My sentiments exactly at the moment.
Pressure whores, with lag and default players is a recipe for an amazingly high level of frustration.
Another thing I'm getting annoyed with is the inability of players to play a ball first time if it's a situation where the cpu doesn't expect you to get it. I'm not sure how many times I've lost possession this way, but sometimes even a second press of a button wont even bring up the power bar, you have to change direction first. Not good.
Yep, eventually in later PS2 incarnations you committed to a tackle more with the pressure didn't you, so it encouraged a mix of closing down, nicking the ball at the right time and knowing when to jostle a bit more.
It's probably an online issue to tell the truth. That little bit of latency means your player doesn't animate at the right time to draw them in.
A lot of the fighting games i play online can be affected by these little timing issues, move properties change a tad when enough lag is introduced to change how the game works somewhat.
I know L2 dribbling does draw the mistakes from the AI and offline opponents, introduce that bit of lag and they probably close you down easier.
A definite "commit" block tackle would be nice, maybe tackling from the R2 stance for example, balancing attacker vs defender as you can either stop one in their tracks or be left looking foolish depending on the various PES factors.
