PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

it may be lost in translation but konami need to implement far more tactics. far far more indepth tactical board, like football manager, so we can give team instructions and individual player instructions. thats how teams will act differently and how to make AI have unlimited variety- through a proper tactics board!

has no one else noticed theyve seemingly taken away mental stats? positioning, work rate etc. wtf??? theyre promoting individuality but are missing huge parts of how players behave on the pitch.

Which would you prefer? On the one hand you're pretty hot about wanting Konami to include team and individual instructions but you also imply that Konami should utilise those mental stats, which to me means the players themselves should shine through based on their stats and not their coaches instructions.

Personally, I'd rather Konami make sure that the current tactics screen, coupled with player stats and the formation you've selected all work in harmony. That way I'd have to pick the best player for each position if I wanted my team to work well against the opposition's set up.

I wouldn't be fussed if they brought in the option as an extra layer that was optional, but I don't get the comparison to Football Manager. On this game, you're changing players all the time with the cursor so in effect you are overriding that player's instructions whenever you have control of him. You're meant to be out there controlling the players. It's not a pure management game.

Maybe on BAL mode where you're just in control of 1 man and are at the AI's mercy it would have some real benefit.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I tackle hard when there's nothing to play for, hence the CPU pain
hahaha

well yeah i'd like to see injuries in almost every game.. pretty much as IRL right?

i dont like pplaying the league or master league with super robots who rarely -if ever- even get injured

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

or shall I say what konami should do, so he sends Robbye Ron, the theme is so, we have the right brasil league? Well let's play a friendly ie cumun and current selections and clubs, however we are going to choose, I choose the Brazilian league and choose Santos of Brazil in this league then that Martian Leave chooses another team, (konami should put in where it says lationoamericanos friendly teams, every team in Copa Libertadores that unlicensed and shields such competitions, without the name of the equipment and if possible without uniforms, so then you avoid problems with the Copa Libertadores, you prevent teams brazil league repeat 2 times) is so difficult to do that. this is my 1st formal question I have for Konami Latam Robbye Erik and rum, they think of my proposal? , But also clarified that this must be because the weshop tools to stadiums must be in edit mode.
I hope many responses from all
attentively

So, what about players switching in Demo 2 ? In first demo that was mess ...

Agree. Lack of injuries is one of my pet hates with the game.

More frequently recurring and longer injuries would add a couple of important elements to the game.
1: I'd have to use my whole squad more in ML to cover for injuries.
2: I could target danger opponents and try to knock them out of the game. Bad sportsmanship but its a real tactic. It wouldn't always work anyway and I risk yellow and red cards.
3: I'd have to be more careful about making all 3 subs too early, with the increased threat of a player getting injured who could not be subbed.
4: Injury rating would become more important when buying players

Konami don't do injuries well:
- Out of 1177 players in the COPA 2012 mode, 1128 were given Injury rating A (players who will almost never get injured). This shows that very little research goes into injury proneness of players, especially for smaller teams. And instead of randomising between A, B and C most players just get put on A.
- Even good teams are not always researched well. Brad Friedel has made 307 consecutive PL appearances but last year Nokami gave him the worst injury rating.
- If you do get an injury it's hardly ever long term, mostly 1 or 2 weeks.

I force myself to get the worst athletic trainer to increase the number of injuries and the worst doctor to increase injury length but this way I miss out on some important benefits of a good athletic trainer.

To those who say injuries don't really happen that often, just look at the last round of Premier League fixtures. In 9 games, 9 players were forced to be subbed through injury. Taking 1 week is a small sample yes, but you'll see similar numbers of injuries most weeks. Currently the 20 PL clubs have an average of 3.4 players injured each.

Hope it will be better this year but of course all we know so far is that you can buy an item to accelerate your player's injury recovery :TD:

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

oh cmon what is that, the game comes out in 4 weeks and still nothing official about it, no teamlist? no stadium list? no game mode descriptions? no release date???

i think that late september is more like late october if this is the case, and they still will announce the date of the 2nd demo for pc a week before...

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

KONAMI is obviously wary of people cracking the PC Demo wide open. It must have been a bit scary to see crackers modify the duration of matches and unlock other teams.
I wouldn't expect a PC Demo 2 if I were you guys.

BTW, just the other day I saw something really cool on Demo 2. The CPU took a shot while laying on the ground! Has anyone seen this animation too?

It was after a corner kick or something, the ball ricocheting in my box, the AI attacker tripped and fell over, then the ball bounced back to him and he took a shot while still laying on the ground. I thought that was pretty cool :)

@ollywolly, I so agree. Great post.

In PES2012, I eventually thought "sod this" and did a mass edit using Barcafan's editor for the PC version and set everyone to the worst injury stat (C?). Then started a ML and combined with hiring the worst doctor / trainer, I had anywhere between 1 and 4 players injured at any given time and I obviously saw more AI injuries too.

Good idea :APPLAUD: ...if you can be arsed, that is ;)

PS, has anyone seen this at Moddingway?

Wow!

Regarding PC demo 2. Modders have been doing this to pes demos for the last few years so I doubt it would be that. Not sure what Konami are playing at but its annoying the hell out of me. If EA had a brain they'd release fifa 13 demo and take even more of the Konami faithful.

As much as I'm enjoying pes2013 demo I can't help but feel I'm getting ripped off year after year as the difference between each title year on year is very minimal considering they have 12 months to better the game.

When one modder can transform the game in days/weeks it kinda says it all.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I had one issue on player switching in about 20 to 30 games. The ball clipped Khedira on his ankle arounf the middle and rolled towards Pedro Iniesta and Busquest but the com wanted to select busquest while I was trying to get pedro to back track and collect after 3 swtiches with the right stick it eventually happened.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

lol i can imagine Konami having lots of corporate style board meetings to design this boot boosting idea. Patting each other on the back about how they'd cracked it, completely oblivious to what the consumer actually wants.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Player switching is worse the higher difficulty you play on, due to the cheating, I find. The 4 or 5 times I've played on Superstar level, the AI team's "efforts" to draw level or score a last minute winner causes a dead zone in terms of player switching on every attack. Only in my half of the pitch of course. On Top Player, it happens once or twice a game. But I play on PC and experiment with or without yair and Jenkey's anti-cheating files. When I use them, this of course happens less.

Player switching when in the opposition half, I have no beef with.

I'd imagine the corporate meeting consisted of 'how can we alter ML to increase our revenue streams?'. This whole thing reeks of advertising and marketing to me. Offering the chance to improve your player by putting on items of heavily branded clothing or accessories just stinks of behind the scenes marketing deals.

Of all the shit EA have pulled in the past, Konami have gone one better here. I mean changing core gameplay to suit branded items is pretty low.

Marketing is not the point here!! Whats the reason Adidas wants to see some of their advert-stars wearing nike's?!

again, they are doing this with madden, expect fifa to follow suite

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Player switching will never be perfect, I've come to terms with it.
Selecting with the right stick is a good way of helping this issue, but still it won't be perfect.

Sometimes it does look like AI cheating indeed. I remember once in my PES 2011 Master League the CPU took a 19 meters free kick that bounced back off the wall, then none of my 5 players that were on the wall were "selectable". I was hammering the L1 button to get the nearest defender to the ball, only to watch the CPU take the rebound unchallenged and fire it home. I almost broke another controller

No matter what, this will always exist.

right, because in real life a player who is very smart on the pitch can't possibly follow tactical instructions :PIG:

im not getting into this again, its a very simple to understand and ive argued it on here before....

simply: tactics and player abilites go hand in hand.

Personally, I'd rather Konami make sure that the current tactics screen, coupled with player stats and the formation you've selected all work in harmony. That way I'd have to pick the best player for each position if I wanted my team to work well against the opposition's set up.

where is your team shape? you think football is all about where you place your 11 dots on the pitch? that is 20% of the battle... is rest is about player instructons within that system.

I wouldn't be fussed if they brought in the option as an extra layer that was optional, but I don't get the comparison to Football Manager. this makes no sense. so because we are controlling players that means it doesnt matter what tactics we have? :PIG::PIG:

just imagine having FM like player and team intstructions in PES... then watching the AI vs AI play out those instructions in a barca vs Real match.... how good would that look? to see iniesta and xavi moving into triangles constantly, to see messi roaming about on his own in the middle just waiting around... to see pedro constantly looking for the inside pass.... for benzema to be on the shoulder when alonso has the ball waiting for a long ball.... now let a human control of the teams, AI vs player.... thats how fliud everything should be.. and its all down to tactics

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

It's so anoying that we are getting no information. No information for release date, 2nd PC Demo or licences. What the hell is Konami thinking?

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Marketing is not the point here!! Whats the reason Adidas wants to see some of their advert-stars wearing nike's?!

I doubt Adidas or Nike would give a shit to be honest, their shiny new distinctive boots will be appearing in a game aimed at their key demographic, displayed across the screen at regular intervals. It's just how advertising works. If you see something enough times you'll be far more likely to pick it when you're looking for a product in a shop. Products are designed to work their way into the consumers' subconscious.

To that end, if more people buy a pair of expensive Adidas boots off the back of a game ramming the visual site of those boots down people's throats, they don't give a monkeys whether Messi, Ronaldo or whoever else is seen wearing them in-game. Remember, it's going to be up to the user to choose those boots, and then choose who wears them in-game. The whole act is a giant marketing excercise. Once done in-game, the user will be über familiar with those boots as a real life product. It's kind of genius.
