PES 2013 Discussion Thread

So, I've been discussing this in the Master League thread, and I think the game mode is bugged. The most vital stat for every player in ML is the teamwork stat, it defines how well your players move off the ball, how well you defend, it's vital to your team. With low teamwork, you even frequently find that playing a simple pass to a team mate will see him totally misjudge the flight of the ball and run past it before the cursor allows you control.

Now, given how vital this stat is, I've noticed that if you sign a player with teamwork stats of, say, 75, when he transfers to your club it immediately plummets to anywhere between 40-50. This happened in PES2012 but was used to ensure your player needs to 'bed-in' to your side. Play him a few times in a row and his teamwork stat would shoot back up again. Plus, training your side in teamwork would also help boost this stat, as team work is of course a vital part of a club's training between matches.

In PES2013 ML, if you then play your new signing regularly, week-in, week-out, his teamwork stat doesn't increase in any real way. It's taken one of my youth players I'd promoted, and then with a new signing, around 20 consecutive matches to increase by 1. So, my signing had a teamwork stat of 75, which dropped down to 45 when I signed him, and now after over half a season he's now on a whopping 46. Which means he still doesn't really function properly in my team.

There should be the option to boost this as in PES2012 by training him. Not so. Konami have removed the teamwork training option from the game. And there aren't even any items to buy in the shop and equip to individual players that relate to teamwork stats.

So there you have it. A game mode focused around the idea of building a team from nothing, except this year you can't actually integrate them properly into your side without playing them every week for 4 or 5 seasons in a row. My new signing isn't going to have his teamwork stat get back to 75 unless he's nearing retirement age.

Given how vital they've also made the stat to succeeding in ML, it seems farcical to me that you can't at least manage to get that stat back to what it was before you signed them.

So that's ML pretty much ruined for me personally.

This means, well, I now have a game where;

- There is no league mode to play.
- Online is useless to me because I hate online.
- ML (the only reason I saw fit to buy the game) seems broken.

That leaves me with, what, the occasional Champions League or Copa tournament to play over and over again? Unless there's a way around this ML thing then I"m probably putting the game up for sale. There'll be absolutley nothing to do. I never thought I'd see the day when I sold PES because there were no actual game modes to play.

I'm amazed that no-one else seems bothered by the teamwork thing. It's the one key stat for every player that lets you build a decent side.

Oh and the other thing is, during my ML, the game frankly keeps freaking out. Check out this stunning strike from the CPU. First my keeper flaps and screws up gathering the cross. Then the ball defies the laws of physics and somehow 'spins' around the body of my defender. I also like how my keeper then belly flops on the ground and totally misses the ball. Then how my defender (the number 3) stands still and crouches like a giant statue. Then how the same player manages to re-animate himself from stasis before deciding to run away from the ball and conveniently leave the ball open for the striker. All this despite me trying to force that number 3 to run towards the ball, not away from it. He moved independently of my controls.

This is in the 80th minute. I lose 1-0. All this despite me hammering clear and tackle the ENTIRE time of this clip. But, the whole time, I absolutely knew from experience with this game that somehow all my defenders would manage to end up stumbling the other side of the ball and the striker being presented with an open goal.

I know this because shit like this is happening all the time in my ML. Maybe it's because of low teamwork stats. Which you can't improve...

Got a good few games last night, this game is teetering on the edge for me, much like 2012 for a good while, I either love it or want to break things. I agree that the option to clear the ball is sometimes just not there and you can pretty much predict when a goalmouth scramble will end up in your own net.
What most annoys me though is the sometimes staggering inability of the AI to recognize who I want to pass the ball to. Sometimes I even make a perfectly weighted pass, but no, I somehow wanted this ball to reach someone much further away, who needs to track back to get it, and most likely wont even reach it. I don't know how many chances I have missed because of this, it was a pain in 2012 as well.

There is still a lot of stuff left to master, the new first touch, etc. I think things will get better. And on the positive side, the double tap x tackle is brilliant.

I hear ya. I am getting tired of trying though. Never thought I would say that LOL

Also it is more rewarding, you can make nutmeg shot, you can make ground shot ( Y ), I have scored some fantastic goals with low shot, unbelieveble realistic, when ball just bounced off the ground and just slighty made it above keepers glove as he made diving save, realistic as hell, youd dont see something like this on FIFA,
Also manual shot as the only choice would make online games different cathegory, but its only wish...

I'm just on a massive downer with this game at the moment. There are so many little things that have always slightly bugged me but now really are getting on my nerves.

Like why, in this day and age, does the game STILL force your goalkeeper to kick the ball? Perhaps fair enough online, but offline, when your keeper has the ball in his hands, just stop the clock until you choose to kick or throw the ball, and allow you to choose when to do it.

When you come under heavy pressure from the CPU, sometimes all you want to do is let your keeper keep hold of the ball and wait for your team to move up the pitch, regroup, get back into position, and start again with a kick upfield. Just as in real life.

But nope, you are forced to do a quick throw as soon as your keeper gets the ball, or the game just waits a really short amount of time and makes him auto-kick the ball upfield, long before any of your players are back in position or even up the field. So the CPU gathers the ball and comes straight back at you with your players deep in their own half and some out of position.

There are tons of little issues like this. If you try free-training, when the keeper saves a shot, can't he just roll the ball back to you so you can keep on practising your shooting? Why, given it's a free-training session, does the CPU keeper gather the ball then boot it down the pitch? It's always been like this and I don't know why.

And I know lots of people have mentioned keeper throws before, but why are they so bad? You'd think someone in Konami would have picked up on this, especially as they were actively CHANGED so that they now float up in the air. I've thrown the ball out to a full back before and he's been closed down and tackled because by the time the throw has looped down from the sky, the CPU has closed him down. But FIFA's been doing keeper control when he's holding the ball perfectly for years, all Konami have to do is copy that. Make it so you can wait before kicking the ball upfield and allow your keeper to throw the ball properly.

But nothing's pissing me off more than ML. How could they ever think it's a good idea to do what they have to the teamwork stats? Especially when they then put so much focus on it when building a team? They make it like it is and then decide to completely remove any training that can improve it, then make it so that playing barely even increases the stat? Really?

The game is just PES 2012 with bit make up !
I was very excited after the demo, i was think " well ,this will be the game... finally " but now .. i think the game is same crap like all other current gen games . I'm do not h8 the game, but i don't love it . I was have some fun with some part of the gameplay, there has stuff in spot on , but there is things like video up one , idiotic A.I. , cheating is still here, bit more overpower shots , awful online and offline modes , Player ID is a joke and players individuality are more product of ower imaginations , not from own animations, or turns, something like that ...
And you say that is the best footy game for ever ? ... please :)... that is insult for all other old good games out there .
The game has BIG potential to be the best , but Konami are screw up , again :) and they know it, that why the official PES 2013 site still don't release the official forum and is still " PES Forum is coming soon "becouse they know the angry fans will flood them with criticism

I'm getting rid of my pes13.
I just can't be bothered with all the rage it gives me.
For the first time I'm getting a lot of joy from FIFA.
Pains me to say that but it's true.
Let's hope the fox engine can sort this once great game out

I recently got rid of PES 2013. Life's too short for me to put anymore effort into trying to enjoy PES anymore in its current state. Hopefully PES 2014 will look and feel nothing like PES 2008-2013.

as a fun thing to do to pass on an hour its an ok game. but as a serious football game then"give me a break" sure it maybe in some ways the best of the next gen games but for gods sake konami bring back more game modes and fix the friggin BASICS. team mates ai, player switching and gks and stop the stupid scripting. players just running away from the ball when its next to them is the most annoying thing ever. if it happened once every 5 to 6 games at least that would be something. but its every game for god sake.they should have sold this game as around the £20 mark a sort of gt prologue. to charge full price is nothing short of daylight robbery!!!

I have absolutely no idea what the problem is. I'm with Rob, Dan and Gomito, this game is an absolute work of art in my book. On Zero, the play is almost limitless, and the range of passing goes waaaaaay beyond incredible. I can attempt literally anything.

Not ventured online against the spammers, so don't know much about that.

Yes we all know, that you re playing your own diff. version of the game every year since PES 2008.

i can see where your coming from jimmy. but for me the problem is with the things you have no control over.AI of your team mates running away from the ball at times or just standing still when there is a loose ball just in front of them. this has been in all next gen versions and they have done nothing about it. player switching is another problem. the above problem results alot from the player switching not working correctly
as the player maybe closest to the ball but you cannot select him.
then there is the gks as stated in a post above if you throw the ball out it seems to take a age for it to drop down to your player as it is so floaty and you are closed down especially playing online. and as regards gks against 1v1s online your gks are a joke unless playing as real madrid or barca.also your defenders at times appear on rails even when controlling them i move my defender to come across my opponents forwrd but he will not do it he will run keeping on his original path like he is a train on a track. its as tho your not fully in control of your team and the game engine cpu whatever is at times dictateing whats happening on the pitch.its been the same in 10 11,12 and now 13 and they do nothing about it. coupled with less game modes no new editing stuffetc surely to me this could be pes12 with an updated patch hence why they ever charged £40 for it is a joke!!
thats my feelings, but each to there own i suppose. i don't hate the game that i won't play it at all, its just after a short space of time i get bored of the same crap happening. and think they could have made this as with pes12 so much better. and who the hell have they been listening too that said please please konami take out the league mode!!!!

Last night I played some competition, I gave it a try, this mode is totall joke.
First I played Competition ( Coach mode ), its all about the form and luck and waiting for some stupid opponent mistake , you play 5 minutes matches, instead of classic 10 minutes, so my results were 1:0 w, 0:0, 0:0, 0:0, in 5 minutes those players cant do anything , so its all about luck and form.
Last game I was loosing 1:0 , after totall absurd mistake from my best defender, he was playing with the ball on the border of my small box instead of simply passing or kicking ball away ( its sometimes really fun to watch how konami made of the world claass players clowns without brain ), it was about 84th minute I set all out attack, but then the game suddenly stopped and it threw me back to the main menu and wrote that this game ends without results because it is end of qualifing round :-)))), unbelieveble, that other player must have chewed his controller, Konami s great programming again showed their true colours, 84 th minute in 5 minute match ? They cant wait 30 second, I could understand if it was a half time, but this is simply ridicoulus.
Well then the game said to me I was 19th in the rank, so I didnt make to to Play offs, bye bye Coach mode comptetition I played it twice, first and last tine as well.

Then I tried twice Competition when I was playing.
First of all 5 minutes its not enough, every player just sets player support as high as he can and smashes the triangle button as no tommorow, cause simply you cant afford to play slow balanced possesion game.
I ll explain.
First competition I played 4 games, I lost my first 2:0, then I won three in a row ( beated quite strong opponents ), 2:1 ( some spanish player, insulting me after he lost, and lagging as fuck in the last 15 minutes beacause I made comeback from 0:1), 2:0, 1:0.
I thought i made it to the Play offs, cause only 3 best games count in competition ) so my lost didnt count ), well I was wrong, I was 37th !!!.
With 3 wins but I had bad score , first player had 3 games and 16:0, wtf ? In 5 minutes games, what are these people doing ? Ok

So i have to play quicker next time, I signed for another competition, First game 4:0, opponent wasnt very good I played with my new star De Mirch who scored hattrick, he got 3 passes from Sneider, going 1on1 on keeper, De Mirch is btw the best player in the universe at least on PES 2013 ( I never heard of this player btw ).
2nd game I won 4:1, again my new star De Mirch and Aguero made it, I was smashing triangle as no tommorow and it worked fantastic.
3nd game was great , It was some spanish player, game at my suprise ran without lags and player was very good, at the beginning of the 2nd half I scored 1:0, since then he stopped the game , included Ronaldo in his line up and lagg fest began, he was running with Ronlado as crazy , but he was unlucky to score, I scored my second in 85th minute, he stopped the game , did something to connection and the game threw me to the main menu with message that these game wont count because connection worsened !!!
Wtf ? F.. spanish cheater.

Short story long story ? Quick to my 4th game, it happened the same, this time with some froggeater from France, well he decided, not to fininsh the game in 60th minute , he was not playing good, so when I scored my 3rd goal he did the same as that spanish player, so I finished only 2 games that counted, I didnt qualify, and if only that game 2:0 with that spain player did count, I wqould be in Play offs, but play offs was again played with Spanish laggers that dont loose a single game, because if they do they simply set something to their routers to cheat you, way to go KONAMI, that costed me like 40 EURO:

Yes I am, and it's brilliant. Konami design a game just for me, because I can appreciate everything they do well. ;)

I am the same, I was in the restaurant yesterday, and I ordered steak with pomme frites, steak sucked couse they totally messed it, but pomme frites were great with ketchup , I wanted steak, but I ended eating potatoes, I was very happy becuase I can appreciate everything they do well

Im having so much fun at the moment on become a legend (RKC Waalwijk) and Master league with Man Utd.

In my BAL first season i have smashed in a total of 33 goals in 31 appearances and drafted Waalwijk up to 4th in the table. I am set for player and top scorer of the season hopefully and a dream move to Man Utd in a couple of seasons :)

In My Utd game im top of the league and just had an incredible game against Newcastle at Old Trafford where i beat them 11-3and missed several other chances! Love this game. I have mastered finishing almost :)

Both games are on top player.

The problem for me is no league mode. Simple as that really. Those that never play the mode can get on and enjoy PES2013, but for people like me the game has come to a grinding halt. The gameplay could be the best ever but when the way I like to play the game has been completely removed then the whole games is rendered worthless in my opinion.

MLO is a bit of a mess but its nice giving the superstar teams a run for their money with the weaker players that you get.

If you play a ranking match and search for similar settings you do get unassisted opposnents but not very often.

The problem though is that PES still rewards counter attacking football too much and when you try Barcaesque possession play its hard to string those wonderful 1 touch passes together more due to the AI passing to the wrong recipients.

When you lose the ball its a few passes upfield usually a long throughball and you behind in no time. I refuse to go the cheap route though and prefer a good build up. Pity konami seem intent to let the game playout as a spam fest

We will see you back here in a few weeks

Last year I'd say you'd be right but not this year. As I said the game just frustrates me and I'm not enjoying it and its been this way since 2008 with the exception of pes10 which I loved. So much so I traded 11 in for 10 again within a week. As Ipswich said life's too short to get wound up by a game so ill trade it tomorrow.

fair enough, although if you're trading this and play fifa instead online, you will get wounded up alot more as they have one of the worst servers around and majority of online games is based around speed so beware.

That is the reason why so many people play FIFA, today s gaming is about online, people want to play vs other people, its simple as that, Konani still lives lives 15 years ago when PS1 was strictly offline gaming.

The you go online wheres the diff. ?
Both FIFA 13 and PES 2013 have bad def. AI, both games are based on Counter attacks, thats fact, on FIFA you get great online modes, great graphic, great servers, cheaters cant disconnect you game like on PES 2013 , what do you choose to play ? FIFA 13 f.e. has great headers and great airt battles.

But still, the reason why I am playing PES is cause its still got some better football feeling then FIFA despite all nonsenses that this game contains, but PES 2014 has to come with something really good otherwise they will face elimination same as NHL 2k

So I gave up playing my Master League earlier as I was getting absolutely hammered. Final straw was when I was 5-0 down inside 28 minutes. By 28 matches in, I'd conceded something like 55 goals and was sitting third from bottom of division 2. This was on the patched version of the game, Superstar, no assists, and the crappy ML default players.

Aside from the crazily lethal CPU, the main issue was that I never felt in control of my players. This was down to them being so poor and lowly-rated, but nevertheless it pissed me off to repeatedly concede goals because I couldn't stop my players from running away from the ball, refusing to kick it even when the power bar was charged, CPU waltzing through my tackles at will, and even players just letting through balls etc run under their feet.

Also, the number of goals scored by other teams was way disproportionate to what I was scoring and conceding. All in all, it was borderline unplayable due to how hard it was.

I then decided to restart my ML, with the exact same settings, same team, everything. But the one key difference was that I decided to delete the patch before I started. Now, I know people laugh it off as a placebo, but the difference has been absolutely remarkable.

First off, the CPU is having far more possession than it was with the patch. Before, I'd lose every game 3, 4 or 5 -0 but always have around 58% of the ball. My first 5 games of ML without the patch, most games have finished 50-50.

Secondly, I'm positive the patch made fundamental changes to the tackling system. Without the patch, I can actually make tackles, block the ball, it all feels fair, even and I win my fair share of the ball. With the patch, I was constantly finding the CPU skipping over tackle after tackle just as in PES2012.

Thirdly, the CPU is more error prone and more 'human' like pre-patch. It's no longer robotic with its precision in front of goal, passes go astray, and the CPU is more patient with the ball. There are more yellow cards, the play is slower and like I said, the key is that something post-patch was done to the tackling to make it far less effective.

Lastly, that feeling of having to constantly battle against my ML default players from running away from the ball, or doing bizarre things that I didn't tell them to do, has totally disappeared as soon as I removed the patch and started ML again. The players are still poor, but if I tell them to move towards the ball they no longer go haywire and do their own thing.

In short, my ML since removing the patch has improved 200%. In fact, from being third from bottom after 28 games with 4 wins all season and nearly 60 goals conceded, my first five games have seen me now top of the league with 3 wins and 2 draws. And all on identical settings, just without the patch.

That's not to say the game is easy, I'm desperately holding on for a lot of those wins, but the brutal nature of the CPU deciding when it's going to score seems to be missing.

Call me crazy but there have to be gameplay changes to the CPU in that patch. The game in my ML is totally different without the patch.

Oh, and as for the number of CPU goals scored, its seems to be corrected quite a bit without the patch. Some teams have scored the same number as me, my totals are in keeping with the rest of the division so far. With the patch installed, my goals scored and conceded totals were over triple that of anyone else in the division.

Go figure.

So let me get this straight - you don't like the stupid, unrealistic playing styles in online competitions, so you decide to become another person using unrealistic playing styles in online competitions? Oh well, I suppose winning is the only important thing. You should try using the lag cheat. It will help you win more games.

Wtf ? F.. spanish cheater.

You've been an Evo-Web member almost ten years - have you not noticed that we don't tend to like ignorant xenophobes round here?
