No im not i picked up on his quote but the post is aimed at quite a few, who think its fine for one game to have its problems glossed over (pes), but for another game to come in for heavy criticism (fifa).
Its whats called fanboyism. Would be nice to see more balanced views, i mean i bought the game anyway to try for myself, but if i came in here looking for reasons to buy i'd be getting it home and feeling fairly duped listening to some of you.
Just like WENB, a balanced view would be good so we could gauge the game properly and get the feedback back and right. WENB podcast was unbelievable the other day (but i didnt expect nothing else) As a flagship site for the PES community they have a duty to give an honest view, not give a favourable one based on whether they recieve their early free copies and play testing from Konami.
Why is it there in the first place? We have people moaning about assisted FIFA passing yet konami has assisted tackling!

Ok, so today I'm off work, and I'm concentrating on finding a couple more formations with relevant strategies and tactics. For the first time ever last night, I felt humbled, things need to change, I require another few strings to my bow.

Ive got a love/hate thing with this game. Sometimes I play matches that feel realistic, other times my controller is flying all over the place. I gotta say though, the new path is the right one, but it feels like their not even halfway the ladder.
Major improvement are the animations. It makes the game deeper because the movement options are increased. Things like turning in different angles, last touch passes or first touch passes gives more controll which means more options which means more freedom. Alas not total freedom, far from it to be exact. Where my major objection with fifa in the past were waiting moments for the animation, pes now has its fair share of this. Ofcourse, in real time this would also take some time, but there is always room for correction. A last changing effort for if things seem to go wrong, where pes lacks this. It would also make the game more fluid. Something fifa does have, although with fifa there is too much of this, which in turn breaks down the realism.
Another improvement is the gameplay. Where more animations gives you more ways to play the game, passing freedom and running speeds and above all AI, complete this. Passing feels right, at times. The new freedom makes it possible to make manuel type passes with only the pass button pressed with a certain speed. Although this can work beautifuly, this could be done in earlier versions using the manuel button. Often times however the AI seems to mangle with my judgement at makes corrections to make beautiful passes without me even thinking the option even existed. Other times it screws it up horribly. With the pass button becoming like an manuel button, it has somewhat taken over the through ball button. Through balls often now have become heavily or heavenly AI controlled so it seems. Pushing this button the AI chooses the available space often times rearranging the speed needed to play that perfect through ball. Needless to say this is not total freedom.
The AI though is what bugs me the most in this game. Sure there were some improvements made. Like defenders not running too much out of position and giving space to attackers waiting for the attack to come, but often times it feels like the control is taken away from me since the AI is making decisions for me which takes time and not always for the better. For example in a chaotic situation while defending or in corners certain key players seem to go after their objectives rather then seeing the bigger picture and act accordingly. Player switch stupidness doesnt help either. It doesnt happen often, but it does happen in critical defending situations. After building the pes series so long you would expect they would know how to tackle this. Another thing I find realy weird is the goalkeeper AI. Not so much the savings, cause those are good with an occasional putting the ball right in front an attacker instead of stommping it to the side. Its when you want to resume the play. The goaly can be unresponsive and sometimes kick the ball where I wanted a throw if you wait longer than 3 seconds. Or with a goalkick you can only kick the ball to one defender, whats up with that.
Graphics are good though, some not so worked out players are not so smooth, others that are given attention simply are amazing lifelike. Capturing the spirit of the player perfectly, unlike fifa, who's faces are smoother, but more cartoonish.
Individuality is what makes this game shine though. By realy making Messi or any other player feel like ur playing with the real deal, it somehow magically comes together when putting those players together in a squad. Barca feels and plays like Barca and Spain realy feels and plays like Spain. To get the best results youll have to adjust your playing style accordingly.
Too bad though every option you choose is often times being mangled with through the AI which very much limits the freedom the game is said to be engineered for. This is where pes needs the most work. AI is necessary, but needs to be subtle, almost not noticable. Animation is the other part which needs more work. Totally agree mate.
But Han never said pes was flawless or that it 'wins again' or anything as silly as that. His post was that fifa online is a mess, full of bugs, cheats and lag... and that a little lag in PES online isn't as bad as the mess they made of Fifa onine.
You're the one who went off on one sarcastically posting that PES doesn't have bugs... no not one.. and then listed some. Almost as if Han was out of order for not re listing all the little problems pes has and fifa has and making a side by side comparison to make sure he doesn't offend anyone or misinform anyone who read his post.
Anyone who buys games because of others peoples opinions deserve to get burned when they find they hate the game.
Now, PES does have it's faults... player switching for me being a big one but I found it just as bad in Fifa so I'm screwed either way I go. The difference between the two that pushed me in favour of PES was the passing and being able to aim and get the ball to go where I want on PES much easier and much more often even with the element of error thrown in via stats or my miss aimed miss powered passes. I just preferred the feel of it.
The AI doing slide tackles can be turned off so not an issue, and even if they do give away a foul or anything... hell.. I just go with the flow and enjoy it as that is happening due to AI teammates deciding what to do. They're not mindless shells that only do things when I bark orders at them. My team is 11 men all thinking for themselves and trying their best and half the fun of football games is not getting your own way all of the time... not having everything done for you perfectly each game. So when it does click it feels so much better. When you're winger refuses to make a run for the third time.... it;s not because he's being a nob head. The ai of that man just didn't think it was the right thing to do. not everyone may enjoy that but I love it... I'm not a control freak who needs to have a say in everything. In ML it even adds to the mode as you can justify selling that winger and attempt to find another with a more attacking preference who will run forwards more even when the situation isn't right for a forward run.
If you think otherwise you won't see me calling you a fanboy or biased. That's just how you feel and I respect that.

Now the others problems I had with Fifa were bigger stumbling blocks than the other problems I found with PES. So if I then prefer to play PES and gloss over those problems if someone challenges me with them... that's not fanboyism.. that's me saying 'they're not deal breakers in my opinion'.

No hold on, im not asking for pros and cons on every post, what my post is in response to is those that dig at fifa if anyone dares to have the gaul to criticise pes shortcomings, or suggest fifa is the better game. We then get the knives out over fifas problems whilst glossing over Pes. That guy who posted the 5 points, albeit not in great detail, got jumped on a bit, then the old fifa attacks start to try and justify an arguement.
Maybe i was wrong in quoting Hans post, so apologies for that - but it would be nice to see more balanced opinions in here instead of views based on an almost tribal dedication to one game or the other.
The fifa thread is more balanced, for one i think because it was such a garbage game years ago and has reinvented itself, people can take it at face value and form opinions with none of this tribal dedication to the franchise. Pes doesnt get that because for years, even when the game was a pile of crud, we've had those still dedicated to it sticking to their guns and defending it, so when every new iteration comes along you don't know whether to believe the hype.
Anyway going off on one now. My fifa thoughts are kept to fifa's thread, and various threads that i visit.

Guys, i thought some people not only at evo, but other pes forum always come and say that parts of the game that are not common "according to them" are bugs 
I mean c'mon.. for example:
If that's what bug means i will say 60% of keeper animation are bugs
But hey, that is what konami offer whether from feedback or not. If you ask am i okay with that animation, ill answer okay no problem. It doesn't really ruin what i am looking in this game. period.
Player switching, cpu autotackle... ppl need more time to understand how the game works.
But is greenzone/jogbug a real bug. Then definitely yes
Coz i believe in most users consoles/cpu they will happen everytime when in this situation. also i am quite sure thats not what seabass and co. planned for the gameplay. So waiting for the patch as i heard is being working on. soon or later, its out of my decision.
- Is there something someone's think uncommon with the game, then ask first.
- If no one cannot help and still can not stand the game, go to wherever feedback forums/threads are, put your suggestion there.
- Trade the game if you still dont like it.
- Complaining about what people think as bugs sometimes funny because it might not be a bug and it can not change the engine coding from your BD/disc at the same time LOL

by the way, I am really struggling with this game, even on Professional! I used to play well on Top Player on PES2010, but now on 2011 I'm struggling like hell. Been playing the Copa Libetadores and keep being knocked out in the Play Off Round on Professional :/
Have to say I'm getting really irritated with the player switching and also almost every cross flying miles over the penalty area and out for a throw in on the opposite side of the pitch, wtf is up with that? :/

That's because you're pushing your stick to the far post. Leave it central for penalty spot, or pull back for near post. Had the same problem myself until Rob92 helped me out.

I've haven't tested it with Ribery yet so I may be getting ahead of myself but how do people feel about the dribbling, particularly with wingers?
In the demo it felt great but so far (mainly) MLO I'm not getting the same feeling.

So you do you cross the ball with just a tap of O and then use the left stick to direct the cross far/central/near post area?
I'm too used to having to press into the box and cross just so I don't accidentally kick the ball off for a throw in.

Yea, me too! Didnt know about this new system.
I sometimes mix it up with a manual L3 cross.
For me, the worst thing about the new game is the crossing - I shy away from it now, because you can toss the ball into the box and 9/10 its a clear chance. I'm scoring too many goals from cross->header.

Kinda, yeah. You have to forget about crossing like you would've done normally. The trick is that you don't need to press towards the box like you normally do. Pressing into the box will always be a hard cross towards the far post. Pull away from the box and it goes to the near post.

so if I am on the left wing by the corner flag and I press the L button left to keep running and I tap the O button, its not going to go straight forward and out for a goal kick, is it?

Dribbling is the same technique but there is an awful lot to it and mastering all the techniques will take alot of practice. The better players are obviously easier, but the true skill is nailing it with average players. Rom had it down last night, easily the best dribbling skills I've seen yet, there was alot of things going down which I could appreciate took alot of concentration and skill.
Si I can play later no problem.
I have found an absolute hidden treasure, in fact I have 3 great MLO buys. And cheap.
You need to buy a French DMF called Raineau. He is absolutey outstanding in either a DMF role or SB, he is also left footed with the Passer Player Card. He is quick, agile, beautiful first touch can pass for fun long or short and is lovely to control. All for £700,000.
Also a SMF called Joselito Vaca from Bolivia, fantastic player for the same price. It seems like the Name Search function doesn't work so best finding through their respective countries.

Jimmy, how did you manage to buy a Bolivian (ie an international player)? Is that a MLO thing only, because you can't buy them in normal ML.

I've got a good one. Only played 2 MLO games but won both. 2 clean sheets too.
3 Centre backs. They are spread evenly over the 18 yeard box line, with the middle centre back set as a Sweeper and a nudge deeper than the other 2.
10-15 yards or so above the 2 Centre-Backs are two Defensive midfielders. Need high workrate, and tackling, but crucially the attribute that covers space (not sure of the name as I'm at work). At least one must have this. These are the key players in the formation from what I've seen so far.
Plum in the Centre Circle is one Centre Midfielder- Passing orientated, as he is the link from the back 5 to the front 4
Then 2 Attacking mids, just right and Left of Centre 25 yards out. I aim to have one as a classic "number 10" and one with a bit more penetration, and pace..
Then 2 strikers, as CF's not SS, and have one slightly ahead of the other.
With the squad I've got and formation I use, I have sold every SB, SMF and WF. I have focused firstly on the most important positions for this to work- The DMF's and the CMF- Bought Sergio Busquets for DMF who is great, then Moussa Sissokho for CMF (Will go to DMF soon) and Aldo Duscher for the other DMF (He's not ideal, so when i get a passing orientated CMF, the midfield will get rejigged)
Also the romantic in me has eyes on Riquelme for the slightly left sided AMF position
Try it, and see how you get on. I've not once been exploited by width as the DMF's cover across, and if a ball is crossed in, I have 3 Centre backs and 1/2 DMF's in there too. More than enough to deal with.

I was struggling with this as well. Going to try that out tonight. I'm actually clock watching. I want to get home and try out Riquelme alongside D'Alessandro in my ML team.

The new system is good, but a little fiddly especially when my current technique seems to be effective enough... see below.

on most of my crosses to get them mid-height near the penalty area unless I see someone running onto the ball in which case I treble tap for a low driven cross.Anyone have any other tips on taking free kicks? I get the controls, i.e. hitting

after pressing shoot to affect the power on the shot, but I always hit the wall or sky it trying to dip it over the wall. Also, any tips on where I should be aiming? I always thought aiming in between the defenders heads or over the shortest guy in the wall would work. I've also tried aiming to the side, but that just takes it away from goal

This is a little flaw with the transfer system. Basically, a players value is based on his overall stat in his favoured position. A LOT of my players I bought by ordering by player position and looking for players not with my search position as their prefered, but with suitable stats. My CB's are an SB and a DM, one of my CF's is a WNG and one of my SMF is an AMF. The only spots without much benefit are DM-CM as the stats required are very similar.
