PES 2011 Discussion thread

why no xbox league?

Good question, possibly because the site founder has only ever owned a Sony Playstation. The site is full of typical 'Old Skool' PES players, everyone of them, and I think Playstation is the heart of PES if truth be told.

Hopefully in time, an Xbox League can be initiated. :)

The video posted up there by Spooky looked really good. The pace of the players was much better with Corinthians and Sao Paolo than you see with the big European clubs.

Any videos showing any other camera angles? All I'm seeing is widecam players.

fair enough mate :))

I just noticed the rules, why cutbacks are not allowed? :CONFUSE: what kind of cutbacks are they? something like this http://learnsoccerfreestyle.blogspot.com/2008/08/cut-back.html ?

what's wrong with that trick?

Thats a Cruyff Turn. A Cutback, is running to the byline, drawing out the keeper, then passing it square or back for an easy tap-in with the goalkeeper helpless.

It was a glitchy cheap goal in PES 5,6,2008,2009,2010. To be fair, it takes alot more skill to do this in PES 2011.

Anyone seen the ign review? pes got a 9. I found it funny though. He said he prefered it to fifa 11. So why did pes 11 only get a 9 when fifa 11 got a 9.5

have you watched the way arsenal play? most of their goals are through cutbacks. what's wrong with being unselfish and laying it on for a team-mate. i have never got this idea of it being a cheap trick. if you think its a trick, then learn to defend against it somehow. rush out your keeper or something. but it's a valid goal to me. i play in that way in real-life too.

Don't be silly. You can't rush your keeper out to block the striker who is being passed to. The keepers run TOWARDS THE BALL, which will mean he will run from front goal post to the corner flag leaving the entire goal open for a cheap goal. Even if you press the keeper out after the pass has been made, the keepers chase the ball, not the intended target man. so he will chase after the ball again leave the goals open for a cheap goal.

Even if you don't bring your keepers out, the keepers automatically cover their front post. AI controlled defenders don't pick up the forwards that well meaning it's still too easy to pass it to them and then tap the ball into the goal from point blank range.

It's a valid goal in the sense that the ball crosses the line - and that it happens in real life. But the actual means of scoring it... exploiting the AI means that it's not a sporting goal.

Another "what could have been", match.

I'm not sure why Harry didn't play Van der Vaart, he was made for a role behind the front two. Palacios is in crap form recently, I'd rather play Livermore, why take Bale off for him, for fuck's sake. Some nice play from Crouch, but Defoe was well off the mark today. Lennon, ineffective again, perhaps he needed his blingin' cap, ai?

Pavlyuchenko got two the other night, why not bring him on after an hour? Sometimes Harry you make me facepalm.
Don't tell me this wasn't real.

I think the main question is why is this game having 9/10 which I think is a fair review and in other sites is getting 6's and 7's...someone's not seeing the facts here...

FIFA 11 get's the 9.5 because of sound and licenses...I kind of agree with that but I prefer the PES gameplay over Fifa's then to me that 9.5!! it's way over the top...

Cutbacks wont be as easy for pes 11 which is good.

does anyone else think the logic level of people in the gaming community and industry has dropped since this generation? that edge review to me looks like its been written by a narrow minded snob and sorry for going off topic for a moment but there is a excellent title released next week called Enslaved, its getting great reviews yet the comment sections are shitting on it, "its not a uncharted, no buy" etc etc.

i seriously feel bewildered with the gaming community, you cant talk to people about things you like anymore without trolls, casual haters, casual ignorants, pricks, bellends, nobheads, fattys with a chip on their shoulder (no pun intended) and so forth. was anyone actually surprised by some of the critical remarks in the reviews? not anymore i'm not.

Such a good post and so true.

As for the edge,i gave up reading that editorial years ago as there to obssessed with the latest tech to ever consider the values of gameplay and enjoyment and are happy to dish out tens to pretty much anything nintendo and bungie throw out regardless of the fact that nintendo and bungie have been flogging pretty much the same template and dynamic for the last god knows how many years in zelda, mario, halo and dont start me off on that mass market pap call of duty..that just copied valves counter strike and sold the idea to the masses.

This is for me the difference between fifa and pes, fifa is the call of duty of the football world, excessible and a game that waters down the most important factors, realism, when pes2011 is like counter strike, which prides itself on its weapons ballistics, realism and weapon recoil rates much as pes does its individuality and personality of the players without forgetting the enjoyment factor.

Its the same with halo reach, massively overated for what is fundamentally a recycling of the best ideas from that series over the last ten years, plus that game shipped with the most appalling frame rate issues that i never read one reviewer point out.

Who cares anyway,we the hardcore and football purists are loving pes2011,i couldnt give a rats arse what some ponsy english literature graduate thinks of a game with there fancy wording and self indulgent crap, who got into football when it became fashionable.

Pes2011 is the bomb.

I'm impressed with this video! It's CPU vs CPU :CONFUSE: I could tell ONLY) from the lack of colour blur around the players. In 1 player or 2 layer matches there's always some sort of blur *green or red* Around the names, if there's no blur it's the CPU!
YouTube - PES 2011 - Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur
Fuck it looked like 2 human players were playing!

Apparently this game is robotic :LMAO:

It's easy to get cynical about certain transitions but one huge thing everyone forgets is how deep this game is and the almost unlimited amount of things which can occur and happen. Certian things i see even in that video it's hard to get everything to be so silky smooth without compromising the game.

Agreed Jimmy, i have only found myself in this position once so far on the demo because gameplay dictated it but even then it took a well placed ball to score. You could just tell that it was a split timing pass that made it successful, and usually this window of opportunity would only last a fraction of a second.

People are getting confused. IGN UK gave FIFA 11 a 9.5. IGN US gave FIFA 11 an 8.5 and PES 2011 a 9.0. Also the current Metacritic average for PES 2011 (PS3) is 82/100. Not that it really matters.

Didn't people said you couldn't assign created stadiums to (unlicensed) teams? Because I can... I'm on the PC.

Yep, someone figured out that you don't press a button to select the stadium but just exit the screen to select it.

Damn it's boring reading all this rubbish about reviews...

Anyone would think people care more about getting a good review than a good game.

Yawn
