I got £500,000 for getting eliminated in the semi-finals, not bad!

I had a nightmare in my Competition last night with the best being W1 D1 L1. Pathetic, but justified. I had my new team out and got punished for having a terrible defence that I rectified after the Competition had finished. I earned a poxy £30,000 for my troubles, I almost felt like telling Konami to keep the fucker.

After the Competition had finished and I made 3 sweeping changes to my team, I then started to play some of the best football yet, typical. I should never have broken up my Saurez and Jeda partnership, and releasing Raineau to fund Riquelme was my biggest managerial mistake yet. I felt like the Leed's manager 2 years after he let Eric go.

You live and learn.

On a different note, I drew Chievo Verona in the PEEL live draw last night, so I'm Italy bound for my new Domestic season on PEEL. I know nothing of this team, but will get them on the training ground and see what I have to work with. Anybody that knows anything about Chievo speak up, I could do with a little heads up.

Re: offside goals

Anybody scored offside goals, which were awarded a goal?

I did. I have no problem with this, just would like to know if it's a bug or an additional layer of realism.

I do like. Also, that not every dive is awarded yellow card / or free kick

My mate was messing about with the preset feints with his keeper the other night and kept doing 'dives' with him. It made me smile to see that keepers are exempted from receiving a Yellow Card from 'diving' for obvious reasons.

played the game now for about a week every night and some things are really nerve-wrecking:

1. CPU controlled players don't attack about 20 meters from their own goal when coming via the wings

2. penalty system is awful

3. automatic replay after EVERY foul is totally useless

4. fouls from players of my own team who i don't controll myself

5. when defending sometimes i can't switch to the appropriate player

6. when stopped, players can't be controlled for almost 2 seconds

7. CPU fouls and referee doesn't whistle

8. can't play AGAINST a friend in cup mode

apart from that, pes2011 is the best PES game on the PS3: i hope they better up some things for next year and maybe, hopefully in a few years time we could get a game as good as PES6

With the option files how do you get logo/emblems on shorts and socks? I can see the chest logo but not the others.

Ok guys what option file should I get... no stats changing... and do I always need to uninstall the dlc packs before? If something is coming up where I don't need to do that I am quite happy to wait, having enough fun in my Italy league for now (bles 21)

Now who want info about where the ball went? Instead you can appreciate the goalkeeper/strikers effort.

Okay Konami decided to show cutscene after every event. Then atleast show it with good cam angles.

AI's indirect freekicks seriously sucks!! Either they give the ball to me or overpower so that no one gets.

Wow, Top Player AI is very inconsistent. Playing a Champions League campaign as Arsenal, I struggled badly in the quarters against Lyon and only progressed on away goals after a crazy 4-3 win, only for me to beat Barcelona 7-0 on aggregate in the semis thanks to a 5-0 win at home

Of course my form arrows for the final are completely shit, this game is so confusing at times...

Just beat a guy with a team full of stars in Div 5, felt very satisfying, went 1-0 with a Miranda rocket and scored a 2nd with a header from a short free-kick. Players tired big time in the 2nd half, and he scored to make it 2-1 or rather I scored an own goal from a drilled cross. Was very nerve-wracking till the final whistle, but I pulled off the victory.

Strange that, I beat Barca 6-2 on Agg. with United in the CL I played as the the first thing I did when I got the game. I beat them 4-1 in the Camp Nou as well, with the dodgy form arrows and everything.

In the group stages Rangers came to Old Trafford and beat me 2-1, in a game I couldn't even get a grasp on. They totally outplayed me and only a last minute Van Der Sar header was my consolation.

Football is a strange game.

Oh how satisfying!

Just played a guy who scored first due to some lovely player changing defensive ping pong on the edge of the box before the ball dropped to his striker and he slotted home, of course watching the entire celebration and both goal replays as if they were the best things ever.
So I decided to watch every replay in full for the rest of the match, every little niggly foul, every stupid scuffed shot, everything!

It was all the better when he got to watch the 3 full celebrations and replays of my goals too, ending in a 3-1 win to Udinese.

Game is awesome, this is the best PES. playing off line ML with sochaux, so many great bits of individuality. Cant get the OF to work..... need to figure that out but i should wait till there is one out with all the french stadia.. i have noticed the form arrows have to do with home and away for me.. which is understandable...

must say, really satisfied with the way ml online works, it feels like you get rewarded for playing football and rightly punished 9/10 for your mistakes, only problem i've had so far is its still a bit laggy and i keep getting put against people with lampard rooney etc in there team
i bought marcellis(if thats his name, plays for dutch team) for cb as he was kinda cheap and does quite good job, enoh as a holding midfielder, only played a game with him so unsure if he will fit or not also danny as hes very good on the ball and can play few positions and i bought this striker/winger, i can't remember his name but he was cheap and is fairly quick, one question though, how does the cup work? everytime i try to enter one, it always says message like its unavailable at the moment or something

Animations and the general fluidity of the game needs to be much improved still, hopefully they can make the same strides as they did this year on that front. The player switching needs sorting as that's a major issue, should add it to the R3 button like FIFA which helps a lot.

I also reckon the demo had much less pressuring and the referee gave fouls accordingly which has been toned down for some reason in the retail which needs sorting. The collision system is pretty crap at the moment really and that needs to be improved.

The trick system also is MASSIVELY flawed and really needs to be redone, Vidic performing roulette's and Ronaldo's responsiveness of it is the same as League 2 goalkeeper for performing them, the better players need to have improved response times for tricks.

if they can improve all that and iron out the bugs 2012 will be awesome (not that this isn't a good game, its very good)

Still waiting on the WENB Option File this week - with added Championship to Division 2 so I can start my Master League!

I wonder if any of this can be patched into this release?

Being a bit cynical regarding the whole "it's a business" approach to gaming i suspect any potential game-play tweaks won't make it until PES 2012 as i'm sure patching is a lot of work, and it's only worth doing if you get paid for it again, but, that sort of support for the fans would go a long way in my opinion.

One thing, if they tighten up some of the stuff on this version for example, then that's job done and it's a case of expanding and building on the gameplay and the presentation for future versions, instead of fixing and fine tuning.

Imagine perhaps a PES 2011 patch half-way down the line in this versions life that really does fine tune the gameplay, and how that would whet our appetite for the next iteration come October 2011 .

Perhaps there are technical obstacles to this, but presumably the primary one is a financial concern, but again i'm thinking in terms of things being a stepping stone. PES 2011 v.2.0 just setting the stall out and showing us why we're going to want to shell out another £30 or so in another 12 months

Take for instance the green zone or "jog"-bug. if you reach a certain point on the wings, you have a 99% chance of getting in a cross. This could probably be tightened but there are still many who find little reason to complain about this so Konami might just let it go. And if they did try to fix it, know their track record (too many fouls in the demo went straight to too few) they would probably take it too far in the opposite direction and you would get bulldozed by three players from all angles if you even went close to the wings. But Jon Murphy said that the team was looking into this issue (and likely others) so it will be interesting to see if they try to make any gameplay changes.

I know that is an issue but for me the crossing system is very poor in this game and the green zone issue only exacerbates it. Crossing simply goes against Kopnami's whole engineered for freedom expression. It's not a negative point as such but i don't get why for a game that invested pretty heavily in putting in power bars for most things they simply did not bother to alter the crossing.

I'm not necessarily saying that the crossing system needs power bars but it does need an overhaul in some way. Crossing doesn't take into account any factors like position of the ball, position of the player, angles or speed. When do you ever really mishit or under-power a cross. You can over-power a cross but it seems arbitrary. It's just too easy to cross the ball at any given circumstance when on the wing.

I've read on here about people getting pretty pissed off from conceding from crosses constantly (or scoring too often) and i can understand their annoyance.

Fouls wise i'm not really having a problem either. L2 running especially with a decent enough dribbler tends to draw a few out i find because L2 dribbling chooses little extra animations at times to wrong foot the opposition (even without R3 use). I like this addition and it's netted me more goals and helped me play better in my second ML season, as taking players on works a lot better with this close control.

Overall i'm enjoying PES a lot, i do like the challenge Top Player can dish out and i don't feel i have to play as one-dimensional vs the AI as i would on previous versions. The laziness of defenders on the wing does need addressing though.

Player switching just plain pisses me off sometimes heh. It's exasperating to watch your defenders have a nightmare even when on paper you're doing it right, sometimes there's a period where there doesn't seem to be an in-game action you can do to prevent a chance on goal.
The old Semi-Auto method would go a long way to dealing with this.

A touch more responsiveness in some cases wouldn't hurt. On occassion i've been caught in possession, especially after trapping a high-ball, and not been able to play it off because you're sort of stuck in an animation. Even if it would let you do a more "panic-ed " lay-off, that's better and more realistic than not doing anything at all.

Finally a bit more, "Ooompf" when the big fella is trying to win the ball, balance that with deftly skipping past a defender or having the same defender left for dead.
Incorporate collision and a heightened sense of momentum, complete with force feedback when these tussles occur. Add this in and you could really capture the physical aspect of the game as well as the finesse part.

One thing i would love to see in a PES game is an animation where you're running full pelt (or have a burst of acceleration) and take a knock or slip, but steady yourself by pushing yourself back off the pitch with one hand before playing the ball off or collapsing in a heap (or both). I don't think it does this does it?

Once they start building on the engine and replicating the "feel" of the real game even more, then that would leave them free to play around with the little touches that enhance the atmosphere.

My sentiments exactly at the moment.

Pressure whores, with lag and default players is a recipe for an amazingly high level of frustration.

Another thing I'm getting annoyed with is the inability of players to play a ball first time if it's a situation where the cpu doesn't expect you to get it. I'm not sure how many times I've lost possession this way, but sometimes even a second press of a button wont even bring up the power bar, you have to change direction first. Not good.

No, it's not just timing. Some of the decisions are utterly random, not even mimicking human referee error.

I think you and Skebaal have basically just identified that there's something not right with Barca's Formation/tactics!

Noticed Sergio Busquets isn't set as a DM anymore, maybe that's why they are so easy to score against!

Also why are poeple struggling so much vs Pressure whores, i really don't see them as a issue. Just pass it around and not hold the left stick much, they normally move their defenders out of position, makes them easy to beat!

In fairness once they go behind, they pile forward so much it's not that difficult to catch them on the break and have 3v2 or even 4v2 at times from the halfway line onwards. If you're clinical you can tear them apart.

Oddly enough, ever since I posted, I've noticed the problem. Had not really paid attention. There are some inconsistent calls. Its now getting annoying, now that I am looking for it. I've definetly touched the ball first and then the player in a typical clean tackle, but get called for it. Then the exact same tackle does not get called at all. Really weird reffing.

What really annoys me is the player switching issue, i was playing OL and the ball was passed back to my defender and the idiot runs away from the ball and they score. ( farking caaant ) Some of the tackles seem a little silly with the same animations over again. But that being said this game has put me off Fifa this year, i had a go on Fifa today the first time since 8th October and i just craved to get back to PES. I am lucky to have two decent footie games this year.
