I feel like .. big disapointment is coming 6th june

thats the feeling i have too, the trailer to me didnt show anything promising, i found last years trailer much better than this years.
theres gonna be alot of complaining after the 6th i believe.

from the short trailer you can see that animations are still the same, they have simply been brought over from 2013 and they still look very rigid. also look at how tense the muscles look, they just appear to be very stiff. not to mention the players shirts/shorts which dont move or fold like real fabric, they all look rigid to me. was this the hyped up engine? man it already looks worse than current gen fifa.

hopefully in 5 days when some gameplay footage is released i can finally say we can pass up on pes forever. this year will be konami's last attempt to recover a bit of their former glory and if they fail this year the whole franchise will stop sooner than later knowing fifa is already looking much much better.

Ok, here is my opinion. What you wrote is quite ridiculous.

I switched to FIFA with version 11 on PC (the first truly NG FIFA on PC, which I know was NOT the same as 11 on consoles - but it still is my favorite FIFA to date, not the new ones).

Why I made the switch? Because KONAMI and PES did disappoint me greatly. KONAMI game although having great vision did not deliver. They made things right, but I find them being held back a lot by OLD engine. Plus the game got boring fast as it offered very little to do (offline and online).

FIFA on the other hand was and still is FUN, but I would NEVER, I repeat NEVER call it a football simulation game. It's faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from it. It's more like Arcade scripted action game than football game at times and you didn't mention even once the FIFA flaws (and it does have those).

For starters:

No interia/momentum leads collision system to be massively inaccurate. Zig-zag past defenders, sudden 90 degree turns without relation to real life body physics, etc. Sadly, FIFA devs don't listen to fans and I feel this will be still broken even if they move to overhyped Ignite engine... (which won't be available on PC - just to remind you).

Offensive AI/Defensive AI - when your team goes to attack, you may notice players moving out of position even if Custom Tactics and Individual tactics are set up differently. This leads to quick counters for opposition. You can find online games on YouTube to see this for yourselves. This combined with absolutely WORTHLESS defensive AI (bar GK), leads to a LOT of goal scoring chances.

Superhumans between posts - aka Goalkeepers. They are far too good, to stable, do not make mistakes. A lot of people started to call FIFA goalkeepers - robots between posts. Think about it ;) (to be fair though, I wanted some of those keeper traits in Pro evolution series, because I find them atrocious).

Referees super offside vision - now this is funny. The refs call offside before the player even moves to offside position. Like refs are espers in this game or what? O_O Plus they can also see red cards from very far out, yet they won't see red card when foul happens few meters from them. Not to mention giving pens when they shouldn't be given, not giving red card to GKs online (he will get yellow card - that's it).

Sliders! - och how I hate those. Incorporating those to the game killed offline goals competition on YouTube. Because you can cheat using those. Make the game better? Harder? ROFL. More like make the game easier to handle. :]

Those things above are just sarting point. More of that is written on FIFA boards @EA forums.

About aesthetics for me FIFA looks too vibrant in terms of colors, models look unnatural and plasticy, stadiums are too close to playing ground, etc. Pro Evo 2010 looked (graphics wise) better than any FIFA to date.

Honest opinion. FIFA needs to fix a lot in terms of gameplay, but truth be told, EA Sports offers a lot to do in terms of Single player and multiplayer. Thus why many people play it for those reasons alone.

complaining will always be there, people will surely find something negative about the trailer even if it's absolutely wonderful

anyway, why do you find last years trailer much better?

Do you know this is a teaser, not a real trailer?

This is hilarious. You are talking like a Square Enix, Capcom, EA or recently Namco Bandai when talking about Dark Souls 2. Wired to the moon regards expectations and what qualifies as success or failure.

So, a series that sold 6m in the last financial year with an incredibly small marketing and promotion budget is in danger of dying? While I can totally understand the argument that if the game is very poor by hardcore community standards that wouldn't be a good thing, to suggest that PES the franchise is ready to die because it "only" sells 6m copies instead of 12m is ludicrous.

PES can exist on a mere 6m sales just like Dark Souls was considered a success with it's "mere" 2m sales, because they are ultimately niche, alternative titles that happen to have an audience.

Not every game needs to be a FIFA or COD in order to succeed, or survive.

PES just needs to serve its own audience well. It doesn't actually need to win over FIFA fans.

i do apologize for being on the negative side this year, all the previous years iv been optimistic about the game but im getting tired of hearing about the same shit about improvement in animations and Ai, even tho there has been improvements in very small increments, we are in the year 2014, and there first release was in 1996, thats 18 years and they cant get the game right, no excuses this year to be honest, konami have been taking us for a ride and im getting sick and tired of it, i understand its a teaser but to me it really showed nothing to get me the slightest excited, all i can say new engine they have to deliver animations and AI this year or else they will never get it right.

This.

Let's hope Konami will never give up, even if Pes 2014 will be a failure in sales.

We should never hope for a series to die because competition is what keeps Fifa and Pes improving every year.

It's ok. Understandable.

This.

Exactly. It might disappoint me but competition is always good. I'd obviously prefer a good high level of competition.

dude, this is a TEASER trailer, a TEASER. The real trailer is in a few days ._. ARGH!!!

*bashes head against wall*

Six million sales is a significant number. If PES 2014 delivers the full package, the sales will sky rocket, eight-nine million sales will easily be achieved. KONAMI can quickly lure their fans back if the game is up to the modern standards.

Agreed, if the animations/physics, graphics and AI is great, then PES 2014 can probably add 2 or three millions more customers above those 6 millions.

The media-frenze and fans-forum-talk will assure that. Of course the demo has to be really good as well.

On the other hand, maybe I'm wrong and the decisive factor if a game sells or not is not really related to game-quality but merely to available licenses out of the box and therefore the 6 million-figure mirrors the customers buying in countries where their favorite football teams and leagues are licensed.

You're as disappointed as you have gotten your hopes up.I have maintained mine at such low levels that Konami cannot surprise negatively anymore

It's bloody ridiculous people are saying "this new engine is crap" when all we've seen is a TEASER trailer, people shouldnt draw to conclusions so early :/

Exactly. Being overly negative as well as excessively positive at this point is unwarranted . Like most short trailers it doesn't show a whole lot of anything.

I dunno guys the more i look at that teaser the more i get a little wet is that improper for me to say i really don't care.:))

Well not sure what you can extract from it that makes you wet but ok..

One thing is to have low expectations, a completely different thing is wishing that Konami fails miserably. A few people on this thread wish just that.

What i see is a lot of natural movement the stadium looked fantastic and in general the way the player moved struck me his arms were making natural movements with his body position etc and the teaser had a physical side i haven't seen in pes b4 the way the dude jumps on his back for the header this has not been seen in football games yet so im very excited

Why though? Surely can't be worse than 2013?

I dont have any good reason for that, Its not cause of teaser, I dont judge that, cause its just teaser, but I dont know... Its just bad feeling, or I just dont believe that after so many years of disapointment, they can do a great game ?

It's only a teaser....i don't understand how people can be so positive or so negative from the images we have seen...
How people can make conclusions based on that teaser is totally beyond me.

Some people have a rather rich imagination.

You have to understand some people why they are so negative. They don't believe Konami. They waited 6 years for good Pes but all the time they were disappoited . One part of my heart have the same feeling. Six years ago i believe Konami 100% and i never thougt that they are so amateurs. For me they were kings football developers. Right now they looks in my eyes incalculably and amateurs. I believe them in 40%. :PIRATE:

Yea understandable.
