PES 2013 Discussion Thread

With things happening behind-the-scenes, I hope Jon would give us more this week as promised.

I've played a full season with Atletico Madrid and now am 3/4 through a season with Atletico Mineiro in the Brazilian League (via Master League). I get the boot messages and ignore them. Once in a blue moon I get a cutscene...which I can quickly click out of, without having to go talk to players in other sub-menu's. If I had listened to half the people around these forums, I would have been scared off playing the game instead of enjoying some wonderful football experiences on my TV screen!

The only two things that have detracted from my gameplay experience on PES 2013 is the lack of a customisable camera and the too often clunky goalkeeper diving animations. If they can get that improved ten fold on PES 2014 plus introduce more varied ball trajectories on the shooting and dribbling, I'll be a very happy camper.

Very odd, encountered a cut scene of me (the manager) shouting at my team about how the fans are losing patience.

This is after going through December without defeat, so I'm really confused. Did anyone else get this?

Can anyone please tell me if Konami have released a patch that gives the user the option to turn off the horrendous RPG magic (and black generic) boots in Master league mode for both your team and the computer controlled AI team? And have they added a normal league mode back in? And finally does the retail version play the same as demo 2? Thanks.
Anyone?

"Interesting concepts" worries me !!
Im sure the boots from last year were classed as interesting developments, maybe this year we'll have hover boots!!!!

I'm noticing fairly recently that keepers are often very badly positioned. Sometimes they only seem interested in protecting one half of the goal. Some easy goals are the result

actually i think boots is a fun idea for when u have a fake master league team. If you have crap striker you can win boots with extra kickin gpower and improve him lol...arcadey but fun.

but when it comes to the real players its kinda lolable

As I said above - you press ONE FRIGGIN BUTTON and ignore the boot message and you don't have to use them. I pretty much have played two different seasons, essentially as league modes so far.

I wish more people would make up their own minds by trying something out and not falling into line with general consensus.

i still have the konami email saying that for pes 2013 they had specifically worked on goalkeepers. what a joke of a company, you shouldn't bullshit your most loyal fan base then spend time filling in long and boring feed back forms.

"For example, you rated goalkeepers slightly above average to good – in other words: not good enough for PES. A common complaint about goalies concerned the lack of animations. Many of you also criticized how long it takes to bring the ball back into play after the goalkeeper catches the ball. To address the situation we sought advice from pro keepers and worked hard on AI. The result: far more options, many new animations and even different play styles."

but they are now 10 millions customers behind fifa so they get what they deserve after all. i wish 2k would enter the arena though. both pes and fifa are meediocre in their own ways.

Calcio - I use boots now and then, sometimes dont, it doesnt bother me, the point was that the introduction of boots and items into ML was a stupid idea, confirmed by the fact that a lot of people, yourself included dont use them.
Yes you can largely ignore them, but you still get the annoying messages after every win saying youve won more boots etc, that you CANT skip.

So far from falling in line with any type of concensus, i do my own thing, but ';interesting concepts' is noit what the new engine should be throwing up, it should be fixing and improving the fucking basics, that Konami get so wrong and providing a living breathing, rich immersive playing environment.

Murphy says tech demos of new engine are impressive.

Take that as you wish

The engine could resemble a ZX Spectrum game and he'd still say it was impressive. His job probably depends on saying such stuff.

I'm paying zero attention to anything Konami say and will judge things for myself when we have video and demos to draw conclusions from. That said, any assertions of 'interesting concepts' are unsettling, not least because, generally speaking, Konami appear from the outside to be a collection of lunatics.

Me and my mates are thinking of getting this because we are sick of Fifa and its irritating unrealistic gameplay, Now I have the pc version and its great with all the patches and that, I have never played online on it.

Just wondering what its like online and if its any good to play with just mates? and just another thing, is this like Fifa when it comes to pace?

I hate the fact on fifa pace is the only way you can win on the game so im hopping pes is a bit more realistic when it comes to online?

The games only 20 quid on amazon now.

Sorry to disappoint you but my experience with online play is that it's not realistic at all, and lots of pace-abusing (or rather, speed merchant abusing). Also there's no system in fifa to make sure you get an opponent with a team of similar quality, meaning everybody just picks Real Madrid and Barça all the time.

However, it might be different if you stick with non-assisted play. Myself I haven't tried that much yet so I don't know. Most of the online play is horrible though, completely unsportive and not like the real game at all. At least that's my opinion.

That however doesn't mean that it's a bad game to play with just mates. It depends on how you and your mates play the game, but if you have a quite similar view on how the game should be played, it's great.

There's also a great Community option which let's you manage friends and statistics and all, a great feature for playing against friends.. oh wait nevermind they removed this since last year.

I dont rate any football game online to be honest. Its always bullshit frantic slog fests which result in high scorelines.

Give me ML every day man. Sex...
