PES 2011 Discussion thread

Word of warning do not give me a free kick under 45 meters with the right player I will tear you a new one be warned all those that are going to be meeting me online.
I love to chat but I am starting to enjot Chivas with a Zeemeistered formation....can this DEMO be so ridiculously enjoyable, anyway stupid trailer should be finish...later

I have been a FIFA player for the last 24 hours, the ease at which I could play the football I liked seduced me and I Even went through a period where I thought that I would buy it instead of PES, not any more.
It has to be one of the most boring games ever created, every match is the same, no matter what teams I use, who I play, its like a carbon copy of every other game I played before it. I pass the ball around as much as I like, easily keeping possession, press into the final 3rd, score, miss or get tackled and hold down X to get the ball back(unless they spin around me) and then start the cycle again. Thats it, minute after minute, game after game, Always the same. I played as Leverkusen against Barca on top difficulty and had 70 percent possession in the first half and could attack at will.

Its a total arcade game and as such it is fun for a while but lacks any depth or long term replayability, I am bored after a day!

I never remember games having the same feel in the PES demo. I have dominated first halves in terms of possession and shots and then got ripped apart in the 2nd. I have played games where I find it hard to get the ball out of midfield. I have had games where I cant put passes together and constantly get hit on the break. Games where I keep possession but cant break them down and get beat by a cheeky goal. You are always kept on your toes with PES. I would think is down to the condition arrows and that the teams play differently. I could not tell if the cpu varied its play with the different teams in FIFA because it never had the ball long enough!

It might play OK online but I think there will be exploits again that ruin things. The holding X to get the ball will get abused as it did last year, but then you can always counter this by doing a roulette around the player, I got sick of seeing the CPU do that and there will be greater frequency of it online im sure.

So after 1 day of FIFA I know where my moneys being spent this year, on a game that will keep me busy until the next.

That's how FIFA has always been but because PES has been so shitty the last few years there's really been no other option but to play it.. I wouldn't say this years iteration is arcadey, the pace is spot on on slow just like PES is on -1 but u never get that feeling that you get when playing pro evo...
All people seem to care about is licenses and that's why FIFA will always sell more copies but who really gives a rats arse when you can create some of the most stunning OF's out there!

This is actually what it is. PES games are always different - even if you play with the same teams several matches in a row.

I am also playing Chivas - and your dear D'Alessandro scored a FK against me which left me looking at the screen in astonishment. He sent it above the wall, and then the ball dipped to the bottom corner of the goal, with the keeper missing it by pixels. Loved it.

Then I scored back from my first FK goal in the demo, with Baez :)

Can't wait to go home and play more. What really bothers me is having to reset the tactics and feints every single match, or having to endure that long movie... Sigh. Such a bad move, Konami... You torture me :)

Paulo Tavares

Games still amazing after a week of playing. im 30 got a missus, full time job and a mortgage... but this game has taken priority lol.

first game I played tonight, im barca the cpu is bayern, im 2-0 up, 89th minute Robben dribbles into the box and under pressure gets fouled. Penalty! NO !!! the little twat dived!!! the replay confirms and he gets issued with a yellow. great stuff.

then in my next game I hit a shot from 20 yards out, very weak shot... but it sneaks in! why? I ask, why?

well it only takes a deflection off the defenders ankle (I zoomed in to confirm) that changed the angle so that the keeper could not reach it. it looked so real! the game feels so right!

Seabass is willy Wonka, and we have the golden ticket, those who stay until after the boat ride through the tunnel (have you seen it?) will realaise what genius can create.

Still struggling to use the feints. I've assigned them, but can't seem to pull them off. Is it just the right analogue stick or do i have to hold another button?

Does any one else find that it's unresponsive when it comes to loose balls, or receiving passes? It's doing my head in. Sometimes a player will latch on to a through ball and just sort of stop. Perhaps it's a cursor switching issue? I have it on semi-assisted. And keepers really need to learn to take a step, THEN dive.

I'm the only one here that is missing that type of template kit worn here by Henry and Anelka?

Your doing something wrong, maybe pressing the player stop button or releasing the stick to early, this should not happen and isnt something ive experienced.

Cursor control is paramount as is the stratergy and tactics, the default presets tend to make players stick to there position and not chase loose balls because there following there presets, try clearing the presets and using the auto trigger settings or tailor it to your playing style. Also use the coach mode and switch to on,this way you can sit back and watch a match and see how the different stratergies work in a simulated cpu vs cpu match before you use them.

Thank you for this. Now can someone teach me how to shoot the ball :( :P

Push over the ball with your thumbstick to hit low and pull back on your thumbstick to elevate, you can also add top, back and side spin to the ball with the left thumbstick and put backspin on the ball when you hit long balls so the ball stops dead and doesnt overrun, this also applies to short passing, through passing and heading.

I didn't get it oO

Just had quite a few games on the pc version.

The AI are like PES 2010 for me in the sense one game they can be amazing and then next few games they dont do sod all. Konami seriously need to sort this out. When i play top player i expect the cpu to be good every single game. Its not about being a good team that has nothing to do with it. When the cpu play good they can destroy you but like alot of times on pes 2010 the CPU just goes missing on top player.

Also why do the kits badges looks horrible when the camera is zoomed in on them? Why dont they just use a long camera with the blur for all replays? Because the kits and players look lush when it does.

one of my mates who played barca on pes2011 and then on fifa11 even commented on how messi in fifa11 was nothing like messi in pes2011 and how he in fifa11 felt like every other player(the pes difference).

This is what I wrote on page 354 after playing both demo's extensively with Barcelona because I wanted to test out this pro passing, individuality and toned down physicality but hmmmmm read for yourself.

I'm really not going to beat around the bush here. This all am going to say. I have played both demo today extensively.

Yes FIFA has better presentation and commentary. Duh! They have official licenses. They further have better player/Gk animations and fluidity like people say but I am sorry when its all said and done...

I know which Messi I like controlling and playing with better. I ain't even a dribbling and trick connoisseur but a simple press of R2 and any direction with Messi in PS3 and PES2011 respectively gives me the close control and player freedom that resembles the real Messi.

If any of you doubt this... Try using Messi in FIFA 11 and PES 2011 Demo and see which one plays a lot like its real life counter part... The Messi in PES 2011 is more of a menace and a threat than FIFA 11 and that's just on manual formation and strategy. We ain't even delved into changing formation, tactics and strategy...

One thing, how to really take a penalty without the ball go wide, or getting straight or too near to the keeper? I swear i didn't hold the left analog too long, not even more than 1 sec, but the ball sway fucking far far wide.

How do I play crosses?! In old pes the direction make it go to the first post or second or to the end of the penalty area. In addition you could push it 1,2 or 3 times. Also you could hold R2 to get very very high ball. It doesn't work anymore :/ the R2 thing doesn't work.

I cross using L2, its awesome, when you get used to it you can put the ball exactly where you want.
