Can someone start a PES 2013 positivity thread and keep the complainers here? I got my game at lunchtime yesterday and had to wait until I got home from work and the gym to play it. Reading all about poor keepers and floaty shooting all afteroon had me fuming...

Until, I loaded up the game and played Rob in an online friendly. Liverpool v Everton. The new menu's look really nice. The night time lighting looks noticeably better than Demo 2, even if not looking outstanding. A lot less washed out than previously though.

The first thing I noticed were some new animations littered throughout the game. First touches and first touch errors that Konami doesn't spruik like EA Sports, because they've always been a part of the PES magic. Hit a shot that deflected off the defender and was creeping in - the keeper shuffled back quickly with some short steps that I've not seen before and tipped it over the bar. Another one where a powerful shot at Cech was swatted away with one arm!

Shooting is NOT floaty. I noticed floatier shots on demo 2 in my first few games until I re-learned the shooting mechanics. Only noticed 1 weak shot and it was contextually accurate as I tried to hit a first time shot with the wrong foot and wrap it around the body. But it was more a scuffed looking shot, and not a ball that floats in the air.

And you don't have to be 85 or above to hit rockets. Well guys like Rooney can smack the ball like jet fighters but the mid tier players can hit shots that look good too.

I played 4 games (15 min length) of these online friendlies and then a couple of offline Cup games and keepers made great saves and I didn't notice any parrying to strikers yet. But all round logic and animations don't look worse than the demo so I can't see why people are saying that?

Definitely a bit more knocking the ball around if you don't harass the AI in a full on pressure whore kinda way and playing vs the AI or a human, if you walk with the ball a bit more, your players will make more runs and take better shape. Patience is a virtue.

Noticed some real diversity with chipped balls and crosses too. Rob opened me up a couple of times through the middle of the penalty box with some intelligent movement and a killer pass on the ground or in the air.

So for the guys here who haven't opened the game or bought the game yet, gameplay is superb. Modes I haven't delved into yet but I'll be trying out MLO this weekend and starting up a BAL then ML in a couple of weeks once all the DLC packs are released.

p.s. with Player ID, check out Yaya Toure. It's like watching a real broadcast with the way he moves and tackles. BEAST!
 
I'm pretty sure from reading these comments, PC version is fucking way different then consoles... I don't see any new animations on pc, like I saw in demo

Although you didn't ask me, i would like to give you my feedback. :P

CPU buildup is fairly decent imo. Yes they could use some more back and lateral passing, but at least it's there to some degree instead of always going forward.
If it's closed up in MF - center of the pitch - you will see smarter/stronger teams play via the sides more often. More error in passing (as in easier to intercept or just bad passing) and also (way) less illogical/blind passing by CPU compared to demo 1/2, for ex. CPU playing from p2 side (right to left, my goal = left) right footed winger (or left footed even worse!) has ball on right side with his body towards the crowd, and passes towards incoming AMF cutting through the middle in the box. I hate those passes with a passion more so than any other AI cheating! That doesn't happen very often which is good!
Little things like that are more apparent now to me.

Mate, your team mates won't be passing you the ball easily at the start. You'll need to gain their trust first for them to pass it to you without calling for it, which will need some time. You can still press R2/RT to call for it though.

phew it still has that stupid cpu cheat, all i get is stupid rebound and own goals if i play well..

Yeah it takes a while before they give you the ball, or share jokes in the changeroom, or invite you to drinks lol.

When's your copy arrive Lami? Looking forward to that Juventus derby :P

Do you have auto clearances on? I have it on now so I don't have defenders sitting their working out whether to leave it for the keeper or move to the ball.

And my defenders seem to make more mistakes, for example the ball rolled in front of my defender and he refused to clear it even though i am pushing buttons so their attacker got it and scored.

All players run for passes an loose balls at the exact same speed so giving that pass extra juice means nothing

Its a shame Yairs gameplay patch for the pc has no editor and changes the look of the game (Uber contrast and dark).

Defensive AI seems to be alittle poor ive noticed, the ai play alot those annoying long balls, i have noticed alot of the time the cpu gets into a 1 on 1 situation because the marking is none exsistant.

Im lying how? It is what i got banned for, he didnt like the fact i told him what i though afterwards so dont try spreading it.
Thats what i wrote.

Keepers are tosh end of. All this talk from konami that they are good, i though they were better in demo 1 than the full game.

Cant wait until this time next year. hopefully i have my hands on a decent pes, with good keepers finally instead of the clowns we have had to put up with all this gen.

People have done nothing but complained about league mode not being in. Have I stopped them from speaking up? Hell, I'm the guy who spoke about ML!

So what if we have complained about master league and league mode not in, so konami deserve a medal and no more complaints now.

im not talking about the clearences but about the fact if the cpu decides u loose, u r gonna loose even if u r better then him, try a competition mate, still that annoying cheating bastard is there! try with any team, even with barca, u r gonna feel it , even a Schalke will simply kill u if the cpu wants to

there will come the super through passes from him and the super headers, super shots, everything will be superb no matter who is the opponent...and ofcourse you cant do anything to score ;)

this is the 3rd time i try to beat that almighty Montpellier with the gunners to advance but seems to impossible


eg.: my players just staring at the loose ball...oh good old cpu support


EDIT: i did it...with 1 goal, with a boring defending, passing barca-spain style match...

For all those complaining about keepers I strongly disagree. What I do see after playing over 50 games is you see personality. You notice there strengths and weaknesses. I play it on the ps3. This years game is extremely deep.

I have hit a rocket with Clichy who has kicking power rated at 67, I know this because I checked the stat after the shot because I was surprised at how powerful the strike was.

IRL there are certain times where players can just catch the ball with perfect timing/positioning and it can fly in, unmatched to their usual shooting power/accuracy remember Nigel Winterburns goal at Chelsea? I bet he could try that 9 times out of 10 and not catch it like that lol.

If you tried it all the time and it was like that it'd be suspect, but 67 kicking power should feel like 67 most of the time.

The other thing I find with PES, is that it really forces you to get the ball to the right player for the right situation. Granted, there shouldn't be a massive difference between all players - but from what I've seen, even the mid-tiered players can hit the ball very well and non-floaty.
