Boro are currently lying in 9th place in the Championship and still looking to secure promotion as they enter the final quarter of the season. The league is really hotting up now, with only 5 points seperating 1st and 9th place. Everybody is beating each other.
After losing two games on the bounce, Boro managed to secure seven points from a possible nine on offer, from their last three games. Boro fans had their hearts broken against Cardiff, after taking an early lead through Tamudo, two goals within the last 10 minutes saw them slump to a 2-1 defeat. Leeds then added to Boro's woes with a 1-0 victory at Elland Road against the run of play.
Next up was West Brom away. They took the lead via a headed corner, and as much as Boro pressed, they just couldnt manage to score the elusive equaliser. Resigned to the fact they were heading for their 3rd straight loss, Boro handed their recently signed Youth product, Nuno Gomes his debut with less than 5 minutes on the stopwatch. Boro altered formation, and out came the Kitchen Sink, 4-1-1-4. A perfectly timed through-ball from Williams found Gomes. His fresh legs meant he was never going to be caught. As the 16 year old raced towards goal, eating up the ground like a horse, his cute chip over the advancing keeper secured Boro a share of the spoils in the very last minute. 1-1. Gomes owns the Super Sub Player Card, and it did exactly as it said on the tin.
Boro's next game was away to Reading, in what turned out to be a very physical encounter. Boro took the lead courtesy of a Tamudo half-volley from just outside the box, which sailed into the bottom corner. With 10 minutes to play, Reading changed it up to a 4-3-3 and were instantly rewarded when a cross from the flank was headed home at close range. 1-1. With 5 minutes left, the Boro boss instructed young Gomes to get stripped. Off the bench he came, and his impact was instant. A deep cross from the left via Petrov's cultured left peg saw the youngster rise above the static Reading defence and Gomes's 86 Heading Accuracy and Super Sub card did the rest. 2-1 Boro, and that's how it ended. Teesside had a new hero.

Todays Match of the Day features Boro hosting League leaders Crystal Palace. The visitors took the lead after corner was headed home from close range. Boro then equalised after Tamudo showed his undeniable class with a touch-and-turn finish into the bottom corner. 1-1. Petrov nearly put Boro ahead from a trademark freekick, but the Palace No.1 showed strong hands to parry it wide. Palace then went ahead for the second time, a great little give-and-go put in their striker, his finish more than matched the build-up play. 2-1 Palace. Boro fought-back again, a run and threaded pass from Shimizu picked out Emnes, he held up play then reversed a pass back onto the Shimizu run, and his finish was never in doubt. 2-2. Game on.
Boro then took the lead for the first time in the game, a threaded pass from on loan Dannis found Emnes. Emnes pulled off a subtle R2 feint to confuse the tracking Palace center-back, and his beautiful left foot, not for the first time this season, smashed the ball back across the goal and into the bottom corner. 3-2 Boro, and that's how it ended.
