PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I can't remember if it was in PES 2012 or in PES 2011 but there was a card for defenders which meant they played offside traps better. Was it Enforcer?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

P.S. What do people think of player cards in comparison to the ML boots (even though we haven't had a chance to use them yet)? As well as having some animations tied to them and adding individuality in a way, don't these player cards act to also provide a stat boost?

Whilst I don't like the sounds of how the Master League is being approached, I still like to think that once you're out on the park, playing games and trying to get promoted and win titles etc, the boots might be the last thing on your mind.

Or maybe now when you miss a 1 v 1 chance, instead of blaming scripting, you can say "He didn't have his shooting boots on :P "

This was in PES 2011 and as far back as PES 5, maybe even before, can't remember much before PES 5. It was called D-line control, later changed to DF-leader. In 2012 they decided to take a layer of individuality away from defenders and keepers and removed all cards/special traits for these positions. Typical strange Konami thinking with no explanation given.

Enforcer is for aggressive DMs.

I wouldn't say they are the same thing. A lot of the cards are traits, so don't give a boost but just govern how often a player does something. Cards make the player play more like his real self, boots can make a slow player faster. Cards are given to players because they have those traits/skills in real life, boots will be given randomly so Ronaldo wearing Umbro etc. New boots will be "awarded" at certain times, this has never been the case with cards, which required lengthy training and money to acquire. Boots can be switched between players, imagine how silly it would be if you could switch cards between players.

Badgerman? Last time he was here, I remember him not being too happy with PES2012...

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Good points ollywolly - coupled with form arrows, its no wonder PES can give people inconsistent gaming experiences. You could try the same shot with the same player in 3 consecutive games and get totally different outcomes lol. In a way that's great...but sometimes I wish the peaks and troughs weren't set so far apart. Do we really need 5 form arrows - why not 2 or 3?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Is demo2 so similar to pes12 in terms of players/ball weight as someone here said??
I'm scared from that as I couldn't try demo2 yet.
Demo1 is perfect in terms of physics IMO.

Please give me some feedback...

Brace yourself for a year of things like this: 'I was playing in my Master League against [TEAM NAME], when [PLAYER NAME] danced through my entire defence like he was Maradona on speed. So I went and checked and he was wearing a pair of the magic boots. This is exactly what I said back in September. All you lot who said Master League wouldn't be ruined by magic boots, I have the proof! This is happening all the time! Magic boots made a CPU player go on a mazy super-dribble against me! That has never happened before in PES, ever!'

In my experience in demo 1 (pc) pes 2013, i do think that the kind of messi, ronaldo is not that horribly fast dancer fest like it was in 2012. Yes, they can turn quickly here and there but unlike 2012.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

question; this boot catastrophe, is it an option that could be switch off or something? , i can imagine if you start out with a ml standard team, you`d like this option solely for your own team not for all the teams. would made more sense.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I don't want to buy the retail version and find out that it's cack ala last year, BUT I want a tin...

It's still unclear to me whether the cards directly boosted stats or not. But I think the biggest difference is that the cards are inherent to the player.
If Scott Parker or Javier Mascherano have an "Enforcer" card is because they really are IRL. Or the "Outside of foot shot" with the likes of Xabi Alonso, and so forth.

Some will point out that we could pay ML money to give a player a special training to get a "card" (which I never did). But still, after you purchase a card, it's an investment you do on a player and it stays with him forever.
Whereas with boots that boost +5 in certain stats, you can change them among your players every match. It's like any player will be able to have their "15 minutes of fame". I can decide that Castolo will wear Messi's boots just for one day. Pathetic.

As Keith Houchen said, you will be reading a lot of complaining about the CPU's use of magic boots (as if cheating scripts wasn't enough).

I'm having nightmares

demo 2 is very similar to demo 1 talking about inertia
there is not a noticeable difference
besides it's absolutely nowhere near how it was in pes 2012 where you could dribble like Messi with every player

Tks a lot!
Can't wait for hammering the retail version

If I'm not mistaken, Super Sub card is stats booster, but conditional - if you make late substitution with player having this card, he gains some % across the stats.
Don't know about the others, perhaps Pinpoint Pass gives certain boost to long passing stats? Etc.

But yeah, cards are inherent to the player, we couldn't simply take them away from one player and give them to another. Unlike this boot thing ...

I tried both demos side by side under the same circumstances and imho in demo 2 the players are less weighty, have less inertia and players feel more alike to each other than in demo 1, and the ball rolls quicker and allows for more ping-pong-passing (playing on zero bar).

Personally I don't like these changes as it makes the game feel more like PES 2012. But others are more than happy so...

I was in fact referring to your impressions.
I'm worried for what u say, anyway a lot of Other people don't feel as you, hopefully these are little changes which are matter of personal perceptions.
I hope so.
Most important is to be far away from pes12 IMO.
Tks for your feedback

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

one point to take in consideration, the ball when the gk boxes it away it just looks like a balloon, no weight in the shot especially the torpedo shots (likes of ronaldo and such). thats a point of bettering.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Personally I don't like the weight of the ball in 2013. It doesn't feel right.
