PES 2011 Discussion thread

So what time do demos normally hit on the PSN store? I'm waiting until the 15th but just wondered if they generally appear at a certain time.

Someone mentioned on the PESFan site that Mafia 2 was available in the PSN Plus store at 9am. I'm begging it's the same for PES. I have a whole day off work, thankfully, to have a really good go at it. Cant wait. :)

Are people really laughing at Fifa paying for reviews on here when Konami clearly paid off mags for the exclusive rights to their game as well.

1st Exclusive review PES 2008 PS3
Playstation Official Magazine UK 90/100
There is no other game on PS3 that you're guaranteed to still be playing this obsessively this time next year.

PES 2009
Oh Look Gamesmaster yes the same one
Games Master UK 90/100 A big improvement on last year but has ended up as the lighter alternative to "FIFA."

Official Magazine 90/100
"FIFA 09" feels like the better representation of actual football, while PES is the more fun, accessible game. And the end result is a score draw.

Some of you guys have really selective memorys on here

yeah a leaked pc demo would be great!
i can remember the Sniper demo got leaked some time ago before its official release.

alfonso perez, in 98 player of betis.

he was the first player in spain with colour boots in 1996..

Your right about the player in the picture being "Alfonso" but actually the 1st player in Spain to wear white boots was an old timer by the name of "Chendo" for Real Madrid, just obscure knowledge to put out there, no real importance

mmmm chendo never white boots and colour boots

It's been pretty much implied how bogus games reviews are so it's probably not worth arguing over.

I mean think about it, how many individual gaming journalists do you know? I don't know one, i know them all by which source they come from which can be a good way of judging but it's still a bit iffy.

At least with something like film reviews you can pick out which ones are likely to be better assessed and generally more indicative of the material based on previous knowledge of the individual writing the review. Some people are even revered. Games journalism doesn't have that at all.

They still have so much influence though....

I kind of agree, game journalists usually are not big sport game enthusiasts, IMO, Game Magazines should sub-contract reviewers for PES/FIFA, for instance get people who have entered/won interactive PES/FIFA tournaments..cuz you know they are atleast "hardcore" and see the games in the same matter that we do, it would give the review some more "street" credibility but thats not how business are run I guess, they need to be bought by someone I guess? thats why I like this forum cuz there are some credible people that have written some good reviews of the beta etc.

Anyone else think it's ridiculous so much furor has been created by an article that quotes a review, not the review itself? It's like peeps judging PES/FIFA before they're even released.

As Jimmy said and I said in that post a week or so ago, it doesn't matter what magazines say because they don't represent our interests.

And a bunch of you guys scoff at a 94 score for FIFA but in truth, FIFA 11 very well may deserve a 94 score because there's a good chance it IS going to be the best football game ever - for casual video gamers, the ones that matter the most these days.

Look at the other side of this forum and you'll find me bashing EA for making interactive celebrations one of the "big" additions this year, when there are so many core gameplay elements that need fixing - "let's not fix first touch but instead lets work on celebrations." But the fact of the matter is the kiddies will probably go nuts over the celebrations. The issue isn't that these major mag reviewers are getting it wrong, rather it's like Rom said, they're rating these games for casual gamers first and foremost.

There were a few mavericks in the late 60s and early 70s rocking white boots. One of them was Willie Morgan of Man United.

And then there were Alan Ball's famous white boots.

Old news. We laughed. We made fun of that. We had fun. End of. I still don't see where the problem is.

For casual gamers. Do we fall into that category? I don't think we do. We wouldn't be having an issue with that score if we did.

Now lets move on, please.

You have just highlighted the issue. Look how wrong those Pes scores are, none if us here think pes 2008 and 2009 were that good. So why should we trust the FIFA review now. You just proved what we were all talking about. Bad reviews work both ways, nothing about being selective.
