PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Yep sad times, stops me from popping in as much as I used to.

Seems the majority are a petulant demanding bunch, mind when we got games on a cart and you couldnt play a demo and you played a game for a year and enjoyed it??

Shambles no wonder developers become bemused with it all.

+1..being from the emlyn hughes soccer, micropose soccer days, even as far back at match day on the spectrum it makes me laugh what people demand and expect

I agree that quite a lot people act like spoiled childeren. IMO some of the reactions to the RPG-elements in ML where over the top. One has to try it out before judging it.
I personally would not understand the fact that the league mode got removed (if it really is removed, but it seems like that). I played that mode with both my kids. I have a 9 year old and a 12 year old who can't be bothered with the management element of ML and who just want to play competition and European matches. We will have both PES and FIFA and if there is no league, then my kids will only play FIFA.
I know most single players did play ML and i would agree with the decision if ML was more customizable (i.e. you could play a ML light which is only about the matches and a very simple version of the transfers).

Like i already said Konami made two major mistakes in their marketing and PR (and subsequent in development):

1. they listened too much to fan feedback about gameplay. Let that to the programmers.
2 their games are not enough customizable. This is is something EA has understood very well. Most of the big Konami fans (who don't like EA Sports) delude themselves by thinking that more people buy FIFA because of the licenses. That is only a part of the story (and a smaller part than most people think). The difference between PES and FIFA is that FIFA is easy to pick up and very cutomizable. Good editions of PES are also easy to pick up (and hard to master, for example 2011 and bot demo's), but they are hardly customizable.

Now it might well be that all this havoc about the missing league mode is only a rumour and that the league mode is in there somewhere or will be in as DLC, but why Konami do not communicate about this, i don't understand. I don't think that asking (friendly and polite) to communicate about this, is acting like a spoilt child. I posted 3 times a question on PES facebook page. Three times very polite, they removed the question 3 times...that is not a way to treat customers (and i don't think i'm the only one). I've bought PES since it was called ISS (since the second one) and have bought it for PS, Xbox and PSP (sometimes even buying it 3 times), i have never complained or asked a question. I think i deserve an answer...maybe not personal, but some kind of communication...and i don't think i'm the only one.

The difference being, back then, programmers did all they could to bring you FUN times. They actually polished their code so it didn't have game breaking moments, mechanics.

Nowadays, all revolves around money. They can make bug ridden game and people will still buy it. Because of the name alone (see FIFA last year for example).

The devs attitude changed dramatically. You know that gamers back then were easy to please. Though when they started moving with time they became more demanding and rightly so.

It's pathetic that some people here try to advocate for EA and KONAMI. Seriously now, they are definitely more capable than what they are offering. Nothing happens though, because players allow them to produce shit each year and they still make huge profit of it.

KONAMI started to ruin their own game by listening to Japanese community, where PES sales rise each year. Unfortunately for us, this means shitty years ahead. Japanese people want different things from us. They think different, they want J-RPG elements in ML. Be it, but why force it on us Europeans/North and South America guys?! Let them have it in Winning Eleven!

Don't ruin European approach to the game which is more conservative. We want realism first and foremost and not some stupid RPG elements in ML O_O.

Now they take away even standalone Leagues. Give me a break.

This was one of the things I looked forward to, because ML looks like child made this year. I would learn to live without transfers (boo :().

Heh. Call us whiners or something, but we pay money and have right to demand what it's worth.

You want to lose your money? Fine, but why should everyone accept such approach?

Well I liked those. It's the perceived realism off the pitch that has ruined PES for me and most of that is attributed to the changes to ML over the years. They don't have enough licenses to persist with what they've been doing for the past couple of years and make it feel enjoyable. It's like trying to build a shed when you've only got 8 planks of wood. It just feels bare. At least the old ML style felt fun with its fantasy league type approach and it didn't matter that there were only 4 leagues when I could mix them up.

The RPG elements were what made the game enjoyable and long-lasting. Realistic? No. That's not what everybody is looking for. For what it's worth I'm certain PES' demise (at least from a popularity perspective) is down to their obsession with realism off the pitch. The game seems to fear being its own unique product as it once was. Before PES felt unique in comparison to Fifa in its approach to career mode (ML) and offered gamers a genuine alternative in several different areas. Now it feels like a more basic copy that offers nothing of its own that I can't get elsewhere but much, much more polished.

Also I'm sure leagues are probably still in there.

Really hope this league stuff can be sorted. Just played 3 games each of FIFA and pes demos and both are enjoyable.

FIFA has the better keepers but pes has better stadiums and suits the way I play the game better. But if I'm forced to play exhibition matches cos the leagues have been taken out and the ML has boot gate I may have to go with FIFA.

On the WENB-forum someone suggested an easy fix (by modders) for the ML-magic-boot-gate on PC: Simply to set all stat-increases for all the stuff to zero and then it is merely cosmetic as it should be.

The only downside that would then still remain is that at the beginning all players would have black boots.

yair? Is that really you? I thought using computers during sabbath isn't allowed due to the electricity?

yes it's me , I stopped to observe the Sabbath

from wikipedia-

Shomer ShabbatMain article: Shomer Shabbat
The term shomer Shabbat is used for a person (or organization) who adheres to Shabbat laws consistently. The shomer Shabbat is an archetype mentioned in Jewish songs (e.g., Baruch El Elyon) and the intended audience for various treatises on Jewish law and practice for Shabbat (e.g., Shemirat Shabbat ke-Hilkhata).

I would actually buy this game if not every single player in ML having black boots, that completely kills pes for me, theres no reason buying it when ML is screwed up because its my most played mode.

Anyone noticed "Only Me" option for Market activity level around 0:30? High/Normal/Low/Only Me to choose

Then if its true, we have the answer to the league mode missing. Setting off the grouth of players and setting the transfers to "Only Me" will truly make ML look like nornal league mode, apart from them boot madness

and apart from training, and from "oh you player is pissed because he didn't play. he want to talk to you" and apart from "oh, the next match is a big one, please no cards! messages and what else is part of the ML.

It is not the same like a league mode where you can pick up a team and quickly play match after match. And is there a way to play ML with your friends like you can do in league mode?

Bit off topic.

I played PES2011 today at my parents place on my brothers PS3 and must admit its not as good as 2012 sure the tactical settings in terms of time is cool but the passing is default assisted and too much ping pong football in place. Shooting is also too easy. Player switching is pretty bad as well. Funny how I thought it was better than PES2012 overall. It appears there are areas that its pretty poor.
