PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Me and my mates are thinking of getting this because we are sick of Fifa and its irritating unrealistic gameplay, Now I have the pc version and its great with all the patches and that, I have never played online on it.

Just wondering what its like online and if its any good to play with just mates? and just another thing, is this like Fifa when it comes to pace?

I hate the fact on fifa pace is the only way you can win on the game so im hopping pes is a bit more realistic when it comes to online?

The games only 20 quid on amazon now.

pc with a patch might do something to the gameplay.
but on a console PESS=PUSS
Pure Utter Scripted Shite especially online add to that invisible walls that stop your player coming across to get the ball.
stupid AI of teammates when defending cus player switching dont work properly a player that should be under your control but is not, will not respond to a loose ball even if its an inch in front of him. more often he will back or worse run away from it. stupid!!
gks especially 1v1 or useless if a player cuts across them they stand at such an angle its virtually impossible not to score.
player switching as mentioned is rubbish.
there you have it all the basics of what should be a good game let down by the above.
when you have the ball its almost premier league when you have not got the ball its blue square north league.
the AI at times is diabolical, they have a long way to go for pes 2014 but bringing league mode back would be a start.

Ive had some tight games online tbh mate. Just depends. What teams are using and tactics.

ALso you can edit your team tactics sliders to counter most of the cheap goals.

Thanks Calcio. Can anyone point me in the right direction for an Xbox 360 option file? I looked in the relevant sub forum, but couldn't see any.

Bro - there's no league mode but you don't start ML with black boots anymore. You're awarded boots but I never use them. Haven't noticed opposition players using them but maybe they do and I just haven't noticed it.

p.s. Daymos Option File is excellent, over at Only Pro Evolutions forums.

Hi!

I`m ready to finally start a Master League after editing all the January transfers through the night(!)

I`m on PS3 and I have a question(s) regarding Player Development. After reading through these forums I am seeing bad things about the Player Development. It seems the the players are rising too quickly and after a few season the game is a bit ridiculous to play - Is this still the case with the latest patch?

If it is still bad what are the consequences of turning player development off? The following questions are regarding if you do turn the player development to OFF

Do your players still rise/fall but the players in other teams do not?

What happens when players retire, are you left with a world of mediocre players?

What is the point in hiring coaches and such if there is no player development?

Do players still drop in ability as they get older?

I think that`s it, thanks for any help and advice :) I`m so undecided whether to turn the player development on or off. I really want a long lasting game. I`m planning on starting with Liverpool

I've left player development on, in my ML.

From what has happened so far (I'm only in my first season) I have to say that player growth is a bit on the fast side. 4 or 5 of my players have improved by at least 3 points, this is towards the end of the season.

My personal opinion is that, I'd rather have it on than off. I want to play an ML that will last me for several seasons and I feel that the game could get a bit stale if every player's OVR stays the same. There would be no upcoming players for you to snap up etc.

That's all just my personal opinion though.

Many thanks for your reply. Just realised I should have posted in the master league thread so apologies about that :)

So decided to buy this for box as I was fed up with fifa, thought I would give MLO a go. Was fun at first as could make my own custom emblem, kit and stuff, Something that I wish you could do on UT on fifa. Then after it kinda yeah goes a bit shit...

Lets start it off with the players you start with. Yes I understand everyone starts with the same bloody players at one point but its not fair when I have to play against people have a much better team than me even tho I have set the settings to match similar level teams, Jesus christ so lost my first 5-6 games. Ah-well maybe a little bit off money to help me buy a new player...

Gate money: 33k Fucking 33k?? thats it? yet if I win one I get 900k. Silly stuff really. So the only way to get a bit more money is win or sack players who are worth about 500k. Bull shit.

Plus the gameplay online Didnt think it could be any worse, well it was.Worse than fifa, and thats hard to beat.

Well basically people just play through balls every second and just double press against you. and cause my players are so slow and shit it makes it hard to keep the ball due to double pressing. Offline I really enjoy tho. Nice that teams have a sense of individuel tactics unlike fifa.

MLO would be a good game mode if it was offline.

MLO would be a good game mode if it was offline.

Indeed it would but then again already got the original ML on there anyway.

It would perhaps of been better if they gave the option to play offline matches as-well so that it would make it easier when first starting up? Then again would need a name change... either way if this is on the Fox engine pes then a lot of stuff needs to be sorted.

I really hope this new engine is the start of a brand new era for pes and a successful one. I couldn't give two shits if the graphics is alot better.

All I want is a realistic simulation of football that rewards you for skill and football knowledge. Plus a balanced game that also doesn't make certain skills useless( slow players etc) and last but not least, a realistic single player experience and online experience. Add things like 2v2, A better structured online master league, Pro clubs and so on.

Pes as so much potential to really sort its self out this year and perhaps take a step ahead for once.

Just started a new ML having given the game a long rest, I'm enjoying it. I've pretty much disabled everything in the game and am using my team's real players and finances (as opposed to the ML defaults) so that it plays like a standard League Mode with the added content of player transfers and Champions/Europa League integrated into it. I'm rather enjoying it.

There is still chance PES 2014 to be next gen game !
Sony will annoyance they new console on 20th February
YouTube - #PlayStation2013
PlayStation 4 will be more powerful than the next Xbox, will ship with a redesigned controller and launch by the end of the year in Japan and the US. PlayStation 4’s European launch will follow in early 2014.

To have nextgen PES this year is 60/40

True, and good old Sony leaving Europe last again, one of the reasons why I decided to not bother waiting and get a 360 when they delayed the ps3.

Every new generation is huge step up with graphics and physics. NES to SNES to N64 to PSone, PS2 ect. But now .. we will have the same engine for both generation that sounds damn weird ...
In my opinion, Konami wanted to announce new engine early, before the release of PES 2013 , to show that they will work on something better in the future, to calm and reduce irritation of fans , but they can't announce that the next PES will be Next Gen because in this case , that will be announcement of new consoles, that would bring them a lot of trouble.
I think that PES for Xbox 360 and PS3 will use the current engine while Fox will be the new generation. But if it turns out that both generations will enjoy the same endzhan, this means that the real differences between the two consoles will not be that much, at least in terms of graphical aspect would have a high resolution and framerate .. who know .

Don't agree with you. In my opinion Pes 2014 on FOX ENGINE will be on PS3/XBOX360 and maybe for PS4/XBOX720 but with better graphics, lights etc. For next year difference between FOX on current gen and next gen will be huge but not in this time.

The PS3 is more powerful (on paper) than the Xbox 360 yet most multi-format games look better on the 360.

Just saying.

That´s why we have so many shit games nowadays. If, for exemple, PES was made only for PS3 it would be miles better.

just saying also... :P

Without turning this thread into a fanboy console fight, I disagree. The same could be said if PES was developed exclusively for the 360. Devoting development time and resources to one platform is always going to give better results.

Besides, for every graphically impressive PS3 exclusive there is an equally impressive equivalent on the 360. Take GT5 vs Forza 4 for example. GT5 runs at a higher resolution and can look stunning in patches, but the frame rate is all over the place and the game is crippled by the PS3's lack of RAM. Forza holds a steady 60fps while looking great all the time.

Truth be told I don't give a shit as I don't play on either console any more. PC kicks both their arses. :P

I had a few ML games tonight with Fiorentina in Serie A, with player development turned off, and the game plays dramatically different. I love it. Whereas in my previous ML, right from the off, players are developing and increasing stats, because every player now remains the same, the games are perfectly paced, players don't feel superhuman, and they do everything at their proper speed. Anyone who got a fair way into their ML with player development turned on will know what I mean here. No more players at crazy high stats, it's great. The game now plays like it does in exhibition mode, players feel more individual than they do when they increase, and player dev being turned off also means that their teamwork stats remain the same when they move club - they no longer plummet. Which, for me, is great.

Basically I'm playing as Fiorentina in Serie A, on Superstar, no player development and low transfer activity, and am not using any of the items to boost stats either. I'm kinda getting my arse handed to me but the games are so much more balanced, slower paced and midfield-based. I think that with player development turned on, and after a few seasons, the game pretty much adapts the way the CPU plays due to their abilities. Once players get between 90-100, their pace in particular seemed to go through the roof, and the result was that the CPU went super direct and constant attack. Without these boosts to stats, the game is vastly superior. Players now have clear first touch, dribbling feels more slow and technical it's great.

I've basically made it into League Mode with added transfers and CL integration and it's great. Players remain more realistically rated - IMO someone like Jack Wilshere should be rated, and remain, at around 75 or so. He's a very good domestic player, and better he stays at that rating than at something like 95 he'd normally end up being.

Turning off player development has kinda rekindled the game for me I think.

I agree with you.
Pes 5 was made for xbox, ps2 and pc yet it's an awesome football game

Playing more pes 2013 demo 2 again, now that africa cup is going on and enjoying it on top-player despite the ridiculous short time of 5 mins per match.

I think Konami is on the right track with PES, imho it reflects much more real football than Fifa 13.

It can easily frustrate those not knowing how real football is played, trying to run with the ball alot or trying to go the first possible route and playing obvious passes.

Key is to not run with the ball much and instead to shield the ball and look if there is enough space for running or if it is better to play a pass. And when playing a pass, not to play it into sectors that are crowded and where the opponent expects the pass to go, except if you think you can outwit the opponent and make a brilliant throughball through the crowded areas.

Slight tapping of r2 to get that short close control at the right time to outstep a defender is also important. Slight tapping because pressing it for longer the player uses that rolling-the-ball-animation which slows you down considerably.

Oh, and compared to PES 2010-2012, the goalkeeper is actually pretty reliable.

These are imho the areas that need work:

1. A real-time-twotiered stamina/fatigue-system is sorely missing.
2. The CPU's AI could be better at keeping possession and more creative at creating opportunities.
3. Player's reactions to loose balls could be more realistical.
4. More direct control over the players and less automated running and the ability to leave rails without pressing extra-buttons.
5. More intuitive ways to use fake-shooting, -passing and -crossing.
6. The look of nightgames and more use of day-games in the competitive matches.
7. Use of flags in the crowds.
8. Third kits and kits getting dirty.
