The problem with the game is inherent I believe until the new engine, and that is the total imbalance between the rules that the human player has to abide by to get from A to B to C, compared with the CPU counterpart. The problem is deep I fear. The CPU hardly ever look to go back, or indeed sideways. They never look to maintain possession in their defensive third for periods of time to force me out of position. Why? Because they don't have to. Eventually passing lanes will open, because the game is designed to go forwards, forwards, all the time. When was the last time the CPU held possession for say 30 seconds to a minute of earth time? Never! And that is the problem. My point goes hand in hand with Henry's Hand (no pun intended) points, in that a real time stamina system MUST be introduced to force the game (both human AND CPU) to slow down and have moments of breathing space.

Zero assist may be just fine v Professional mode or whatever, but Top Player and Superstar, by now, should be the ultimate in simulation experience. It should simulate football both for the human and the human should feel that the CPU is simulating football too. Knock 2011 all you want, I feel the game balance was close to the real thing, they just needed to make the CPU more patient again whilst freeing up the rails.

All it seems I'm doing at the moment is grabbing the CPU by its coat-tails as it mounts yet another direct, central attack. I'm constantly forcing the game to slow the fk down. I'm begging Pirlo to keep possession and pass back and sideways if blocked. I'm begging Ibrahimovic to stop, turn back and pass the ball back into midfield instead of going solo for the 80th time.

The main flaw, and it's breaking the game for me, is the CPU's total lack of pitch/human player awareness. They attack with total abandon as if losing possession anywhere on the pitch is just fine. I'm also getting pissed off at the space in midfield on counter attacks, it seems the defensive AI never pushes up congesting the pitch, just leaving acres if midfield area to mount yet another breathless attack.

Until a game, both FIFA and PES, begin to replicate a real game of football in terms of patience and player awareness, and to get the CPU to move me about in a focused planned manner from defence through the midfield instead of going all Maradona on my ass, then I'm going to continue to be disappointed. What is 2013 so far? Probably a 7/10 effort in my eyes. But in 2013 I now expect and now demand even more. At the moment there's not enough in the demo to suggest I'm going to be shelling out for this year's iteration. It's just too close to a patched up Jenkey's 2012 version for my liking with some first touch and movement alterations.

I really hope the 2nd demo will prove me wrong.

Perfect description and analisys of bad issues involving gameplay engine.
Really a good manifesto of "mature Pes videogamers"...

Maybe demo 2 and final version will be slightly better.
Konamy can not be totally blind.

Anyway my hope is in Jenke's tool and Yair good work..:))

I'm sure he can read. What he's saying correct though. As of PES2012 the pre-match loading is done while you're in the tactics menu so when you press start you go straight into the stadium.

This is how it is in the demo too. I doubt Konami have 'added' loading time just so they can shoehorn in an arena mode.

its said that manual passing is going to be better in the second demo by konami, there is no sense to discuss it right now
i felt directly that 0 bar is bugged and went to 1 or 2

Player selection on 0 bar passing is absolutely infuriating, at least 10-20 times a match it will select the wrong player and not even let me manually switch to the player closest to the ball. Biggest issue with the demo by a country mile for me.

Wednesday can't come soon enough. I hope to get the PS3 demo now and get good 10 minute games in and I hope to hell there aren't any obligatory videos to watch.

I am all for PC demos they look sexy and the patchers do great work with the teams unlocker and so forth. I don't however like when they fiddle with the gameplay. Leave that to the experts is what I say.

Ah yeah... Forgot.

But sad news is, FIFA demo is coming in September too.

For PC.

That's the platform PES gets most sales from I believe as most console guys switched to FIFA. Abandoning PES demo out from releasing in same time as consoles... Might be v. bad move on KONAMI part.

I doubt it's due to our modding community too...

Hm funny you say that when yair/jenkey have to fix the same bugs every year. stupid to think smart people cant improve a game from major company, it happens in many games in many genres and often teh modders end up being hired by the companies

last year? there was pc demo fuzz too, and it came out even earlier than the consoles or among the lines..

no surprise if it hits the same day as the console version

Yeah I play a lot more online than I do offline and feel that the game is built around both aspects to ensure a balance that incorporates online and offline. So I can't be playing a game offline with certain 'restrictions' then go online and have to adjust to overcome them. Hence the reason I prefer playing an unaltered game.

Same rule applies to option files I would get the kits and aesthetics but prefer to stay away from stat altering albeit correct to not upset the balance of the game.

Formations and team gameplans are another story though. Not knocking the great work they do of course maybe they can apply for those jobs konami have advertised for the UK office.

Agreed, I don't like to alter the gameplay for those very reasons also.

That's fair enough, I play PES mostly for offline, but only because online experience has been bad since PES 2008. If it's good this year and there are manual lobbies I might venture into some online action.

i know that gameplay is more important than graphic and visuals.

But, i tried so hard to like this gane but i really cant play it, The models are so ugly, the untucked rigid kits, the movement of waist VS. the torso movement = 0 coordination. The ugly movements of the arms while running. This 2012's year game really really hurt my eyes.

maybe my thought may sound empty for some people, sorry for that i need to post it to take out some anger.

ps: my english sucks jejeje.
