PES 2011 Discussion thread

The cross bug, a.k.a. green area is still there in demo. Anybody know if it is being worked on for full release??????

This is the only thing which still bothers me!!

As much as I'm a PES fan for this year, surely that's the wrong attitude to take? Especially when it's a common suggestion amongst PES fans that it can take 10/20/30 games for PES to click, so surely half a game isn't long enough to make a valid judgement?

I gave the FIFA demo much more of a chance, but I understand where Jimmy is coming from - within the first few kicks of the ball after playing PES, I just knew they didn't have the basics right...

To be fair, giving up after one half is kind of ridiculous lol. I played about 12 games with the Fifa 11, even if I wasn't really impressed with it in the first few games. After more games my opinion of it didn't change. I feel that I gave a real good go at it though. Fifa just isn't for me.

Same here. I was a big FIFA fan at the start of 10, so I thought FIFA deserved to be given a proper chance. About 9-10 games in and it's just not for me in the end.

You are kidding me right ? I can see by 3 minutes play that it has no first touch again, no posture relevance, slow passes that are supposed to replicate passing error ? Players gliding around the pitch without any form of relevant inertia or angles. The pitch feels too small, the players feel too big. And there still is very little individuality. It just doesnt 'feel' like football at all to me, not even close.

Seriously I could go on and on. If EA cant even get the most basic fundemental of football in place, i.e.,the first touch, then I simply cannot take them seriously. Especially when PES does it all. Im not part of EA's target audience Dags, and therefore this game cannot provide me with what I require.

And yes, it only takes 3 minutes to see this if you know what your looking for. I dont want to piss on anyone else's parade, it's just not for me, but I expect alot of people will get alot of enjoyment from it, mainly because they are not as fussy or simulation meticulous as I am.

I have to agree with everything here. It's quite clear to me from the word go that FIFA11 still neglects the basics of football. It really doesn't take long to work that out. Totally agree about the pitch being too small/players too big - PES2011 looks like it's got the scale correct and the pitch feels more spacious.

It's still a fun kick-about and does many things right, but it's not the game for me. FIFA is geared for the online crowd.

+1 Thats why i wont even bother, just sounds samo samo, dont get me wrong if a quick fix jump into football game is what you want fine, but IMO even the last 3 years as struggling as konami have been its been the only game to try and take seriously.

Jimmy as you are by far and away the most, how can I put it.. the most Vehement PES supporter not to mention football aficionado, could you please send me a list of major things EA are doing wrong that Konami clearly get right, in replicating the game so I can pass them on to EA...

In FIFA everything looks and feel very similar. You don't have time to think about good football action. Only pass, pass and pass. Online players don't have own style. Most of them play very, very similar. When I play PES online i know very quick what level represents my opponent.

While jimmy is sharpening his pencil lol

2 things come to mind sraight away nick, Individualism and also the patience it takes to learn the game is a rewarding thing. It just takes time. With the other you become bored very quickly.

I am very positive about the demo but there is one thing that needs fixing:
When you play a groundpass, the ball behaves strange.
It looks like it is played on a muddy pitch; the ball slows down far too much.
I think other people noticed it too, so it really needs to be told to Jon Murphy.
I have no Twitter: Can somebody pass this problem through to him?
Thank you.

Couldn't have put it better, great post :SAL: 100% agree.

Just want to say one thing guys, the sad part is that we, football fans, were expecting this type of game back in 2007/2008.

It's taken them 3 years and massive fall against EA to come up with a decent next gen game..just imagine where Konami would be if this 'game' came out in 2008.

Oh wells, will enjoy 2011 and 2012 will definitely be a major surprise.

Prepare for the sequel to War and Peace.

Just kidding, I just wish seabass could be given the keys to EA's offices.

But no dogheads etc

FFS Nick, do we really have to go down this road again ? I only stated my points because I was asked. I'm not posting them in the Fifa demo thread as I have more respect for peoples own opinions than to piss on their parade. Nothing has changed in this regard for the last 7 years.

Yes I'am a football aficionado, it's the game I love, the game a fully understand, the game I have played all my life. And I'm more than qualified to dissect the technical side of the game and it's videogame reproduction. Please feel free to test me on any part you see fit.

Firstly, I'm a supporter of football fundementals and it's replication, the reason that I support Konami is because they fully understand football, and I wholeheartedly support their philosophy that has a proven track record. Everybody wants something different from a football game, I fall into the realism category. There are two seperate current philosophies, EA cater for one, Konami cater for the other. This will never change. This has always been my belief, and the reason why we have two very successful but significantly different football titles each year.

I have already written all the reasons why Fifa isnt a simulation, these were cold hard facts based on the technical side of football. Rom, as far as I'm aware, has already copy and pasted it before and used the basis of it for his unsuccessful attempt to help EA make Fifa a more realistic simulation. I have nothing but respect for Rom and his efforts, but they have fallen on deaf ears, and I can understand his frustration. Rom is someone who understands the technical side of the game, I've read his understanding on numerous occasions and I can totally relate to 'most' of his views.

The bottomline is that EA dont need to change. They have the market share, they target the casual gamer, and they are highly successful, so why on earth would they want to disrupt that. They wont. It's business sense not to. You can tell them till your blue in the face Nick, it will never change anything. And I'm not going anywhere, so the day that EA do change, I'll be right here for you to throw my comments back in face. Just dont hold your breath.

Alot of people will love Fifa, and I imagine the manual Fifa players will be in their element with Fifa 11, and I'm sure the kids will love it, especially the custom celebrations. It's just not for me, for all the reasons I've stated for the last 7 years. Now please, lets just leave it at that.

Yeah, it is disappointing that it's taken so long to get a game of this quality...

I just hope they go in the right direction from now on - the last time they (imo) created a sim-based game in PES5, they made the next version an attacking-biased arcade game, then kept it the same for years (PS2 versions) before completely fucking up the next gen games...

Thats no problem Han, we will get konami to create a virtual groundsman that can cut the bloody grass.

Jimmy, I was being serious, I don't know what you have passed on to HOB, I just wanted a pure PES point of view as to what's wrong with EA's interpretation of the game, as you bleed PES blood I'm asking you.
I'm not claiming I can get EA to change or even want to, I'm just asking for your opinion on why PES does these crucial things better and what they are, it's not a Spanish Inquisition, just a question?...:PIRATE:

Can anyone link me to any feints guide? I can only do tricks by randomly flicking the right stick while holding L2.

So guys I have a question. It's been a long time since i've played pes and now i'm trying (and loving) it on ps3 but i can't get the feint combo's to work. So I've made a trick list where I put the roulette on right stick down. Now when I try this in game (L2 + right stick down) the player does a sideways dribble.. I'm probably doing something wrong but I can't figure it out :CONF:

So what you doing this year fifa ,pes both?
Since my :PIRATE: on PES2008 I have always got FIFA and rented PES but this year I'll get FIFA and PES, or once I try the demo and get the OK on patching and build on PS3, I'll go back to my PS2 WE glory days...:P

As always it's going to take some switching but I may go WE/PES when it's just me and FIFA CM when my mates round...

I apologise if I took it the wrong way. You are articulate, and subsequently clever with words, and I thought you were being pedantic. As for what EA can do, Pronounced individuality, varying first touch, and preferred feet is the bare minimum for a simulation starter. Again, I dont think EA need to do anything though, they own the market.
