PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Whatever it is, whether the league will be a DC or not, this is fucked up PR by Konami. They have said absolutely nothing regarding game modes. You cannot expect to sell well a product if your communication is amateurish

States on official site that spanish, french and dutch leagues are in!

They've had the release early so I'm pretty sure leagues will be added through DLC. September the 21st we thought was early but getting it a week before that in Israel well I'm sure Konami are trying to please fans by getting the game out as early as possible but in doing so certain things have not been ready.

Like stated in the quote Leagues are definitely in so lets not brew up another storm over nothing.

What hacks me off the most is it isn't even the typical, bumbling, incompetent but ultimately well-meaning Konami move. It's more cynically strategised with zero consideration to the consumer wants, trying to slip it under the radaer with minimal fuss. Deleting politely directed questions off their facebook is just snide.

As I said before, I don't even use this League mode, but feel more uneasy giving money to a company that seems so out of sync with it's community. None of us wanted this so fuck 'em if they think they can milk commercial sponsorship without disgruntling the core fans. After all, it's only the blind loyalty of it's fanbase that propped them up during those three unacceptably poor games after PES 6.

I found this very funny: "It's almost as good as watching the UEFA Champions League for real!" :CURSE:

To watch 2 CPU controlled teams? WTF?

English league might not be in, only offical leagues it seems so far.

Played a game with Juventus against Bilbao, and the CPU sends in a through ball to Llorente. I take control of Chiellini and I we are side by side. I start pushing Chiellini's body onto Llorentes, and muscle him out of the play, so that I can proceed to clear the ball and the danger. Next game I stick with Juventus, but this time I go up against Barcelona. Similar situation comes up, but this time it is Chiellini vs Messi. I have the position so I decide to outmuscle Messi. The body to body contact initiates, and for some reason the stats fly out the window and Messi out muscles Chiellini and proceeds to score. Turned the system off. I like this demo more than FIFA's, but that just p'd me off too much.

ouch
and there wasnt clipping or some bug, u sure?
if this happens on a regular basis write it again here pls
thx

That for me is the most interesting twist of the last few weeks. The ML boots stuff, I can see a market for that - the market that loves Ultimate Team in FIFA for example, kids mostly (and kids are a very lucrative market, kill two birds with one stone by making a simulation but adding silly optional features to it). A mode being removed I could see coming (this is Konami we're talking about, I'd forgotten half the stuff that's been removed down the years).

But this is just... I really didn't see that coming.

I actually really like the gameplay in demo 2 (teammate AI particularly), and I'll probably buy it for the Master League Online (which for me beats FIFA's online modes), but... Who the hell comes up with these ideas for killer new features, and how do they get through?

"Nobody plays leagues, let's take that out."

"But sir, that leaves a space on the menu screen!"

"Don't worry kiddo. One step ahead of you. Get this. Matches that PLAY THEMSELVES. So, there's no football on TV tonight? Boring old Friday? WRONG. Stick Pro Evo on. Feeling too lazy to play it tonight? WATCH IT."

It's just really sad to see a game that was part of my youth and something I had, and still have, a real passion for, slowly destroyed by the guys who put it together themselves. The competition got better, but now they're getting slightly too confident (I think) and Konami, at the same time, become even more ignorant about what their own - incredibly faithful and forgiving - fanbase wants, or even thinks.

This isn't the way to keep your game selling. At a time when the other game is selling more, money is tight, and studios are closing all over the place. They have to start to rebuild now surely. Could there be a day when Pro Evo gets cancelled? If so, squeaky bum time.

So now, how am I supposed to build a custom league (Konami League) to play with my friends at home? :CONFUSE:
We play one every week sacredly.

There is too much blind loyalty amongst the PES fanbase, that's the problem. People feel as if they owe it to Konami to buy the game every year, to show them support, to prop them up financially against evil EA.

Konami are a global brand with very healthy finances. We owe them nothing.

The reality - as we've seen over the last couple of weeks - is that Konami doesn't give a fuck about us. They feign interest by asking for our feedback which they largely ignore and then make changes to the game nobody asked for. Then they ignore/delete community questions.

It's a terrible way to treat a fanbase that has stayed loyal through a long and terrible run of sub-standard, dated games that people with more sense left well alone years ago.

I for one won't be giving Konami my money until further clarification. If others did the same they might listen. Sadly most people take the view that 'bootgate' or 'leaguegate' don't affect me so why should I care? Totally the wrong attitude.

Why are people making fuss about this? You could watch CPU matches since forever on PES games. It was there last year and year before and you know what? In PES6 and prior too! ;)

Removing Leagues is pathetic. I won't blame it on anyone. Adam wasn't at fault with posting that ML rubbish. At least we knew what KONAMI has in store for us.

Really a shame, because gameplay is killer for me. They messed up other things though and that's inexcusable. :/

FIFA may not have superb gameplay yet, but they do care about their fanbase. They actually polished up their career mode to extreme levels. Made Online modes more varied and balanced over the years (adding option to sort by manual players only).

Seriously, KONAMI shoots themselves in both feet each year. Letting FIFA take even more than they deserve. It's not gameplay alone that ruins PES. It's the approach of KONAMI to their fanbase...

And if Japanese people have the say in how PES is shaping over last few years, I would start to pray if I were you... :/ (I even doubt that UK studio would do much of a change here!!).

God. It's so crazy, so absurd and so sad. This year they come with the best gameplay ever on PS3 and ruin it with so much stupid decisions.

Well, it may not be realistic that Messi outmuscles Chiellini but I've seen Messi against stronger and bigger defenders and despite his clearly physical disadvantage he doesn't let them push him off the ball. He somehow bounces off their body and keeps control of the ball, really awesome stuff.

In game Konami doesn't have yet the physical engine to represent this realistically but they want that Messi prevails like he does in real life and so we get unrealistically looking scenes.

I play Ultimate Team, and the ML boot stuff doesn't interest me one bit. I loved the "Old" ML.

Surprisingly, alot of people WILL like this. I know for a fact in wrestling games, alot of people simulate matches with all wrestlers being controlled by the CPU. And I for one, will like this.

Did you watch cpu vs cpu in PES 2012? I did it once. It was boring like hell mate. Really. Boring beyond believe because both cpu teams played like shit. It was terrible.

Hang on so because konami took out features or modes that I do not play much I should boycott them for the sake of the fans?
I am happy with game itself and I need a football gaming fix online so I am willing to shell out the moola for it till the day that they buggered up my bit.

Its not blind faith its my needs fulfilled. If fifa can get their game to play the way I want it to I wont bother with PES I dont think that anyone goes out to buy a game for the sake of the developers.
