Exactly my point. If the animations are fixed, they will moan about sandbags. If the speed is fixed, they will moan about "Who ate all the pies?" banners. If the goalies are way better, they will moan about Mickey Mouse's gloves. And so on...

I guess some people take the game as something personal...

@Putuco Malo :OT: yay we won(Milan - Inter) :)

im glad i wil play it on PS3:) the MP3 import is a big thing for me(and the controller ofcourse:)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I have scans for PES 2009 review from OPM uk. Whats the quickest way to upload them here?

thx!

Ah they say the wide free kicks aren't going straight to the keeper anymore, i'm glad to hear that, cuzz it was very anoying.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Hey, I updated my previous post to expand upon a few points- Rob92. I see what you say about shooters but essentially what we loved about MGS is still intact, in MGS4. People demanded that Kojima do MGS4 and not another team because he had done so well in the past. Sure, another team could fix the nets and fix the gloves in PES but the gameplay may be broken in many aspects and what then? Seabass must prioritize and I'm sure there are things that are checked off this year that you will eventually find out if you play PES2009.

You are right, Football is far more complexed and not easy to do every possible thing in just a year's time. If you don't like this year, you always have the next. However, if they change the core gameplay or Seabass and his team, it is such a big risk that the outcome will be a shambles and with only a year, it's almost impossible.
I really do hope that PES can come back strongly in 2010 (with this years version looking poor) as it's better for the consumer (more choice), and better for the football gaming industry as a whole (will push EA to improve further, to try and stay ahead of the game).

PES in it's current form just doesn't interest me, I wish it still gave me the same feeling it gave me 2 or 3 years ago, and I suppose it still does with some people. Maybe i'm too hard to please, but I really do expect big advancements each year, especially when new consoles/much improved hardware are released.

As someone else said, like Liverpool fans saying "it will be our year", we always say in the build up to a new PES game "this will be the year they blow us away and produce a masterpiece" or similar, and it never materialises.

Seabass and his team may have the ability to create a good game, but I think they need a new, solid base with things such as (at least) 32 directional movement/passing/shooting to build upon, and then add into it a load of tactical options, intelligent AI, lower leagues, some nice good online modes, some proper online servers, a slower pace and that "spark" that PES has always had (before 08), and they may challenge EA again, but until that point, it doesn't have anything to grab my attention.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I really hope PES comes back stronger than ever, I hope they throw SB overboard because I truly believe he is the main problem... But everyone even the most ardent FIFA fan boy should pray Konami keep pace with EA because if we just end up with one player, we'll be getting very minor tweaks every year at best.

I still think the exclusive licence crap has held the genre back massively...

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Yes everyone in Real Madrid should be 90+ we get it.

No mate. But do you think PEPE stats are real? 83 defence? He is a very good defender. At least he deserves 86 or 87. And Marcelo also deserves to be better. Higuain also... I´m just saying they don´t give the right stats. They just care about magazine players (like ronaldo, adriano, etc).

Also Arsenal and Roma are very underrated (fabregas, eduardo, de rossi, aquilani, mexes)

Agreed.

It's also why we only have two football games now whereas 10-15 years ago we had many more to choose from. Exclusive licenses are probably putting other games developers off creating a new football series.

@Putuco Malo :OT: yay we won(Milan - Inter) :)

C'mon man - you flag Putuco Malo for off-topic and then post the result of the Milan derby :nono:
I had to work today and have it on DVR to watch later but I guess there's not much point now. Haven't we seen this enough in this thread for people to learn? There's a place to discuss match results in the forums but it ain't here!

except if they come to pc and the fans put the licenses themselves....

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

thats the whole argument we are having mate, why should we settle and pay for something we got 3 years ago???? we have to move forward not stay in the past:brick:

Nobody forces you to buy it, I also would like to see more fantastic changes but if the gameplay still offers me more fun then FIFA I'm buying this one again.

If FIFA in X years is gonna offer me more exciting games (in my opinion) then I'll be buying FIFA, but EA is just not there in my opinion. I just want a good Footie, don't care who made it... (and since 2000 that was pro evo for me)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

All years is the same here at EW, at least from 2004. It is a bashing fest usually, so I am not surprised about it. Even when the game was at its peak (PES5) people still moaned about it.

My conclusion on this is that nobody can be happy with a PES/WE game. When it releases there are typical opinions like "PESX was far better" or "WEX had the option of Y thing, now is not available" etc etc etc.

It is business as usual. Nothing to worry anyway, I will buy the game and enjoy it. If the other 99% of the forum does not like it, it is fine. I will play the game, not them.

Or this explenation... :TU:

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Around 9 mins the geezer says he scored 3 free kicks with Wesley Sneijder in one match and likes the long range shooting. I hope he doesn't mean all of his long range shots went in...

10 mins, he says the Goalkeepers tend to parry the shots to the sides a lot more, not in front of the strikers like in PES2008.

Fingers crossed for the quality of the Goalkeepers....

I also hope they're better to but not perfect (like in fifa 2000 for exmaple (my last one)), every weekend there are keepers doing stupid things or misjudging situations, espacially with today's balls. Pay a bit attention to it you'll be surprised how much it happens.

(And I know in 08 it happened too much)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Thomas
true

Confirmed the characteristics that demo will have: -4 jugables equipment: Argentina, Sweden, Germany and Spain. -10 minutes of party juiceable. - A stage to choose. - Election of rain or sun in climatologic conditions. - 2 players simultaneously will only be able to play each party.

Excuse my confusion it caused during the week.

Well use online translator
nothing official
one rumour says 2 october (someone call to konami france..), but i believe only on an official announcement

Sorry but i don't beleive that people here are simply moaners, in the past i used to love new PES releases, even WE5 that was the 1st PS2 game was better than his PS1 version.

What really makes me mad is that now(after 2 games on next gen) PES on PS3/360 is still worse than his PS2 version.

I really cannot understand this, you have better hardware, i am expecting a better game. You don't want to change a winning formula? (like the MGS example) i am fine, give me just the ps2 version with hd graphics and a working online, its all i want.

But worse animation, worse online and worse gameplay than ps2 version? no tnx..

that said i like the last 3 videos :)

omg those videos look so good!! much slower pace! New animations I never seen before. I loved the 2nd video last tevez shoot. It was so real, really good. Let´s see what pes 2009 has to offer :D No crazy runs with messi, the game seems harder to play. It seems you need to pass a lot. Finally I like a PES 2009 video! :)

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I disagree since I think Sneijder deserv more than 90 for long and short passing. Van Der vaart should be among the best offensive midfiliers in the game. He is class. He is not fast but he keeps the ball under his feet and has great passing abilities, dribbling ones (slow though). Pablo Aimar stills better than van der vaart in PES 2008 and that´s nof realistic. And if we think that Ronaldo (the fat one) has 90+ acceleration and all those incredible stats.. we can see that they´re not doing it well. Thuram is also overrated, saha, micahel owena and so on.

You can argue about some particular stats of sooooo many players, some things also depend on the form etc etc. But those 2 are in general balanced quiet good in comparison to the real thing. Both are superb players...

indeed, the more competition the better

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Actually the issue is not that people here are simply moaners but rather that Konami refuses to listen to their consumers at all which breeds frustration and anger amongst them over the years. PES has NOT been an evolution virtually in any sense of the word and all these niggling issues you mention should have been addressed by now.
Most of us here have invested a good deal of money in next-gen game systems and the latest high end media equipment (TV's, Surround systems), and it's not unreasonable to expect game companies to keep their product moving forward to match the technology.
PES is stuck in last generation mode - everything about it from animations to graphics is stale and dated. I certainly can understand how some people are still happy with it (my Mum is still surrounded by old fashioned kitchen appliances and refuses to go modern as she feels safe and comfortable with what she knows) - but to accuse people of being moaners and having a personal vendetta against the game simply because they want Konami to get off their cheap, lazy arses and move PES out of the past and into the next generation doesn't seem justifiable.

It is fine. Dont like the product? Perfect, dont buy it. But dont consider your voice the only one, since there is a lot of people that enjoy the game. We also want to see PES improving, but we are not here to moan every single year about the same stuff.

No mate. But do you think PEPE stats are real? 83 defence? He is a very good defender. At least he deserves 86 or 87. And Marcelo also deserves to be better. Higuain also... I´m just saying they don´t give the right stats. They just care about magazine players (like ronaldo, adriano, etc).

Pepe is OK with 83 defense. For me is not a great defender. I can argue that now Bonera has 81 defense, when he is, at least for me, a lot better than Pepe but I guess it is not a popular player so...

Marcelo is a terrible player in real life. I aam with you about Higuain, or even Gago, their stats suck big time... but you know the thing about stats: everybody will argue to death about them because the perception of football varies from one person to another...

Sorry but i don't beleive that people here are simply moaners, in the past i used to love new PES releases, even WE5 that was the 1st PS2 game was better than his PS1 version.

I understand your point. What I dont understand is the people that just moan/complain here and do not see anything good in the game. Guys, dont suffer, DON'T BUY THE GAME. Invest that money in another game that satisfy you, can be FIFA 2009 or Top Spin 3. Have fun. Peace.

I remember the ISS-time, when nobody bothered licensing.
Still everybody loved the game. Now people decide not to buy the game if their favorite team is not licensed. A new type of gamer has come to PES last years and I think those are not the same who loved that worse licensed ISS-game.

This is also something that surprises me, Han, and I agree 100%.

The only reason for that is because edit mode works only offline. Online the default kits will appear, as well as default rosters. I know that sucks, but let's be serious, 90% of the people online play with the big teams, and almost all of them are licensed. I know it sucks, but that is the reality.

Konami, just give me a good edit mode and I will be happy... and of course IMPROVE IT with every new version!

@junka: LOL dude, you should have posted that as "spoiler" so nobody here would know the result of the game. Kaka was killer today, good to see the best player of the world (Cristiano who?) is coming back to shape.

OT: I feel bad knowing that some people around the world already have the game and I dont have it yet... :(

Yes, i also didn't care that much about the licenses in when i started playing it on ps1, still not a major issue for me. But that wasn't my point of my comment.

but as Jamezinho said here: "Exclusive licenses are probably putting other games developers off creating a new football series."

That's just plain bad if other developers are capable/interested of/in making maybe a better footie (or just some good competition in this genre) but they won't cuzz of this exclusive licensing.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Comapanies can create a new football game with only top european teams and deal with each one the license. That´s no excuse. I wouldn´t mind if a football game only had 30 teams (the strongests in europe) as long as the gameplay was awesome.

True, but that would be just 1 copy of that awesome game. And that still are 30 costly licences... :brick:

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

I must say some hope has rekindeled....at least the ball isnt glued to teh ground at low passes...and the pace seems nice...oh god im confused some videos look crap others.... :SS

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Yes mate those videos look very good! I really like the pace of the game and the way you must play to create chances -> a lot of passing style! Didn´t see a single individual run working well. Even with messi.

Re: PES 2009 News Discussion Etc. (STRICTLY NO FIFA DEMO IMPRESSIONS OR POLITICAL CHA

Yup no doubt about it, the gameplay looks more refined and the animations don't looks as robotic in those videos as they have in older builds. Can I say, regardless, of net construction...the way the ball looks when hits the back of the net is fantastic!!! The physics for that is superb!
