PES 2011 Discussion thread

Tried playing last night with my mic on and all I kept getting was weird static in the background. It was almost as if I could hear bits from other peoples games as every so often there would be a little snapshot of someone talking to each other. Hard work.

Same issue in FIFA 11 mate

Super Street Fighter 4 does this with more than 2 people in a lobby, in the case of that game it's an issue exclusive to PSN as Live lobbies have no problem with everyone chatting within.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH today announced the content of its first DLC for PES 2011, which will be available on 12th October.

Available free to PlayStation(R)3, Xbox 360 and PC-DVD users, the download will bring the player roster files completely up to date, while clubs that qualified for the UEFA Champions League Group Round, will be added to the game’s dedicated mode. A number of team kits have also been updated in line with their current use, and four more licensed boots have been incorporated.

The DLC also includes three new wallpapers featuring cover star Lionel Messi in the ‘Extra Content’ folder, and KONAMI will be releasing further updates during the coming year.

Has anyone played the early European reviewers copy from a few weeks ago and compared it to the the original. Any difference?

Gerd, Muller and Khedira are in the Germnay squad in my copy of the game. Weird.

So i played a game last night and one quick bit of training this morning to work out the basic feints.

My game was Brescia vs AC Milan. I lost 0-2, but noticed a few things.

1. I had too much possession, despite losing. I would have thought Milan would have bossed the possession, but no. This doesn't matter too much. It just looks a bit strange when you look at the stats.

2. Playing switching. As discussed, it's a bit erratic, particulalry when defending. It cost me my first goal.

3. Not many fouls called, although i didn't feel too cheated. When my men were blatantly brought down, they were called.

I did have opportunities to score, or even draw level. Alas my finishing was not up to scratch. I performed a nice quick break or two, but my efforts were either saved, off the post, or indeed missed altogether.

I do like the pace of the game and playing Serie A games feels quite realistic. You have to search out the opportunities and break down defences patiently. I played Milan with Brescia's default 3 at the back. Had i gone with a 4-5-1, i'm sure i would have been tougher to break down.

All in all, looking forward to getting the file sorted (names, kits etc) and getting started.

Had the game since yesterday on the PS3 and LOVE IT.

I am a bit baised as I don't mind admitting that I am a bit of a PES fanboy, although PES2008 and PES2009 were poor games. I thought that PES2010 despite it's fault was at it's core a decent game.

So onto PES2011, loved the demo but stopped playing it a week ago in anticipation of this. I think that retail code has improved over the demo code, the passing is now even better, shooting feels superb and playing on top player I have to really work for my goals. The emphasis seems to me is that in this game you have to be patient, it is sometimes like a chess match, where you have to work out what the weaknesses of the opposition are. It is also good to see that the game doesn't reward "speed whores".

The only real issue that I am currently having is player switching (weirdly I didn't experience this in the demo). On the PS3 version it seems to be erratic, this causing problems because defensively when it has happened it has cost me goals. I am hoping that the issue can be resolved by a patch, as it has the pontential to ruin some aspects of the game.

Online for me is fine, played three games last night and all of them were lag free, the big test will come over the weekend when there are more people online.

Great news about the DLC, once that hits and I can get a option file then I will start my master league!

Well done to Konami, PES11 is a superb game, I hope that they can sort out the player switching issue.

Yeah I think I'll work my way round it, until I can get all the kits and squads sorted out (obviously relying on some good person from here to do the update of kits etc).

Can't wait to pick my baby up tonight (no not the daughter or the wife.................). :p

can someone help me...how is it possible to create an offline community league (between 3 friends) without penalties at the end of the matches if they are draw???

Jim Beglin is better, wasn't hard to beat Lawro though. The little "OH!" comments when a goal goes in though, both terrible & comical, typical PES commentary!

Loving the little touches in the game. The things you notice every so often. Losing 2-1 to Real Madrid in the CL final with Spurs was cushioned with the fact Pavlyuchenko was coming out with nice animations as my midfielders searched for the killer pass. Claps of appreciation when a through-ball over the top nearly got him in. Ducking down when his knock-back to the D set up Huddlestone for a piledriver. Having more joy with Pavlyuchenko than Crouch, must be the style I play. Defoe, Keane & the Giraffe on the bench every game.

I can't stand Beglin, I really can't. Hate him commentating on live matches on TV, it's like torture having him in PES now :(

Won't be long before I switch to a different language.

I used to love patching my PS2 Pro Evo games with the commentary from FIFA.

Doubt that will be happening any time soon on the PS3, though. Especially as it's not modded.

I'll just be updating the Spurs team tonight, with van der Vaart and the gang. Then having a blast with that until the option files arrive.

Oh, and importing all my chants.

Has anyone been able to score or even hit a tomahawk-Cristiano Ronaldo freek kick type ? You know like it was shown in the trailer

As in Master League Online Community...? That will be awesome for making local groups (for us Aussies who may get lag for example)

No mate its comunity mode I.E you and 32 other people can become members of a community and play eachother in friendlies, cups or league games

The PS3 is modded and there is modded versions of PES out there too

I did the same last night Scutch adding in Rafa for my Champions League campaign :BOP: and even dropping Daws and Defoe for added realism

Nope, not tried with him anyway but when on the training ground with Bale, I managed to pull off some rockets that nearly went in, using that method of tapping shoot again as the ball is hit. Didn't work a lot, but a couple of times I saw that crazy swerve come into effect.

Could somebody tell me if the PES League teams appear in the ML? I understand the D2 teams are indeed in D2, but what of the PES League teams? Is it a third division?

And it looks like you can swap clubs in those two divisions, in edit mode.

Right, we can't import pngs for 360.
But is there a way to make the front of the kit manually in game?

Haha, I've been doing that on the PC version. Had Pav on penalty duty too and I become prone to firing crazy passes across my own box when BAE is on the ball.

Well done to Konami, PES11 is a superb game, I hope that they can sort out the player switching issue.

[The part in bold] I'm experiencing the same player switching issues when it comes to last ditch defending and clearing the ball in the box. Sometimes I have player right next to their attacker who could easily make the tackle to either put him off or win the ball and I simply cannot switch to him - by which time he's blasted the ball into the back of my net.

It's the same on corners as well. Generally, I can clear the ball and get up for the header in enough time, but if it goes to my back post or it scrambles in my box it's a nightmare trying to switch to the right player to make a challenge - I end up just holding the keeper rush button/or spamming clearance and hoping for the best.

I wonder whether the solution is to put it on full manual player switching and just get used to switching everytime?

Other than that, I can't fault the game - it has everything.

I tried full manual in the demos and it was a lot of work and wasn't 100% either. Anyone having trouble getting rid of control of the goalies. I was getting beaten up on corners so played around with the notion of controlling the goalie. It's working a bit better but I am having trouble getting back control of the field players. Banging on L1 doesn't seem to work all the time.

So is this worth buying? I havent played PES on the PS3 much since it went downhill from 2009 - 2010. In fact i purchased PES 2010 but probably played 1 hour max sinced i have owned it. This year i was only going to buy Fifa 2011 but i keep on reading decent reports of the game so can anyone provide me with an honest opinion to this game? I thought the demo was ok but felt the players were rather sluggish.
