PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Lami - get yourself back on Xbox live so you can join me, Robovery and a couple of other lads for some 2 v 2 or more. Should be good I hope!

Sorry don't talk to copycats!

:P

Hopefully I will mate. Just need to sort my financials :) There's a chance I'm going overseas for a few weeks soon too so it's all affecting it atm.

I'll try that as soon as I'm back.

How did superstar, +1 speed and evospeed 3 ball go for you btw? Was is a good experience or was it like Suuuuuuupertalk's?

Only got to play 1 game offline since then and I tried out long cam then medium cam in that game. Knocked it back to 0 speed for those camera angles. If medium cam was zoomed out a little more it would be great as I love the dynamic cam from FIFA. Nice open angle on the goal and good detail visually. You can see who your players are and the dribbling is easier.

Hard to say really - I think if you keep playing exhibition games or cup tournaments like I have been, it might be hard to notice. Give it a couple of weeks for a final option file to be ready and I will start up a proper Master League or BAL campaign and see how I go with Superstar.

As much as I like playing zero assistance, I wonder if the game runs more smoothly on the default 3 bars. Took the game to a mate's place the other night and just left it on default passing and assisted shooting and the games had a lovely flow to them. Sometimes on zero, it can feel like players aren't sure where they are running.

I might try 2-3 bar passing offline on Superstar and throw in the occassional manual pass. Although, last time I tried that I missed the freedom of 0 bar...damn this engine! lol

edit: actually I may have switched back to semi-assisted player switching recently. on 0 bar with assisted switching I may find the players are more responsive...?

I just won two games in my ML 1-0, but both goals left me with a hollow feeling. The games were great, incredible tackles and interceptions back and forth, but my victories were undeserved. In one goal, the whole of Papiss Cisse's shooting leg and part his upper body as well as the whole of the ball passed through the defenders body. Even during the speed of the game it looked unnatural and then in replay I was just so disappointed. I'm loving the game this year, but this is a cardinal rule especially inside the penalty area. At the very least, Cisse deserved a penalty because he would have been taken down in the act of shooting; that is the least Konami could offer. Better still, blocked shot. It was horrible.

The second goal was grotesque, with the ball ghosting through the defenders head to reach Tiote's head for a glance into the net. If their heads had at least been in proximity I could slightly understand. It's confusing out there. But Tiote's head was a good three or four feet from the defender's head. The ghosting of the ball and body parts is not a game breaker. I can't say that because I am loving the game overall. But it gives me an empty feeling. I'm almost afraid to watch replays anymore.

--Good day!

I think I know what you mean Calcio. Been tinkering a lot last few days and I've had to re-settle back on the default passing bars. As much as I loved zero assist it seemed the game was absolutely creaking as if the manual nature was distorting what the players should be doing. Even 2 bar felt a little strange. So it's three bar passing assist on Superstar for me now.

Still undecided on camera angles etc. Been playing pitchside +1 gamespeed and it seems fine but am always interested in changing things to get the best representation visually.

The problem when choosing variables like passing assistance and levels etc is that the blend is sometimes appalling especially with high pressure teams. Because of the non existent stamina system, especially in the short term, the CPU can feel like it's pressuring constantly. This then makes zero assistance passing really difficult in tight areas where reflexes are everything.

So what are you waiting for? Download our new DLC tomorrow

What are we waiting for? We're waiting for you to release it....

i been playing proff and though a good player back in the day been on fifa for years so kinda new again.

done some toruneys with

Santos
Atheltico minerio
Belgium
Arsenal
Celtic
Benfica

so far and tbh really struggled adn thats on pro!!!! wtf

I'm finding as others are - Superstar is more open and frankly easier to score than Prof. For me, Prof has been cpu playing deep sitting stodgy defence, with no space to get a decent cross or shot in.

However, for me, the referees have been much more balanced on prof. I can challenge a player and win the ball. On Superstar, the referee only referee one way - every challenge I make is blown for foul, and usually yellow card.

Yet every sliding tackle cpu makes, sliding right through my man, bringing him down in a heap, is never blown. Replays show that they actually made an implausibly perfect tackle, every time. To me, that's still a cheat - cpu becomes too perfect.

Like someone else said, these match stats always end with about 10 fouls by me, none by cpu. That's not balanced.

The thing with a really close camera like Medium, is that if you're playing assisted passing, you can at least rely on the radar since your pass should go within proximity of your "dot"/player. On 0 bars, the blind passing of a close in camera can be like Russian Roulette.

I had some success the other night with using the contain or jockey button and using the left stick to move closer to the player. I was able to nick the ball away from the opponent without running into them or without sticking my leg out. Felt like a good way of taking the ball away with a much reduced chance of giving away a foul.

Obviously, there are times when you want to stop the opponent at all costs and try a standing or sliding tackle, but this method has potential...

Using medium cam and 0 passing I depend a lot on the radar and spotting player runs from the corner of my eye. Got used to it now :D

Agree 100%
I dont watch replays anymore as you can see the flaws in every goal. From players morphing through other players. Players feet morphing through the ball. Keepers dives that look dreadful and they not even watching the ball.
I know where you are coming from mate.

You don't shoot. Just keep running.

Like I said look at the video tutorial first, and do exactly what it does. Every single thing.

My controller will not respond at all on the menu screen, i had a message saying the network is down for maintenance and pressing circle worked to get off that screen but the pad is unresponsive after that.

PS3 version by the way.

Ive done everything Im meant to (inc running without getting tackled) whether I have a shot or not and still fail.

I get a message say something like - cannot receive any information.

Then it goes straight through to the menus.

Deleting the install data messes up the dlc, can't load my cup data, i'll have to wait for the servers to come back online.

What are we waiting for? We're waiting for you to release it....

Exactly! Just release the damn thing already! It's been over a month since the transfer deadline was closed.

So anyone got a chance to download it?

Also, how long until the Option Files will be fully compatible with this new DLC data?

so...while we wait...this "Online Community Mode" I am worried that it won't let me and my pals play a round robin on the same console...

We have played round robins since the first ISS and this will be a very dark day for me if they don't let us play locally.

I don't have the game so can't say if this will work (or if it's another thing Konami have removed) but can't you set up a multiplayer Champ League or World Cup and place all user teams in the same group, thus creating a mini league for you and your friends to play? (Of course you are screwed if you have more than 3 friends coming over to play)

Downloaded the patch from XBL, but when I'm in the game PES keeps saying the online service is not available :((.

up-to-date transfers in the traditional lazy Konami style anyway :P

I always remember when Trabelsi ended up at Arsenal on PES 4

Does anyone know what the patch today has changed/added? Is it just the community mode thing?

Been waiting for the patch to pop up on PS3, no joy so far. Anyone?

As for what the patch will change/add, I'm going to look into my crystal ball for a second... Let me see... It's coming to me now....

The patch will add a host of little gameplay tweaks that aren't very obvious at first glance, and none of which you'll be able to put your finger on exactly, but all of which taken as a whole will add up to something much more organic and synergistic or whatever. Oh, and any new animation you see post-patch that you don't remember seeing pre-patch? DEFINITELY added by the patch.
