PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

At least the DLCs will be useful for something, every year they released lots of boots and for me had no use at all since i never played BAL.

Really not bothered about the boots inclusion in ML, i believe it can also make the game more interesting when playing with default players.

Also, as we know, Konami focus was never on total realism, even Seabass used to say that they were more worried about making a game fun to play than the most realistic football experience ever.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Yes the opposition wears black boots and yes they unlock them too.

Thanks James. I have no idea why that would happen since they're not under our control. It's like saying they start a season unfit and then need to unlock specific training as well. Bizarre!

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Well after playing PES13 for hours I will actually say its DECENT but not the best ever. Far away from best ever.

Had some online Winning Eleven 9 Liveware Evolution and that game my friends is the best football game ever made and probably will be the best footie game ever made of all times forever.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Depends on the individual's stance on 'bootgate'. If you like authenticity, i.e. players wearing their correct boots, then this is bad news. If you are a purist and don't agree with stat boosting, more bad news. If you dislike both of these things, then ML could well be destroyed for you.

It's a big enough issue for some people that they can't ignore it. Others don't care so much. Whether it destroys ML or not is down to your personal outlook on football games.

I'm quite hardcore when it comes to ML. I was disappointed when I read about the boots. I don't want it in the next one. But I don't exaggerate. I'd take the game as it's still pretty much playable as gameplay is what counts for me. If I don't want the boots I won't use them. Or maybe I would for the fun of it, who knows, but it doesn't mean I like the idea.

I dislike both but ML is in no way "destroyed" for me. ML is much more than just boots. I'll put up with it for the better things in it. It would take far, far worse things than just boots to "destroy" my beloved ML. It's still no where near where I would like it to be btw. I've put up with it when it was in a more fantasy state than this in the old PS days for the greater gameplay. That is what gave me true satisfaction first. So surely mere boots won't destroy it for me.

What is frustrating is the context. What FIFA is doing is so good, but I wish it had PES' gameplay. It's disappointing and the context sure ruins ML for me. Konami have dropped the ball, not because of the boots, but because they opted for fantasy instead of realism.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Fanolato - that's the really hard part. Getting annoyed with ML this year but then buying FIFA will probably just get me frustrated after a few games as the gameplay can bore me quickly.

I'll have to stick to my guns and still get PES. Although, I may get it on PC, depending on how much I'll need to spend upgrading my video card.

I'd love that too, but it's not happening this year. So I won't make a huge fuss out of it and be content this year with the good gameplay plus other modes. All we can currently do is wait and see for ourselves how this "new" ML works. If it's bad then we can surely have a poll then forward that to Jon Murphy. If all the communities do this then surely it's a sign that most of the fans didn't welcome it. Therefore make them think twice for the next version.

Yup... if one resists to buy just because afraid of this boot-gate.. just wait for Lami's review, so you don't have to buy and try.. right lami ? :P

Anyway.. about the black colour.. i think it is not that hard for Konami to release DLC (if needed) so that default start of a season will be full of colourful boots.. :P

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Hah! No thanks :P

My opinion is just one of millions. And I just don't like exaggerating and know where my priorities are :)

This about a million times more.
I'm a purist and playing on the PC with all the patches, I try to make the ML as realistic as possible (kits and BOOTS included) before starting it.
This concept of seeing everyone with black boots feels wrong to me.Up until now, it hasn't been explained why was this feature added.
I mean if you add something new, it's to answer a certain need but what would that be with this incredibly stupid idea ?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Well if it was for marketing reasons I highly doubt they'll ever mention it ;)

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

The main boot complaints I'm seeing are:
- it will look bad seeing everyone in black boots at the beginning
- stat boosts

I can live with the first one, it has no effect on gameplay. Don't like the 2nd one.

But what I haven't seen mentioned much, and what I think will annoy me the most, is that boots will become integral to your match strategy and you'll have to fiddle with them before every game.

Am I right in thinking boots are not tied to a player? So you can remove someone's boots and give them to another player whenever you want? If that is the case, then things will just get stupidly unrealistic.
You'll be swapping boots when players get injured or rested, you'll be swapping boots to exploit an opposition weakness, you'll be swapping boots to counter an opponent's boot...no no no, I want nothing to do with any of that.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Does that mean the cutscenes of players complaining will also extend to "Van Persie borrowed my boots and won't return them?".

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I guess or hope the boots can be ignored but I now think NOKAMI really did intend them to add an extra strategy layer to the game. Look at the screenshot below from the game-modes video.

Boots-strategy.jpg

When I first saw that I was intrigued by what "more options to win a match" meant and hoped "more strategical club management" meant a big overhaul somewhere. Well, excitement over, now I'm pretty sure it's just referring to boots and items.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

This year, I decided to play other games.
There are many factors that I lost my desire to play.
the topic of boots, has ruled the game.
defense completely stupid (again)
player change, almost at random

All my life I played PES, my true love has always been "winning eleven 3 final evolution" and the fantastic "Winning Eleven 2002"

I have endured mediocre games (2008-2009)
Seabass had promised, "Pes 2013 is totally different" LIAR
freedom of play that has always represented this legend? DISSAPEAR

Not to sound pessimistic, pes2013 game is "acceptable", full of errors, as were 2011-12 .. happen this year and as usual, all of us here discussing, criticizing, and find solutions with the help of patches to fix problems in gameplay, or we could be enjoying an incredible game.
IA, boots, stadium code, defense, GK. are so many things that this graphics engine has no solution, just waiting 2014 again.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

2008 wasnt mediocre in gameplay it was the exact same as pes 6. only faster with terrible animation (Unless you play on the PS3)

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

This will help some people understand! But for me, there are still that "ugly" boots in ML that lacks authenticity! It's minor so i hope to get it out my head asap. What we all would have been like when there have been no information by Adam?! I bet: more calm!

Edit: got an email that night at 2 am from amazon germany saying:
"dear customer,

PES 13 - Pro Evolution Soccer (yeah they named it exactly that) will be released September 20th 2012 for PS3, XBOX 360 and PC. Preorder now!"

I translated that from german...

So was the release date confirmed yet? Don't think so! So what do we make of that?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Been away a few days so missed the furore re Adam.

First off, I'm not his biggest fan, never have been. But I am also not the type of person to kick a man when he's down.

I think Konami's treatment of him has been disgraceful. For once he had the balls to put his head above the parapet and highlight some major flaws with this ML notion of boots and super-powers. His work for Konami especially within WENB (again your views on this site are neither here not there), has been nothing short of brilliant.

His enthusiasm in trying to sell sand to the Arabs is unquestionable and during this particular saga, Adam has gone up, way up in my estimation. It's a real shame that Konami can't see the wood for the tress. They are in real danger of isolating an entire generation this year after what was seen as progress in demo 1.

I'm starting to come to the conclusion that Konami simply don't deserve my money anymore, and that's saying something from a PES die hard who never even touched the FIFA 'high point' era.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Konami are doing well recently.
Gamescom - no new info, terrible interview videos, getting drunk
Saying Demo 2 would be 10 minutes
Delaying PC Demo
Not giving a release date
Boots
John Murphy Twitter silence

Is this a company I should keep supporting?

You're right, it isn't mediocre. Been playing it since yesterday and surprisingly I'm ok with it. I'm enjoying it especially the shooting, the low hard shots to be exact. Pitches look better on it too imo. I'm ok with the animations as it's not really different much from the PS2 ones. One main thing I dislike is changing sides with a long pass, they're too quick. Love the ball weight though.

Think I'll keep playing this till 2013 is out.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I downloaded PES 2011 demo the other night. Just to bring up some good ol memories. It definitely has fun factor. And the pitches at night are green whilst the nets are white!! If only that was the case now. Shots were rockets too but there was a satisfying feeling to smacking the ball for some reason.

But visually, AI wise, animations wise, overall balance wise, PES 2013 is miles ahead. Fingers crossed there's still a lot of fun to be had out of this years game.

I might do something different and start off with BAL mode first. Always nice to play in various leagues :)

Better Set piece settings. (Can remove free-kick wall)
Better player switching
Sane Manual GK control
Best representation of CM and DM in any pes game ever.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Why there is no control over the goalkeepers? Where is goalkeeper cursor in the settings. I remember in Ps2 days or PSP pes 2012 I could easy control keepers by holding triangle and moving the stick. Now, moving the stick doesn't work. When you hold triangle keepers run towards the ball like idiots. KONAMI GIVE ME KEEPER CURSOR ON in the game just like in PS2 games.

Actually, you can control the keeper. Just press "whatever button you've configured to cursor change" plus R3 and... voilá! Remember you have to do it again to uncontrol keeper.

What I do miss is proper button config when you're in control of the keeper, like: :circle: to clear the ball, :square: to (try to) catch it, etc.

All that is true as well. Poulsen just won MOTM. He was a beast in DM, not letting anyone pass and intersecting passes.
