PES 2014 Appreciation Thread

hey everyone, installed the game with firepatch 6.0 yesterday but I'm running into this issue with the fidelity / texture quality during gameplay. it looks fine during menus and cutscenes (including goal celebrations) but during actual gameplay and replays it seriously drops off :( they look almost like PS2 era FIFA faces with unreadably pixelated shirt names and numbers.

I've attached a screenshot of the settings.exe that says my available VRAM is insufficient which I suspect is probably telling the game to lower the picture quality, but its crazy to me since my laptop can run PES 2021 very well despite that game requiring 4x as much minimum VRAM.

I'd appreciate any help and suggestions!
The game isn't using your discrete GPU, instead it's trying to use your integrated APU that comes with your CPU (AMD Radeon Graphics). Try to force the game to use your discrete GPU.

You can fix the "not enough VRAM" warning with this, but afaik it's a purely cosmetic change that doesn't have any change apart from preventing the warning before the game starts. I don't think it'll affect the picture quality in game.
 
Guys, I would like to create a modding community for PES 2014 fans. This is the most underrated part of the game, haters branded this version due to the lack of content and faces, not realizing that these problems are easily solved by modding, and most importantly - the gameplay. And here it is still more realistic than in PES 21.

Slow pace, the ball bounces during short passes, manual control, smooth players and a large variety of animations, unlike the wooden PES 21, where 10 animations spin the entire match in a circle thousands of times. I would like to take this game to the limit of perfection. But you can't handle this alone. Many links to editing tools are unavailable and the community is dead. How many of us are still such niche connoisseurs of a real simulator with the one and only gameplay in the entire history of PES and FIFA?

Let's help each other together, edit all the textures and structures, figure out which files are responsible for what. Together we can create faces for all players, current rosters and uniforms, TV scoreboards for each league, shields, banners. I can be responsible for each team's stadiums and commentators.

Who else has experience in editing PES, experience in developing patches? Let's unite and distribute a common scope of work, making an ideal simulator that in 2026 will be more realistic than online donation eFootball and FC.

Maybe someone also wants to learn how to edit this game? This version is not easy to mod in comparison with the PES 13 designer, but together and with our common efforts we will cope, brothers

I do my personal editing with the global editor tool and I quite have an outstanding sim that I watch for little tweaks I had to make here or there. Thus far I am only having a little issue with attacking players on corners, they never seem to attack the ball like the defenders do & I'm not finding anyway around it. I currently have every player with the same attacking/defense prowess values, so each player has the same reaction time, as well as physical balance. So my duels are a joy to watch, what separates them is their personal strength trait, which I think only PES 14 has with 2 windows for " Ability" & then a one for " Overall Ability". I love the values this game allows, so I can still edit the baseline of players but leave each still having personal traits that make them unique.

I don't have any experience with editing patches or mods though. Currently I'm doing this for Pes09/14/17. I don't enjoy the dribbling on 13 at all, so I have three different version's of the game that I absolutely enjoy. Only in pes2017, that I'm having to tweak very often to try and get the computer AI to dribble when needed but still give them the early cross for them to put the ball in the box when the striker is there because the AI always does the dumbest ish on the ball, especially on the wing. In 2014, I find the AI plays with alot more freedom/sense of doing skill moves while still playing intelligently.

Could the goalkeepers be fixed? Even with the 1.16 exe they're still very bad
I have changed every GK and made them 100x better, also lowered shot power of all players as well as pace.
In pes 2014 I only have the corner kick issue, otherwise everything else runs smoothly. I don't get the bug of players letting the ball just dribble out of play while they stand there by increasing their reaction time overall to both sides of the ball, works well.

Very broad question...I can give and e.g, shooting for instance is abit to OP, to many lasers that fly pass the keeper for an engine that put such emphasis on ball physics but I'm not sure how that can be fixed other than what I've done, - the overall shooting because the AI will hit the ball perfectly whenever they so desire. I know jenkey has an option in his fileloader but I can never figure out if ticking or unticking it makes shots more accurate or not.
 
I don’t know, I guess in my game I never notice how bad the keepers are - they seem realistic to me

My focus is more on other aspects of gameplay

Oh yeah, i found them very weak in terms of 9/10 shots in the box would score & I also had a problem of them coming off the line in 1v1 break aways.
However I did adjust it with the global editing tool. I do wish the global editor was more like ejogc327 that I use on 2017 because it allows me to mass edit player styles as well. Now if someone could get this to work for 2014, I could make every GK an offensive GK, which completely changes their behavior as just one example. The same goes for Anchorman for CDM & Instigator for your Cb's.
As you can see, the editing studio for 2014 is pretty limited in comparison.

You can edit everything with Claude Code - you no longer need the editor

Maybe i’ll create an editor for those that don’t have it

Probably better to just gather requests and build it rather than release an editor though

Well I need to learn that for sure, I'll dm you right now...I have to exercise with the wife soon but feel free to keep this going, so we can bring awareness to pes 2014.
Btw you can set the CDM's to Instigator as well. Btw, I have edited down speed/low/high-pass/finishing....pretty much all of the them except the GK's, to make it more realistic. Tinkering with those is what makes the game such a joy to watch now. Also if you could remove Hole Player from Cm's would be great. I'll leave Hole players to SS and maybe some AMF, however I prefer my AMF's to be either dummy runners, Creative Playmakers or Classic #10.
At CM they vacate the middle of the pitch to often and just swarm the box. I find B2B do the same thing but I need to run more test.

I know I'm not the only one who thinks that one of the biggest drawbacks in PES 2014 is the lack of rain and cloudy weather. I don't know how possible this is to mod, but it really detracts from the immersion when every single match is either clear or sunny. If this could be implemented somehow (with or without the changing ball physics, of course with ball physics change it would be better but if not, I think the main thing are the visuals) that would be so awesome. It's something that has been bugging a few of us for years, like for example me and my friend @Madmac79 :LOL:

If this could be somehow modded in, at least for some of us, it would be a game changer! Great to see renewed interest in this game, one of the most under-appreciated in the saga! :)

Yep, agree with Millos! Would love to have rain in 2014. But generally I think it's great if we see a renaissance of Pers 2014. Game has a lot of untapped potential...

I'd love to give a try to your OF (if you feel like sharing, of course!). Is it built on a patch? Or just on the default game?

I feel like 2014 is much more stats based compared with later ones. One of the problems of the default game was that stats were too high in my opinions, even for lower teams/players... time ago I played a bit with the global editor myself, modifying stuff like ball control for example gave very tangible results immediately.

Bro, do I understand correctly that this program will allow me to create a league structure, rename them and the teams of the participants, rename the teams and make football players - that is, create a base for the patch? Can you please share it? its my dream for modding with stratch…

I feel like 2014 is much more stats based compared with later ones. Surely, give it a go & feel free to thinker with it as you wish to appease to your style. My edits are used on the FirePatch + Edit, patch 1.13. I do absolutely love the global tool & watching the midfield battles in particular. Also I have removed all Man Marking cards, contrary to most suggestions, I'll tell you why. I have tested both ways, with and without & I've found the cards make such a huge difference that you cannot ignore. You will have defenders who will magically always tackle and win the ball correctly with the MM card on, usually without committing a foul. Even with bad defenders. When I've tested with it off & leave it all down to the player's actual attribute's, you have a fairer battle. You can thinker and test for yourselves too. So I am wondering across the board how other cards massively influence plays. I.e, PinPoint Crossing, picking players out on a dime most of the time. Let that be determined by the play's ability imo. Anyway let me stop my ranting lol, you guys can let me know your idea's.

Thanks mate, running some sims right now. Also the game runs better or the AI plays smoother/dribbles on Top Player or Professional. More so than SuperStar where the AI almost tries to play like bulldozers, the player attributes are overridden more often than not in Superstar mode. I will also leave each player dribbling & Explosive power. Will give you more feedback after I run a few more test.
Remember too I have all Body Balance at 80, so I have to thinker with that one, so you can more enjoy the 50/50 physical battles. The individual physical strength & other variables will determine who comes out on top.
Btw is there anyway to have each of the top leagues actual custom formations, including combination play, set pieces etc?

Here I have taken off Man Marking from all players to ensure attributes actually take precedent & not player cards. Watch as Messi breaks from inside his own half, then note Ramos comes high to press but misreads the play slightly and Messi is by him. With the MM card, Ramos would've 100% win that ball there. Then Di Maria comes to support Ramos, the beauty of Messi shielding off Ramos on the outside right & Di Maria coming from the inside left...watch the nibble inside cut by Messi to beat Di Maria & then play a lovely through ball for Neymar to score, although he is offside. Usually with Pes games, Messi never dribbles like this, like he does in real life. I have done this by giving all players equal Body Balance but leaving their personal strength traits to determine who wins the duels, so each player is still unique Only the baseline is edited, attacking/defensive prowess are all equal because each player has the same reaction time to the ball in both phases. Just like real life. The difference comes in with each player's personal traits, i.e ball control/dribbling/explosive power. IRL even if a player is stronger than another, the amount of strength allowed in duels has a limit, otherwise a foul is called. Messi despite whatever stats in-game, he's usually bullied and pushed off the ball/dribble & lose the ball constantly. This is what I am looking for in these test.
