PES 2011 Discussion thread

Cardboard football.

Gameplay is based on the exact same 1990s engine that powered ISS Pro Evo.

13 years on, no new ideas at all....lmfao.....utterly abismal... :(

This game is pathetic beyond belief....yet is still marginally better than FIFA, which makes it the best footie game available :( .....FUCK

Its tailored for a specific target audience, you are obviously not part of that demographic. If you can't appreciate it in it's current form then the effort to produce a simulation of football is criminally wasted on you.

hi, does anyone know how to put pes 2011 fifa commentary patch onto
usb cos i put it on using extaf explorer and when i go onto my usb
it says corrupt.please someone help

i have no idea on earth what game your playing but the dribbling and trapping engine is totally different in this game then any other in the series, l trigger on xbox is a dribbling shielding action tha never exisited in the series, using rb to get your man off his balance and beat him with lb speed dribble is fantastic, using right trigger to do moves that throw off the opponents balance as well. Crossing needs work and the ref.. but other then that this is the best footie game i have ever played and it is nothing like the old games....

Does anyone know why I can't change the "on-the-fly" attack/defense (Select + R1/R2) focus on Master League?

Have you selected 'simple settings' from the management edit screen before the match? i believe certain aspects of this allow the cpu to decide tactics and attack/defense levels for you automatically, therefore you cant change them in game ?

Also does anyone have any joy with using the L1 chip shot?
i've had a few 1 on 1's where the keeper has been off his line or a shot from distance where ive attempted a lob and no matter how much i power up the gauge, the shot ends up as a feeble, mis direct soft low trajectory (waist height) little flop shot.
Never actually seen a proper dinked chip goal in PES 11.

I've hit a handful of little dinks over the keeper and 1 L1 chip. the L1 chips are tougher as unless the keeper is out of position he either saves it or your player puts the shot just wide etc.

Also to the guy saying 1 on 1's are hard. The slightest of button taps generally results in a nice placed shot without having to use R2. And if you have the 1 on 1 finisher card then it just looks lovely ;)

It's very easy to overhit the shots from close range. Timing is everything. Also, I find that pushing the stick after I've loaded the power gauge is good for placing the ball left or right of the keeper instead of holding direction AS I press shoot. Or does it not matter?

I'll try that.

The logic in BAL (and ML) needs serious work for 2012, first game of the season playing as Eden Hazard and Mavuba is only on the bench and Gervinho didn't even make the bench.

im loving this game even more. currently doing master league with arsenal.

i was playing against west brom and this team played quick one touch passing! i was surprised but they couldnt muster a shot on goal as there quality in there final ball wasnt great plus my defence was awsome.

i was winning 1:0 after they gifted me an early goal but on the 90+min the ref gave a silly soft pen outside the box! west brom scored with a shot that had little pace yet still beat almunia!

after that whistle blown, full time. was well gutted

does anyone know a way to stop your defenders seemingly run up the pitch
especially the ones not under your control i am fed up of my spurs central defenders deciding to run up the pitch as my online opponent is about to thread a pass through its so fustrating that the players under ai contol on your team seemingly have no idea where the ball is in relation to them sometimes they run away from it.
also at some point during some matches online its as tho i have no control of my players its as tho the cpu is controling the outcome of the match. today i played a game and was 3-0 down after 15mins my players appeared sluggish ones not under my direct control seemed to just stand still and not move anyone else expierenced this before?
i do like the game alot but some days it just seems unplayable in that its so fustrating with the AI and the crap player switching.

I have 1 question about the tactics in the game. Theres a so called swap wings tactic...but as i experienced this is just wont work. The SMFs or Wingers never change sides during the matches. Is it an auto tactic isnt? Then why wont work (for me)?

I think it means switching the ball from one side to the other. Not the actual wingers, but I am not sure.

The latest winter-transfer-DLC changed gameplay for the better. I guess they finally fixed a lot of stats or something, cause now I can play with Barcelona and Madrid and other top-teams and it feels like them, ie. control of the players is great and combinations work.

Before the DLC-update I played with Barcelona and it was like playing with a no-name-team, mediocre or even bad ball-control and combinations seldomly worked.

Even smaller teams like Australia have now better control, the players aren't as sluggish anymore and they don't lose ball so quickly...

It still has the same animation-transition-, physics and awareness-problems (espescially the goalkeepers can drive you mad and loose-ball-situations) but make of it what you want: Since the latest update I'm massively enjoying PES 2011, playing it on xbox360 with widecam, top-player and -1-speed.

Didn't really notice much difference. Hmm. Finding playing online a real irritant, gameplay takes a noticable dive, whether because of lag or becuase of play style.

Continually coming up against the frustration of the bizarrely slow 'quick players'. Walcott will actively lose ground against any defender - why do both FIFA/PES have such ridiculous movement penalties or am I missing something?

Sprinting is slow, and even knocking the ball on doesn't help much. It seems to be used to make up for defensive AI to a large extent - I'm tired of having quick players 10 yards ahead of the play to find myself tackled as I turn to shoot.

Placebo effect mate!!! or maybe you changed the way you play the game slightly!?
As no single stat was changed in the recent DLC, just as it said on the tin - new kits, new boots and roster updates.
Its quite weird though. recently my PS3 suffered the Yellow light of death and had to buy a new console... after id recopied all my data across from the old one, playing PES felt brand new, i felt better response, more fluid game play etc and as a result am thoroughly enjoying my ML campaign at the moment whereas before, on the old console was considering giving up on PES 11.
Make of that what you will but i severely doubt it has anything to do with the new DLC. As i said I am enjoying betetr games and I havent even updated to the new DLC yet.

I don't think it's placebo cause I was playing PES 2011 nearly every day before the DLC-update and thought all the time it was an ok-game, nearly good but far from great and a day before the update I played with Barcelona and Real Madrid and they were nothing like their real-life-versions.

But bam right after the DLC ( the game asked me if it should update stats, I said yes cause I didn't use any downloaded OF's anyway and didn't tinker with the stats before so..) the game felt different, way different, not the animation-transitions, the inferior physics but the flow of the game got better due to better control of the players, I can now dribble real nice with most of the players and they can hold on to the ball better.
With these improvements Barcelona mutated into the tour-de-force it is in real-life and Real Madrid plays very elegant now. And even smaller teams, though not as elegant and strong as these, play now better, their players can dribble better...

The best thing though is that I feel a joy with the game right now I never had with it before and that I never had with Fifa 11, that I think is superior due to better animation/physics/awareness..

Konami changed something with the dribbling and control of the players, probably just the stats of the players but it worked wonders, highly enjoying it with widecam and normal long at speed -1 and top-player on xbox360.

If they could fix the animation/physics-engine, put in more aware AI (espescially with the goalkeepers and regarding loose-ball-situations) for PES 2012, it would be pure bliss.

Well in the online games I had last night I seemed to get more out of my average team than previously. Not sure if it was the formation or what but they seemed to move better, dribble and pass with less restriction. It might be the connection was running with less lag so it appeared more responsive. Either way it was great. Let's hope it stays the same :)

Hy guys. I have one problem on PS3!

I update my PES 11 on 7.00 pack and it's fantastic, but, in Brazilian NT i don't have one player. It's Ronaldinho miss.. I have TWO FERNANDINHO, BUT NO RONALDINHO. How to fix it?

I think i found. The player name is Romanedino in fanshop.

I noticed something last night too - I have data pack 7 and I thought I had applied the edit data but Torres is still at Liverpool and not at Chelsea. Doesn't look like any changes were made.

Do I need to re-download the DLC and do something differently??

Another question if anyone can help...but it's a PC related question for anyone who also has the game on PC. I have PES 11 on the Xbox 360 but am taking forever to edit a league I want to use for offline play only. Can someone assist me please?

I want to install PES 11 on PC and then update with an option file that gives me the correct EPL teams (names and kits) and possibly install the commentary and gameplay patches. I also want an editor to edit player names & stats, team emblems and kits with.

Can someone point me to the right spot/s in these threads or give me a link to the relevant tools?

Also wanted to know if I will be able to run the game through Linux. I currently run Windows XP with an older graphics card 6600GT but am going to install Puppy Linux also and use that where I can. I will try the demo first to see if the game runs ok with my graphics card....it might struggle.

thanks in advance guys
Frank

I have to give Konami a big pat on the back for the inclusion of the Uefa Super Cup. I won the Champions League with Ajax in an awesome game against Liverpool and the second game next season was against Valencia, Europa League winners for the Super Cup. They had the atmosphere down to the smallest detail. The intro took ages to load, but then the team captains walked to the field holding their respective Cups, and then in game there was even the official match ball. Only thing that didn't quite match up was the commentary, which seemed to suggest at the end of the game that this was an even bigger cup than the CL one.

PES offers a fanastic offline experience IMO. theymay not have fully licence leagues for lower divisions but if your happy to experience just the top flight football of a season, this game does it best

Lets just hope its not another Mo-Cap video featuring Messi dribbling, stating pure fluid freedom of movement when in fact it doesn't look anything like that in game!!! and we cant even have the freedom to take kick off ourselves.

Guys - any ideas on why my offline squads haven't seemed to update the latest transfers but they seemed to be there online when I played a friendly game against a mate via community mode. Do the offline squads store separately because of the option file I am running?

I've been playing this game for months now and this silly feature still catches me out occasionally.
