PES 2013 Discussion Thread

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

There's a lot of confusion around here. The FOX Engine demo is shown on a PC running at specs comparable to current gen consoles. That doesn't mean that consoles can output that level of IQ. It's probably going go take a hit in resolution, AA and framerate in order to run on 360 and PS3.
Hopefully it won't and Kojima Productions has a bag full of technical tricks to pull that off.

The Agnis Tech demo from Square is developed for the next-generation of consoles, not this one. It's impressive regardless.

CryEngine 3 is neat, but as we've seen with Crysis 2, games run at sub-HD and take big hits in framerate in order to look that good.

Yes, i agree
If you look at the last 4 minutes it's clear MGS GZ is current gen. Still impressive, but not so impressive as the previous 10 minutes. Maybe we will reach that level with ps4, who knows

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

FOX is multiplatform ENGINE and they can use it in current engine and next gen engine on PS4. It's depend what they want to do and on which platform. The same like in FIFA. They can use the current engine code to transition to next gen consoles. FOX can do the same what Ea's engines in FIFA and Forsbite 2.0 in Battlefield 3.

i don't know
the current Fifa engine was not developed with next gen consoles (ps4..) in mind. That engine is just for ps3 and 360. I think EA is creating a completely new engine for next consoles

Some days ago Rutter explain it. He said that they don't think about new engine for next gen consoles becasue they have good code in current engine and they can simple transit and upgrade it to next gen consoles.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Right. Fox is huge! 2014 will use it for sure but in what way?!
Don't get all hyped... It's a different game. Nonetheless it will be a huge step in terms of graphics and animation!

That's what Seabass thought in 2006 as well. :COAT:

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

How are people getting on with Demo 2? I played a fair few games and didn't like how most of the shots were a bit weak, with the occasional rocket. So I've been trying different things out. I tried my method from PES 2011 which didn't work that well on PES 2012 because of how the sprint button worked.

I find that holding sprint normally doesn't put the ball out far enough in front of you to generate good power so the shot will look "okay" but not that good. You can even see by the animation that the full backswing doesn't happen and the player's foot gets a bit stuck under the ball.

The way I'm generating some real power is by giving a longer squeeze on the sprint button or giving it a double tap and then pressing shoot. Seems to be working quite well! Now the hard part is finding space to launch one ;)

Will keep trying this because I thought they had borked the shooting again and I was going to have to get FIFA lol.

Not so sure on the crossing though. Even if I pull the left stick towards the penalty spot, the ball seems to go too close to the keeper and not actually near the penalty spot.

R2 shots seem to work better when your body is a bit straighter on, as opposed to being diagonal or sideways to the goals.

Would hope that night games get a further tweak but it seems like we'll be stuck with the white lights all over the lawn again :(

No. It's different situation. PES engine in 2006 was created 4 years earlier and was very limited. FIFA engine in 2007 wasn't limited and Ea can do everything what they want. Only power on current consoles limit them. They wanted create full 360 degree and thet did it. They wanted create collision system and they did it. They wanted put impact engine in the game and they did it. Why? Because they have superb engine which not limit them to create new stuff. KONAMI have right now FOX ENGINE and they can do the same stuff what Ea make for years.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

You know that FIFA changed their engine in FIFA 10? It's completely unrelated to FIFA 07-09 ;).

Like I said in FIFA thread, no-one knows what EA Sports team is doing, except Rutter and co.

FIFA 14 could have already been made for past 2 years for example. There is also this possibility they will be pushing next FIFA on next engine version. The only thing we know is EA has got resources to do it. They can assign separate team to do it if they desire.

PES Team came out with this next engine will be FOX thing why? To get people attention. As they know their PES 2008 and next versions weren't good games. It's like kids shouting at school to get attention if you know what I mean ;).

We have at least 1 year of waiting for screens, tech vids and news about PES 2014 so let's concentrate on PES 2013 for now :D.

PES 2013 demo#2 on PS3 is a beauty, but can't stop playing it on PC. 10 mins halves + test9 from yair, + PES Viet patch + Alternative turfs + White nets + Balls pack + Stadiums :D.

Hey! Amazing :D.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I don't really have faith in Konami to fully utilise this new engine, I get the feeling (and I am in know way knowledgeable on the subject) that they perhaps aren't as talented in terms of programming as other studios, just from a few comments I've read over time. Like for example the inability to add third kits in the current engine because of supposed limitations.

Time will tell, I hope they can pull it off, but I won't be expecting miracles in the first 1-2 games, that's for sure.

P.S Will the 2nd demo for PC hurry up now, I'm taking an enforced break from the 1st demo so I'm fresh and ready to play the 2nd to death (or till the actual game is released?)

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Someone asked this:

1. Can you still pre-edit before you even start ML? Meaning change names, stats, boots, stadiums, etc.?
2. If so, then this "micro-boosting" crap (yes, it's total crap), won't really matter.
3. And will we be given the option to "opt out" of it and play in a classic mode? This would not sour me to PES13.

Answers:

1) You change things think the player physique and hairstyles in edit mode and those changes will show up in, but as you have read, all players start with black basic boots.

2) So, from answer one, it does matter

3) Right now, no. Hence the reaction, and the thread.

Insanity. O_O

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

PES 2011 was a brand new engine. It might not have been as good looking as FIFA but it was new, with new graphics and an animation system, Konami said so themselves. That's the engine being used in 2012 and 2013, and it has improved each year. You can already see that the graphics are slightly better this year and the animations and transitions are smoother.

PES 2008, 2009, 2010 used the old PS2 engine with a few next gen assets but they rebuilt it for 2011, why has everyone forgotten? People still think PES is using the PS2 engine and thats just not true.

And as someone mentioned above, they are not using the FOX engine completely for PES 2014, but sharing tech and using stuff from it, whether that be physics, coding techniques, lighting etc.

Absolutely no. Pes 2011 use the same engine like in Pes 2008-2013. Only new thing is animations system. What i said above. New animations in limited engine can't make good results.

Ok my bad. You're right. PES 2011 was based on same old gen engine of 2008 LOL.

PES 2011 was not a brand new engine. It was a heavily modified version of the engine that they have been using for a long time now.
A brand new engine implies that they started from scratch, they did not. They re-use a lot of stuff and changed a few others.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

I bet that even with the "fox engine" we'll still see stuff like that dreaded toe poke pass.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Surely a year from now there will either be a next-gen PES or Konami will be heavily working on one? I have always connected all this Fox-engine talk to next-gen, I'm doubtful they will even go through the motions of having their last current-gen game Fox-Engine.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Right now we know that Fox Engine is not just a tech demo but it's a game. That's a very good thing. Kojima yesterday said it's multipurpose and it can be used for other gaming genres, not just action.
It should be easy to use. I just hope Konami developers (european or japanese) will manage to adapt it to pes.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

pes 2014 is definetely in the works for a while now, why else would konami be talking about pes 2014 months before 2013 is even released

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

They must have started working on PES 2014 when PES 2012 was released. That would make most sense to me.

But is this the case here, we don't know :D.

Re: PES 2013 Discussion Thread .......

Be it FIFA or PES, I have never found 360 dribbling/movement to be that much of a "game changer". Not to say it isn't welcome, but it was more a natural progression than super-duper innovation. FIFA10 and all the games that since followed have made me appreciate just how good FIFA09 was.
