PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (WAREZ TALK WILL BE PUNISHED WITH A BAN)

Oh the drama, yet again.

Release day patches are common practice, Konami is no exception to that. There are several benefits for publishers to do that - besides ironing-out issues noticed after game has gone gold (for dvd printing, etc.), it's also pretty basic protection against zero-day leaks being fully effective - using possibly leaked retail version 1.00 you can't go online, maybe you do not have access to certain modes, etc. Release day patch (shall we call it 1.01?) can sort this out easily - apply it and your copy becomes compatible with online services, new modes may become available (or simply unhidden), etc.

Last year we had 1.01 release day patch for PES 2012 (primarily to enable online modes, unlucky bonus was that they screwed gameplay too compared to 1.00). Later during the year WE 2012 got completely new main menu item with completely new league mode (J-League) using patch/DLC combo. PES version also got similar update with last patch and DLC (Copa Libertadores 2012 - new menu item, new mode).

Bottom line - it can be and most likely will be fixed on release day.

Let's hope so! But the idea of making leaked versions worth less doesn't work for long. Usually within a few days the update is applied to the non-legit-versions as well.

And it's certainly not worth offending/disturbing a majority of fans. Besides, what about the gamers without an internet-connection?

This. The voice of reason.

Now can we all start focusing back on our new magical 'Jimmy Grimble' boots please .....

It's not exactly drama is it? One of the most important modes missing from the game?

I very much doubt Konami forgot to add league mode and will patch it back in. Remember, PES2013 is essentially last year's game with a few minor changes. They would have no need to remove any modes at all.

True. Feel sorry for fans of the game and those modes who aren't connected to the web though. Konami really are a bunch of clowns.

Konami learned many security lessons the hard way - from their own experiences. All I'm saying is that they may be more cautious this time and that they may have hidden certain contents in 1.00 version, simply to be revealed when they want too. On a proper release day.

Isn't all this panic mostly generated by leaked (genuine, legal, but still prematurely released) retail version? Somehow I doubt that Israeli game shops got Konami's blessing to start selling early. We were not supposed to see retail version until official release date. But retailers are always the weakest link in security chain - there are always going to be retailers that do not play by the book and game leaks before it's supposed to. Big surprise - PES 2013 leaked early too. Maybe Konami simply anticipated this and deliberately crippled zero-day version, to protect themselves from certain aspects of abuse.

I doubt they are that clever :/

btw, what does Jon Murphy actually do? apart from "erm" and "um" through presentations and interviews...

Agree.
I was gutted that Konami seem to have totaly fucked the ML up this year but at the same time thought Id just play a Spanish league instead. But now it looks like that wont happen.

I cant see whats going on here - why would Konami go to the trouble of getting the licences for La Liga and then only let you use them in the ML where you can have a totaly different team and teams from other countries in your league after the first year? If anything it should be the other way round and you shouldnt be allowed to use a La Liga team in ML due to licenses.

This is typical konami - they win us back with a great game(play) after years of shit but then risk losing fans cos the ML is fucked and now you cant play a La Liga league.

The mind boggles at Konami sometimes it really does.

Lets hope the La Liga can be played as part of the DLC released on day 1.

I recall yair saying that next week is a holiday in Israel (where such things are taken very seriously and everywhere is closed), so Konami allowed the game to be released a week early there.

Regarding the supposed deliberate crippling of the game pending day 1 patches/unlocks etc.... they would only do such a thing if universal Internet access is guaranteed. There are still plenty of people without reliable Internet access, or indeed with no access at all.

Sadly, yes. One thing I've learned with Konami is that these things rarely turn out as we hope. If league mode is gone now, that's likely to remain the case until at least PES2014.

The cynic in me feels this was a deliberate move to force people to play ML after the backlash against 'bootgate'. Many people said they would give it a miss and stick to league mode. That wouldn't please the boot manufacturers that Konami have signed deals with to heavily advertise their products.

That's probably not the case but I'm struggling to justify why League mode would have been removed otherwise.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (WAREZ TALK WILL BE PUNISHED WITH A BAN)

Too many people offer up excuses for KONAMI when it comes to extremely poor game development - first with the introduction of this ridiculous 'magical boot' ML decision and now removing leagues. I never ever play online but if I found out KONAMI had removed an important element of the game for the online community I would be dissapointed for those who miss out. Surely when they remove any aspect of the game it should be a concern for all of us.

That's the main point why i don't believe they will unlock leagues online with a 1 day patch. It would be a really big kick in the ass for all the people without Internet access.

I don't get it. For me the only logical reason is to force players to play the new (sponsored) ML. That would be a shame, really.

But right now i still hope that this is just some kind of mistake.

Unfortunately i'm with you here.

True, but unfortunately companies do not really care much about that these days. Crippled/partially locked dvd releases are common practice these days when it comes to PC gaming. Piracy rates and all that :/

Hah, resident hardcore cynic within me would agree with you 100%, but at this point I'd rather not resort to such depths of cynicism ... yet :)
After all, we all hope that this is either unlucky mistake or deliberate zero-day crippling. There is really no excuse to ditch league mode completely.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (WAREZ TALK WILL BE PUNISHED WITH A BAN)

I bet it's in there somewhere, possibly under Competition>Cup>Euro>La Liga/Serie A/etc. (i.e. the league trophies being conceived of as Cup Competitions – just another quirky Japanese thing).
Nope, not the case. Euro means the European Championship (Euro 2012). It has always been like that, it's very unlikely for the league mode to be in there.

If that's the case (a very senseless one), they STILL can't do it right! FFS, they've got only about 10 licensed boots in the game! And speaking from experience here, if you wanna have proper boots assigned to most players, you should have at least 50 licensed boots (Nike, Adidas, Puma, Umbro, Mizuno, Under Armour, etc. WITH AT LEAST 3 OF THEIR LATEST COLOURWAYS!).

Bugger!

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (WAREZ TALK WILL BE PUNISHED WITH A BAN)

By the way, Adam confirmed that league mode is missing from his copy too. Didn't seem too optimistic about it, and confused as the rest of us.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (WAREZ TALK WILL BE PUNISHED WITH A BAN)

And again everyone jumps the boat too quickly. We don't have official confirmation of this yet. At least wait a bit before shooting them down.

I need official confirmation before my pre-order ships next Tuesday or Wednesday.

I want to know what I'm buying.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (WAREZ TALK WILL BE PUNISHED WITH A BAN)

Exactly, you can't sell something prior to removing key features that have been pillars of the game for the last 10 years without letting anyone now.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (WAREZ TALK WILL BE PUNISHED WITH A BAN)

Thought the boots thing in ML would be a deal breaker for me, to be honest after the first game I have kind of forgotten about it, more concerned about my losing 5 in 6 games. :(

Not going to equip any boots I do acquire either.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (WAREZ TALK WILL BE PUNISHED WITH A BAN)

Where the hell did the release day patch for this come from? Konami haven't even acknowledged it

I get the feeling that you'll be able to play the community mode offline as well under "Online Community", since they seem to have gone with the half-offline half-online approach this year.

No clue about League mode. Maybe it's also under Community mode?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (WAREZ TALK WILL BE PUNISHED WITH A BAN)

I think im reading that Adam has stepped down.

Also if you buy a 2nd hand copy of the demo Adam says this

Looks like PES 2013 has an online pass system, which many games companies have incorporated recently.

So, buy it pre-owned, then a small cost is needed to go online. Interesting.

Konami don't communicate though, and when they do most of the channels are fed misinformation anyway (for instance 10 min. demo games).

I have no loyalty to Konami, so if they've made some shoddy feature decisions that the community aren't happy about, they should be called out on it. If it's not true, they could easily rectify it. But if anything, their silence speaks volumes.

For whats its worth i don't even play the league mode.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (WAREZ TALK WILL BE PUNISHED WITH A BAN)

Is it me or is it just plain weird that Konami have not released any or very little info about game modes. I mean the release is only a week away and nothing. Their is still even an embargo on what people with the review code can talk about. Most things that we know are from 3rd party sources not Konami which is strange for a company that says it wants to keep in touch with its fans. The boot thing come out and causes major annoyances with most fans with threat of them not buying the game, yet no one from Konami tries to defuse the situation. The 2nd PC demo still not out a week before release date due to technical issues, very strange. The supposed stadium DLC is from what I gather not actually a DLC on the PC anyways, but is already contained on the disk.

Konami are either worried about something or maybe have a gem up their sleeves. With my experiences with Konami (maybe criticizing Konami in not fair maybe its just the team in charge of PES as I have nothing but praise for Metal Gear) its probably back to their old ways of screwing up. Anyone remember the PES when even a game between UTD and Arsenal in the master league had no chants or crowd just sounded like playing on the training ground or the one on the PS2 with screen tearing for every corner or the one with no supporters on the chairs in certain camera views but they solved it in the next years game by by drawing the supporters onto the seats

Exactly, their atittude has been absolutely disgraceful this year. The stuff you know about Master League and now the missing modes is because the community made an effort to figure it out...

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread (WAREZ TALK WILL BE PUNISHED WITH A BAN)

im not one to overeact but it does seem that Konami have totally messed up and want us to play the ML which from here looks utter poo.

Might just have to download that Fifa demo again..........
