. I see that Konami have some good ideas for gameplay like Player ID, and I am sure that they will express these ideas much better than they did with the old engine due to some huge limitations, but unfortunetly they also take some stupid decisions like removing the league mode.

Anway, I always try to be optimistic, a bit of optimism is good, but I'm not expecting anything revolutionary tho, just a good and a solid game with the improvements that we all should expect from a new engine like better visuals, physics and specially better animations.

Hope they remove the speed selection option and implement one real life experience pace speed.

Although I won't be buying next-gen at launch, I'm much more interested in next-gen PES than Current-gen. I would be ok with a PS4/Xbone trailer which just had the PS3 logo at the end, to let me know I could play it on that (also, Vita please).

The common sense approach is to view PES2014 with absolutely no expectations whatsoever. We've all been bitten too many times by false dawns and broken promises.

As the famous quote goes, "those that cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it".

That's your opinion. Don't force your opinion on everyone else all the time. A lot of people think PES 2013 is a good game.

Fair enough, but don't forget that PES 2014 is using one of the most promising game engines to date. PES 2014 will be the beginning of a new era for the Pro Evolution Soccer franchise.

As a hardcore Pro Evo fan, I've also been devastated this generation, but PES 2013, despite it's many, many flaws, was the best game this gen and it really showed a different approach to the series. Kei Mesuda's touch is yet to be seen and personally I can't wait! Roll on next week!!!:WOOT:

:?

Of course it's my opinion. This is a forum right? I'm not forcing opinions on anyone, merely stating mine.

Think what you like, I really couldn't care less.

For what it's worth I think PES2013 is a good game too, yet a game that is let down by a few poor decisions.

It wouldn't be beyond to truly fuck up a great tool like the Fox engine.Having a great engine means next to nothing if it's used badly

A new engine in itself is no guarantee of quality as I'm sure you're aware, so until I see raw gameplay I will be treating PES2014 with cautious optimism.

As I've said before, any big evolution will be instantly apparent the first time we see gameplay. First impressions of PES are usually met with a feeling of familiarity i.e. very little has changed. I'm looking for something very different.

That's my opinion as well. A new engine for me means a new era for PES fanchise, so we should not get stuck into the past and think that things won't change drastically.

If they will bring an almost flawless game at their first try with the new engine, this is unlikely, but at least we can expect something different, and they have the chance to build up a very good game over the years with this new engine.

I think my optmism is something "balanced", I know that things may change dractically (for the better) with the new engine, I do believe that this may be a new era for PES, but I just don't trust in PES Team enough to think that they will already make a brilliant game in their first attempt with Fox Engine, they are simply not that good. It will take 2 or maybe 3 years for them to make a game that many of us always wanted.

Cheers mate!

Good game, yea maybe. Trouble is poor to good is all we've been getting from Konami for the last 7 years. After they set such a high standard during the early years of the millenium, I, like many others, expect more to be honest.

I think we all should stop expecting things, instead we should be happier with what we have at the moment. Nobody in here can change anything anyway; it's up to KONAMI or EA to create good games. If they do, that's great, if not, that's also ok.

Im in the negative group really I dont like the route they have took with next gen I tried to play pes 2013 but I think its an awful game as is FIFA, if you think otherwise then I respect that but for me the playability is awful and the players are just all limbs everywhere.

I agree new engine will be great but not if its new engine/same ideas they need a fresh new approach in everyway for me.If its anything like pes 2013 I wont be touching it

I'm on the group of people that thinks Konami failed because of bad technological planning and bad leadership to face the problems caused by that knowledge gap and turn them around. A new attitude (from the new PES Team leaders) + a new engine with wonderful tech should be more than enough, otherwise it's outraging incompetence.

I'm sure it's already been discussed but is PES2014 coming to PS4 and Xbox One? Or is this version current formats only?

With the proposed scalability of Fox Engine, surely they will get a next gen version out there. As I said before, I'm hoping that will be their focus, even (probably won't be though).

I suppose formats will first be confirmed at E3.

I just know one thing, if the game is not good i will personaly kick Lami "the inside man" ass!!!!

Your post doesnt make sense :-)

hi guys popped in to see what the buzz was. felt like I popped in at a funeral LOL. can understand the pessimism that there is cos
a) its evo-web lol
b) Konami have failed to deliver (to a degree)
c) a new engine doesnt guarantee anything

BUT its silly to write it off already because of what has happened Konami seem to have adressed the foundation of the games limitations if they didnt they wouldnt bother with a new engine at all

beautfiul ball

just kidding

to bad we argue over a teaser when even pes 11,12,13 looked promising in gameplay videos during summertime, u cant tell if its a good game or not not until YOU PLAY 20 matches at least...and i rather say 40-50

Well to be fair we have been saying for years how good konami would do with new hardware. i mean come on look how good they did with that old engine, Ea would never come close to doing what konami have on the tec they had. now we get the new engine and peeps just hate because they cant imagine konami making a great game but that thinking is not warranted times have changed and so must peeps thinking. The fact is konami are working on what will be the best football game to date and its about time people accept it. The past is the past no point carrying it with u

fear

graphically improved, surely
lights, animations and others..

remember what happened to PES2008?

my worst fear, new graphics, gameplay forgetting

PLEASE KONAMI!!!!!!!!!!
