That was the first thing I did. The game has improved in some places but got worse in others.

Downloaded the 360 version and am I fairly happy. I didn't expect it to be the worlds best football game, but it has improved from PES2008, gameplay is much tighter and it is for me hard to score goals, you have to build up play. Multi-player is now much much better, last year games against my bro were ending up 6-5 or summat stupid like that. Played 4 games today and we had some tight games which was good.

This is what PES2008 should have been, but at least Konami are starting to make some kind of progress. So for me 2 good games, both have different strengths and weaknesses.

Played the 360 demo, improvement over 2008, but for the first time I am not buying this. Even though my teams got an official kit for the first time ever, its still not enough, the other game wins hands down this year.

I will be checking the mags to see how thay rate this against Fifa, any that rate this higher will be getting a wide berth in the future.

Time for a complete rehaul Konami !

Also noticed that EA is charging for the Live Season. Wasn't this supposed to be free?!

Played on ps3 and so far i liked it.u have to pass alot cus the defenders dont give space quite often.Like the turf to at night.I know that, the run animations is sometimes jerky(obvious in replay) but when u are play is not that u actualy see it right away.Who cares the running animations.this game rocks on gameplay.Ive been playing pes since it apeared,even the times of goalstorm and firts we.Enjoy the game and stop too many negative feedback.Its not perfect but pes is back on the right track.

Wow, some of this demo impressions are really bad. I will test the PS3 and 360 demo tonight when I get home and see for myself. I am being let down by all the negative impressions though. I guess I'm not surprised. I really hope I'm impressed by the demo tonight. If not, I will cancel my preorder. Money is very hard to come by this days.

Please, those who have played the PS3 and 360 versions, tell me if there are any differences at all in terms of speed/gameplay.

Just Horrible! Shame Konami............. The worst game of Winning Eleven's series of the all time........

The gameplay is really annoying, not just the graphics are bad....

The game has some interesting elements, some things really are improved, but the final result is.............. bizzare

PES2008 is not a great game. But certainly the PES2009 is even worse... much worse =/

They clearly went for the blurry & robotic route this time. PES 2008 is far more sharper & faster.

But surely you think the graphics are improved in the 2009 version? If you don't I know a nice little Specsavers you can visit.....

And surely the speed of PES2008 was one - of many - massive flaws?

downloading it now and i hate the further out camera, i like it close and personnel lol

pace is excelent,no framerate problems,gameplay is good,graphics a bit improved,no problems with replay altought some jerky running animatios that u notice on replays.Overall good game.Surely i will by this game.enjoy it

yeah, i really want to know if it's a finished product, unlike last year's version (framerate problems, decreasing grass textures in order to avoid slowdown, etc)

Well.. first of all.. everybody hates PES2008... I don´t....it may be because I love playing like Arsenal does in real life all the time even if the players can run as they where Bolt...and that makes the game more real but in the demo it´s impossible you don´t have room to pass the ball...and before someone tell me "It´s because the IA is better and the cover the spaces..blablabla.." I´m not talking about the midfield or the attack but in defense..you can´t pass the ball one side to the other...there is always a cpu player near..and I mean very very near...
Yes the ball physics is much better, the textures, faces and those things are very good, but i don´t like it... feels like the field is small, and the players are huge, i can´t feel any power when I shoot and the players running animations are awful, messi´s legs move 1000 times and advances 1 ft..¿?¿?.
Don´t want to say it´s a piece of crap.. it has very good things and very bad things.. I just feel the bad ones are "badder" than the good ones.. maybe in the full game something changes my mind...but seeing that everybody has different points of view of the demo some will enjoy it and some will not...I´m in the side of the ones not enjoying it..:(
Guess it´s time to play another game... next year I´ll try PES2010...:P

About the pics of Loganise..i think he is talking about the player models..not the textures or shirts...ronaldo looks like the hunchback of notre dame (i think it´s spelled that way).

And I don´t understand why everyone hates the speed of PES2008..the game is what you make of it...If everybody played running like idiots all the time it´s your fault not the game... just because in this one the players run in slow motion doesn´t change the fact that you are playing like you played in PES2008 but with slower players....

About the flaws of 2008...yes there are many..but I still like 2008 more than the demo of 2009..:) and the last thing...about the video of the german magazine..when I first watched it I was like "OMG the players move like robots every time they turn with the ball.." but in the games I played they did that robot feint 1 or 2 times... the problem is how you play the game try not to make the players move in a unrealistic way..(in real life they DO injury the legs if you make a 90º turn with your knee)..and problem solved... ciao!

ok well this is much better then 2008. The graphics i like, but now im seeing why some people think its cartoony... it is... ok so what the fuck is this thing wheere you have to switcth to the player before he receives the ball, i guess this is ok(its not automatic). Build up play is back, but same movement as in previous PES games. I need to play more.

pace - slower than 2008. the engine is based on a cross between 6 and 2008. basically no next gen engine. the ball has a weighty feel to it and a tremendous thud is heard after every pass.
gameplay - a cross between 6 and 2008. to me this isnt awesome at all. the players still run like robocop after a few pints. again last gen.
framerate - no problems really, its actually quite smooth.
graphics - i dont see this huge graphical update. maybe i need glasses.
replays - no slowdown at all.

it would be foolish of me to say dont buy this game because of a demo but i cant help but feel the die hard pes fanboys will buy this in their droves again and that will suit konami nicely. they can get away again next year with another half arsed update. its not terrible but its not impressive by any means. :SS

Simply awful.


All players lurch forward when they receive the ball, even when stood still.

Keepers stil parry into the path of oncoming forwards.

Passing is easy, so easy its not even funny.

Animations are still the same as 10 years ago.

People don't actually run like that.

i'm relieved to see they have turned down the speed a notch. Furthermore it's impossible to go and have a run with ronaldo/messi/ibrahimovich etc and slalom your way through the defence. The main focus of 2009 is your passing game, which seems very easy. The 1-2 passes work suberb, even the ones going through the air. I got some nice give-n-go goals with rooney, that hardly worked in previous versions.

so maybe if they could tweak the passing a bit for the final version, coz it's too easy like this (every pass goes in a straight line into the feet of your teammate)
