PES 2012 Football Life thread

I haven't played with this option on but I imagine it does work. It just leaves all financial control up to your chairman which is a situation a lot of real managers find. I think the yearly budget will vary depending on the stature of your club. This is what I understand from reading various stuff on the net, but do you mind sticking it out and reporting back on it later? I'd really like to know a little more about this option.

By the way, the option is 'off'. I think i will stick it out, as i'm curious too. It could be the sort of challenge i like, because normally you end up making too much money, hire the better coaches, scouts etc and you end up with unrealistic amounts of money (for the clubs i normally play with).

This way, if i get little money and staff don't get upgraded, or i go bankrupt, i will have to wait until i get promoted (surely i'll get more cash for that) and that would take a good few seasons at this rate. That's if i don't get the sack before that.

Hopefully someone will offer me good money for Palmieri. It's silly how youth players have larger wages than the established ML squad. I think my best avenue for making cash is selling my best youth players, which is kind of life-like.

I have been playing a massive ML session with Trabzonspor.
The tema has a couple of player i really like: Colman (he played in Belgium and he was very good here), who has great passing ability. There are a couple of good Turkish players too (can't remember their names at the moment).
I've had several injuries, one for 8 weeks (Slovenian LB Cech).
Currently fifth, which is good since the chairman wants me to play in the Euro League. I never was able to keep the nil in any of the matches...
Transferring players is quite hard this year if you don't want to give an amount of money that is 2 or 3 times the player's value (i refuse to do that). I haven't succeeded in transferring a single players. Wanted to buy Chievo's Bradley, but he refused to come because i already had too much CMF and he did not want to fight for his place every week (nice litle touch this). I'm gonna keep asking him...see what the outcome will be.

Oh and the players are moaning constantly, Colman wanted number 10, i thought to humour him and gave him that number.Afterwards he was still unhappy because he could not get his favourite number (another Konami bug? or have i missed something?).

After dropping to 16th in the Championship with Middlesbrough, I was fearing the worst. Then it happened. My fortunes changed, and quite dramatically.

The game in question was against Cardiff. Boro had gone ahead from a cracking passing move finished by Emnes. Then the most outrageous thing happened. My keeper dived and collected a weak shot on my byline. He then stood up, turned the opposite way with the ball in his hands and conceded a corner. From the corner Cardiff equalised. To say I was outraged would be a massive understatement. Five minutes later Cardiff scored again. Now I was pissed off. With only 10 minutes remaining, and myself convinced that I was heading to another loss, my fortunes changed. Another great move fed Emnes, who finished in the bottom corner. 2-2. Then justice, for once on this game was served. A mix-up in by the usually super-composed CPU defence, saw their CB try to clear the ball, it smashed off the other CPU's CB's leg, and rebounded into the goal. 3-2 Boro. And that's how it ended.

After that game, it was the Winter Break ( Yes I know, we dont have one in England) and the January transfer window. I put Utaka, whom I'd bought at the beginning of the season on the Transer List, as well as some other dead-wood to bring in cash. I scouted the market for another decent striker, but during this period, all my offers were rejected. I then picked up Mandelli, a CB from Cheivo, a player I know very well, on loan. I also bought Ian Harte, as he was available. What a player he is by the way, he has the Offensive Full-Back Card, the Long Drive, Long Ranger and Pinpoint Pass Player Card, to name but a few. I also picked up Chopra just before the window ended.

I worked on Technique throughout the whole of the break, as I want to focus on getting my lads better at the basics. This worked wonders as Shimizu rose to 80 Overall, with his stats increasing heavily across the board. I really love this new Training Regime, it's so much more realistic. Like I have mentioned in the Discussion Thread, the individual training from previous years was fun, but very unrealistic. You simply cant make any player a Pinpoint Passer and Playmaker in 8 weeks. It's just silly. At least this way, you can train your squad in Technique, and their own game will improve based on what they are naturally good at. Which is, how it is in real-life.

Also, this whole Team Training gives us, the Manager, the opportunity to create your team and get them playing how you want. I'm taking the Tony Mowbray route of teaching the lads how to play the game on the deck. Other's may choose to concentrate soley on creating a super-fit squad, with Condition being the primary focus. I train Technique the most, a couple of days Condition, then the day before the game, I opt for Strategy, and this certainly helps your team to be more organised on Match-Day.

So, with Utaka gone, and Chopra yet to arrive, I gave Riberio his debut against Portsmouth. He only scored the winner in a 1-0 victory for the Boro. We looked superb, with Harte and Mandelli making a HUGE difference at the back. Checking the squad after the game, everyone was buzzing. Harte told me that he's never felt so welcomed, and sure enough, the next 3 games he played he started on a Red. The next game Boro beat Leeds 3-1, another two goals from Riberio (sp) and one from Emnes. Chopra played the last twenty minutes for Emnes, but never really got chance to shine.

Next up was Birmingham, at tough game away that Boro won 1-0, another from Riberio. Boro are looking so tight in defence now, with both signings playing out of their skin. Mandelli just bosses everything, and his positioning is sublime.

Boro made it 4 in a row with a 2-1 win over Leeds, and that's the first time I've ever won more than 2 games in a row.

As it stands now, Boro are 9th in the Championship and full of confidence. ML has gone from being a miserable slog, to the best experience of football I've ever had the pleasure to be involved with. Absolutely loving it.

I've worked out why. I had club management switched off when i began the ML (i don't have a finances menu). I don't think it can be turned on afterwards. I wonder what will happen come the end of the season.

Just to clarify, expected earnings just work when you're in the start of the new season and it's sort of a way to control spending.

You'll make money from sponsors every new season, gate receipts (the more you win, the more people will attend your matches), win bonuses and prize money, which depends solely on your performance. The better you perform, more you earn. The same truth applies to new sponsorship deals. I've got a 10 million one atm, plus all the rest, which sums up to nearly 25 million.

When you get to Europe, each competition has a victory bonus, which added to gate receipts (usually 3x more) and your sponsorship bonuses means you'll be making a shitload per match.

Yes, it's the usual from recent ML's, but as i have the option turned off, i don't get the Finance icon and the ability to choose or set these deals.

Could anyone in Div2 who is playing with the default team tell me roughly how much they got/get for home gates, in their first season? Thanks. I'd like to try and calculate what i can't see. Sponsors obviously vary a lot more.

I'm fighting relegation in my first PL season. I'm playing with Blackpool and default players. Started in d2 and didn't got promoted in the first season, but i won the D2 title next season.

Premier League is tough. Blackpool is 17th with 8W 4D and 16L so far.
My team:

........Luis Barros (GK).....
Xechinto Palmieri Bikey Duffy
......Romaric....Strasser....
Moravek............Shimizu...
.........Luis Garcia.........
.........Kravets.............

Need a good (and very cheap) striker. Any tip?

Im about to start up again, got my setting wrong last time.. but i just remembered you an add your own tracks to the menus.. last year this actually led to problems with game play.. does it have the same effect :S (i know this would be better aked in the Discussion thread.. but it seems to be mainly gloom and doom these days.. )

Adding your own tracks wont effect anything bud, I'd also grab a Chants Pack and add those, the game is so much better with that type of atmosphere. :TU:

Yesterday i had one of those unforgettable experiences you can only have in PES. I'm playing a ML with Trabzonspor in a mixed league with all sorts of teams. Trabzonspor had a pretty good start, but had lost 3 matches in a row (and those Turkish presidents are not the most patient people). What followed was a home match against 16th Otelul Galati. After barely 8 minutes Otelul had scored 2 goals and in first half injury time they scored another one with their third attack. I was getting frustrated, but decided to rehussle my team and completely change tactics. In the second half Trabzonspor where the better team, but after 70 minutes my team was still loosing 3-0. Then Brazilian winger Alanzinho decided that his moment had come...he scored a fatastic goal after a long slalom through Otelul's defense...this gave me a boost and Trabzonspor scored 3 more goals to win the game with 4-3. This is what PES is all about. Despite all the obvious falws, there is not a single goal that can give that sort of kick (well NBA 2K is fantastic too, but i'm not good enough).
The match after that Trabzonspor won against AEK Athens (3-0) and i went to bed as a happy and enthusiastic litle boy...

Great story Gerd, and a fantastic comeback, very well played. ;)

Boro continued their fight for Championship promotion last night, but a slew of Red Cards and injuries have blighted their hopes for the most part. Some fantastic results were negated by some close defeats that have left the Boro team in 10th position and a chance of automatic promotion, well, slim at best.

Todays Match of the Day highlights are from the Cardiff City game. Boro went behind after Earnshaw (Cardiffs Dangerman according to my Coach) scored to send the away fans wild. Boro fought back with two cheeky dinks from youngster Ribiero, and another from Chopra, his frist for the club, a delightful R2 finish. Boro really have upped their passing game thanks to plenty of work on the Training Ground in the Technique department and have risen from a D to a B in that particular area. Absolutely love how you can not only build your sqaud this year, but also define and put your own stamp on how they play. All done via this new Training Regime system.

YouTube - Boro 3-1 Cardiff

Check out the slight movement of the Keeper on Cardiff's Freekick, I just moved him little to his left manually to narrow the angle. Also, the pass from CB Hines for Chopra's goal was born out from alot of Technique work with regards passing on the Training Ground. His Long Pass Accuracy stats have risen from 73 to 79. Not bad for a CB.

YouTube - Maxed out R2 Controlled Shot

I love this new R2 controlled shot that is available this year. You can actually hit them from anywhere, much like the way Beckham did against Wimbledon. The technique for this type of strike is absolutely perfect. The power is completely substituted for accuracy, even from long range. And this is a perfect example of actually how this would be done in real life. Right down to the curl and lift of the ball. Beautiful, well done Konami.

YouTube - Dancing Dernis

Sometimes, when the box is crowded, you might just want to take those players on. Dernis had a split second to shoot after this run, but missed his window and was finally tackled with a last minute interception. Nice dribble though, with R2 and Shot Cancel creating the chance.

Nice stories from you lads.. great comeback from Gerd and some nice match reports Jimmy..
What fan chants are you using.. looking for some to load in..
And my ML is so much better now im playing to the sunds of Cage the Elephant, 30seconds to Mars and some of my other favourites :)
Havent actually got round to starting properly.. hadsometest runs with a few rteams to see what to go for.. the realism of taking a full squad or the challenge of the defaults..

Side note: anyone else noticed how fantastic Sturridge has been recently? and just watching the Chelsea- newcasstle game

RIP Speedo.. what a legend!

Lol, i turn the music off/down. i don't think you can add game tracks on the 360?

I also had a great comeback win, 3-2. I went 1-0 up and then went down 1-2, only to get two more. It's quite something for me to make a comeback these days, especially to win, as wins are quite hard fought.

Really? Should be able to! Look through the menus like general settings or something like that and it should come upp with playlists etc.. then you should be able to add them? :L
And nice win! Im really looking forward to starting up and playing! :)

I looked last year and you could add game tracks. Yeah in one of the settings menu's from the main menu screen (Top menu) you can select or deselect what songs play and I think you can add ones that are ripped to your hard drive.

A little update from my seriously addictive offline ML. Boro ended their first season in 14th place, with a record of Won 12 Lost 18 Drawn 4. It was a tough season, but the Chairman, much in the Steve Gibson mould, appreciated my efforts and understood Rome wasnt built in a day. Emnes finished Club Top Scorer with 18 goals, and Shimizu earned a place in the Best Championship 11.

Serious work within the Transfer Market was required, but with very little money available, I needed to wheel-and-deal in the Loan Transfer scene. I re-signed Mandelli from Chievo, which was a major boost, as he was outstanding last season. I also took Tamudo on Loan for a year, as well as Ramage, a CB/RB, and a chap called Dannis who can play all over the middle of the park. I bought Petrov as well from Bolton, he was a huge signing, a guy I know and love from my PEEL Domestic Team. I also brought in a player called Jenkins on Loan, a DMF with the Enforcer Card with an overall of 66. Matty Bates has progressed massively due to my Technique work on the Training Ground, and currently sits at 81 Overall. Shimizu is up to 83 Overall, and with Petrov on 82, my Midfield is looking solid, albeit short on quality numbers. Out went Joe Bennett ( A young Boro kid that I wish now I hadn't sold. I thought I needed the money. :( ) Also, Link, Bailey and Robson. I managed to secure Silvestre's services as well for his final year in Professional football.

Boro kicked off their new season with a 1-0 win at Derby. I've decided to go 4-2-3-1 away from Home, with two DMF's, Bates and Williams keeping everything tight. My play-maker supreme, Julio Arca, opened this season's account with a beautiful placed shot into the corner after a threaded Emnes pass.

YouTube - Arca Strike

Next up was Blackpool at home, but with Tamudo on another Purple, I opted for the same 4-2-3-1 formation. Blackpool dominated the first half and went ahead after 20 minutes from a corner. Boro changed their Possession Game to Quick Counter, and got the equaliser on 84 minutes, after a Petrov cross was smashed home on the half-volley from Shimizu, adorning his new number 10 shirt. The game ended 1-1, and Boro were happy with the point.

Next up, and my last game, was an away match in Cardiff. Emnes had picked up a knock in Training, so Tamudo earned his first start, thankfully on a Green. It didnt take long for Tamudo to make his impact. Some nifty footwork in the box drew a rash challenge from the Cardiff CB, and the Ref pointed to the spot. Arca stepped up and pulled off a cheeky dink straight down the middle. 1-0 Boro. Within 20 minutes, Tamudo had made a nuisance of himself again in the Cardiff box, another rash challenge, and another penalty. Arca pulled a double-bluff, and again, dinked another down the middle. 2-0 Boro. This seemed to knock all of the wind out of Cardiff, and with only minutes remaining, a chipped through ball from Arca, beat the Offside Trap, and Tamudo raced clear on goal. A cool placed finish into the bottom corner later, and Boro were cruising at 3-0. And that's how it ended.

A great start to the season then, Boro in 5th and unbeaten. But there is a long way to go yet.......

A couple of tips that have certainly helped me so far....

Shot Cancel is the most effective trick in the game. This takes out the very pressuring CPU with ease, and they dont seem to have an answer for the old drop of the shoulder. Both penalties against Cardiff came from those. Pressing Shoot then X and a direction of which way you wish to move is pure Gold.

Holding R2 when pressing Circle for a lobbed, floated High-Pass is beautiful. Much in the same way R2 and X produces a controlled pass along the deck, this does the same but in the air. It takes alot of sting and pace off the pass, but is very accurate, especially when using Zero Assistance.

Slide-Tackle is my new best friend. After years of using the simply the Pressure or X buttons, this has massively changed the way I defend. When attempted with decent defenders, the success rate is very high. Mandelli and McManus love them.

Also, I played out the last 3 League games of my first season on 5 minute games. There was nothing to play for, and I wanted to get back into the Transfer Market asap. What I noticed on 5 minute games is how ridiculously unbalanced it is. Every pass the CPU makes is a forward one. I expect that 10 minute matches are only slightly better in this regard. 15 minute games are so much more balanced, and I implore anybody that is playing on 10 minute games to change. The difference is huge.

This ML has got me by the balls, I'm loving this challenge and I'm preferring it to Online. Which is crazy for me.

Edit- Taylor, I'll have a look for some Chants Pack links and get back to you.

Cheers Jimmy, and i've been using 10 minute games.. might be why our experiences with the same OF have been so different.. so i will go up to 15 minutes and see how it feels..

Still havent got a game played.. worked all weekend and ill today.. so might get the game up and playing this afternoon..

Picking a team for ML is the secondest most difficult decision in my life i swear! (the first being which starter Pokemon to choose!) and i kind of have to sit there thinking at FL screen on who to be.. My brother (who doesnt follow football) suggested Leeds.. i told him to go away in so many words.. Peterborough are my obvious choice cause of their link with United but their lack of funds annoys me.. Blackpool's starting squad is too strong, and all the others have horrible kits (yeah, that affects my choices)so looks like a difficult time for me! :L

Join me at the Boro bud, and trust me when I say, 15 minute matches play out totally different. ;)

I will join you at Middlesborough.. see who has the better fortunes with them! :L

Also when i downloaded the chants pack there was no Championship chants? Just wnering if ive missed a link somewhere :L

I have a different pack I can upload at some point bud. I wouldn't worry about those just yet anyway. The chants dont play when your in Division 2, due to the low crowd capacity. Stupid decision by Konami. If/when, you get Boro promoted, I'll send you the Boro chants for the EPL, and whichever other Championship teams get promoted.

Ah cheers, and it definately is a stupid decision.. and one which makes no sense as last year i remember watching a couple of games back to back on TV one was a Championship , thhe other a United match.. and how i saw it was the crowds where so much more lively in the 20,000 crowd at the Championship match compared to the near 75,000 at United.. crazy

Just made my First trasfer: Long from West Bromwich Albion the 24 year old striker cost just £690k and has decent shot and head accuracy as well as speed to compete in the championship has signed a 4 year deal worth £200k a year
And the second player to join my Middlesborough revolution is leftback Legittimoa decent attacking option the italian joins from US Lecce in a £420k deal and signed a 2year contract worth £122k

Roughly 80-90k per match at the start. Gets better near the end of the season. A lil' less than 2 million euros.

4 games into the meague and im at: W0 D2 L2
Game 1: Cardiff 2-0 Middlesborough
Miller scored, then Bates put through his net (get used to this line)

Game2: Peterborough United 2-2 Middlesborough
Tunnicliffe scored a long shot into the bottom corner, McDonald equalised later in the first half..

Tunnicliffe then hit a freekick in off the post, before Emnes (who had a blue arrow) came on for the last 20minutes got the ball in the 87th minute and curled in..

Game 3: Middlesborough 2-2 Derby County
2 early goals from new boy Long some nice skills that boy has, but the second half was a nightmare Tyson profitted from a poor piece of keeping to score from 2 yards, and then Bates pput through his own net for the 2nd (and not the final timein these 4 games) and so the scores equal and another point for boro..

Game 4: Leicester City 3-0 Middlesborough
Bates was on the field for 34 minutes enough time for him to score an own goal and get sent off.. hes a mess..
And then 2 other less memorable goals..
I ididnt even get a shot on target..

And my new left back is stuck on a blue arrow..

Miost frustrating start to a ML yet... but Long is a great player.. and i will pick up results (despite being 18th)

Are you serious?!? The chants don't play in Div2...??

Thanks for answering.

I played three more games last night (D2, first season, default squad). I was beaten twice in a row at home, one of which was a humiliating defeat. Then i managed a 1-1 draw. Annoyingly, i could have won that one. Burchet, who grabbed the equaliser, later missed a golden opportunity with only minutes left in the game.

It was a clearance from a corner or FK down my end which led to a quick break from Burchet. This really was a case of sprint, as i caught them short. Just after the halfway line, it was 2 on 1. I think it was Heeders sprinting down the middle/right side as Burchet was tearing down the centre/left. Heeders didn't quite take up a great passing position near the box, so Burchet rounded the keeper, who pushed him out to the left a bit more in the process. He struck with his left, but it went agonisingly wide. Head in hands moment.

Naturally, due to my poor form, i'm 15th in the (D2) table. After that good display, Burchet picked up a knock in training (a week or two out), but recently Baumann picked up an injury in training and is out for 29 weeks  . I'm still waiting for Ettori to come back. I think he must now have 3 or 4 weeks left. I'm certainly missing him. He's still the team's top scorer with 2 goals. I'm sure he would have netted a few more times for me since and set up a few. I guess my squad rotation means i get goals from different players.

Yes, deadly serious. :(

Bates was on the field for 34 minutes enough time for him to score an own goal and get sent off.. hes a mess..

Matty Bates has been brilliant for me, and is my Club Captain, as he is for Boro in real-life. To be honest, I tweaked Matty's stats a little before I started my ML. I just didnt feel they did him justice. Also, I know Batesy personally, I've been a friend of his brother, Jason, since school. Matty also played for my 5-a-side team about 4 years ago. Jason brought him down for a top-of-the-table clash in the Premier League we were in. Matty played a blinder, obviously. Cracking player, and very versatile.

Back to the ML......

Boro's unbeaten run was finally ended by dirty Leeds, who beat us 2-1 at Elland Road. With both Tamudo and Emnes fully fit, I opted for a 4-4-2, but was punished. Tamudo scored, and currently has scored 9 goals in 6 games. In fact, he has scored in every game he has played since his debut. Jon Champion even mentioned during commentary that he has scored in the last 6 games he's played. I liked that. :)

A 2-1 defeat by both Wigan and Burnley had lowered morale within the squad. In both games Boro went for the winner, but conceded late on the counter. I wish we had just settled for a point in both games, but hindsight is a beautiful thing, is it not.

Next up was our Match of the Day feature, against Portsmouth at home. Feeling that the 3points were minimum requirement, I went 4-4-2 again. Portsmouth scored first, one of those nasty ones. To be fair, my keeper was not only unsighted due to the CB being within his line of vision, but also it was my reserve keeper that sneaked into the team without me realising. I had played him the previous game at Blackpool due to Steele being on a Purple, then I forgot to take him out, and forgot to put Steele on the bench. :(

YouTube - Boro 4-2 Portsmouth

I feared the worst, but then the fight-back began. Mandelli pulled off a CPU special, by equalising not long after, courtesy of a header from a pin-point Petrov corner. Reece Williams then found the bottom corner with a strike, that took a very slight deflection. 2-1 Boro. Tamudo then made it 3-1, with a placed curling shot into the far corner. 3-1 Boro. Tamudo added another to his impressive season's tally, with a header from a Ramage cross. Kanu then pulled one back for Portsmouth late on, but it was all a little too late.

Boro are currently sitting 8th in the table after 11 games. This is going to be a very hard season, but if we dont make promotion, then I'm happy to build again for the following year. I've already considered building up Shimizu as much as possible, with the option to cash-in at the end of the season. That should release some decent funds to buy more players. Which is classic Boro by the way, see Downing, Johnson and Wheater.

I also couldnt believe my eyes last night during a match at home to Crystal Palace. The game ended 2-1 to Boro, with Emnes and Tamudo both notching. But it was what happened towards the end of the game the left me gobsmacked. Palace had a throw-in, deep in the Boro half. I then noticed the player taking the Long Throw was the Palace keeper. :CONFUSE:

I'd hoped an interception would give me the option to break for an open-goal. But the keeper back-tracked and ended up winning the ball back in the middle of the park. :CONFUSE:

YouTube - Keeper Takes Long Throw

Taylor,

Try using Steele in goal, also Reece Williams is very good in DMF or RB. Bates I play DMF as well. Joe Bennett is also a very good LB, and progresses very quickly if you focus on Technique in Training.

Edit - I've just remembered a game I played away at Wigan last night. They were obviously demoted last season, but I had played them in the First Round of the F.A. Cup last season, and I added Wigan's chants, but also added a Boro one in their slot to give the impression my fans were there. Anyway, when I played Wigan away last night, the chants could be heard again. Now two things, from a plus perspective, at least the former EPL teams bring their capacity and fans with them to Div 2, which is great. I just hope now that it isnt Div 2 specific, meaning, I hope when I finally get promoted, my crowd capacity increases, and I get the Boro chants. Also, I'm wondering, if I then get relegated again, will my crowd capacity from the EPL, then come back with me to Div 2 ? Alot of questions to be answered in that regard. Either way, it was just nice to hear my chants again, even if it was just for that game. At least I can now add the Chants to the other two teams demoted, so I can hear them in all their glory.

By the way, I love this thread. It's a breath of fresh air. Troll-free. ;)

Good point, I've only had two in-game injuries in a season and a quarter. Both this season, Petrov and Williams. They were horrific challenges though.
