Also not sure about the defensive controls, the right stick man changing is useless as it's hard to be precise, I just stick to the right trigger for change man and use pressure and 2nd man pressure. Graphics are so so, a bit sharper textures maybe, and I like the new winter setting with the snow faintly falling, it's a nice touch.

Don't know what's going on with the shooting. Every shot seems to use the same animation, and it's like an outside of the foot shot with unbelievable power on it, doesn't look realistic at all. I haven't scored yet on amateur, and I'm used to trouncing the AI on Legendary. Every shot either goes wide or is fingertip saved by the keeper.

There's a few new sounds but nothing really noteworthy aside from some nice trumpet effects and some specialised player commentary ('Rooney won't be happy with that one' ; 'Ronaldo under pressure from the defense here').

Overall, a bit of an improvement over 07, aside from the shooting which is different, but not better or worse. Doesn't really seem worth buying if you have 07. I might pick it up for $20 but I certainly won't be paying full price. PES is still the benchmark for PC football gaming, and it looks like it'll stay that way in 08. Bring on PES 2008 and next-gen Fifa 09.

Maybe just a little, it was originally posted in the Fifa thread so I didn't want people to look at the score and call me 'PES fanboy' without reading what I had to say. I can see myself maybe playing the Manager Mode with a gameplay patch and some hi-res textures.
 
lol fifa is fucking bad..EA will never catch KONAMI...lol i can't stop laughing after played fifa demo..i also uninstalled it :D....

hahahah yeah when i played the demo for the first time i allready wanted to uninstall it :P but i gave it a second try the next day, and i dident come further then minute 20 in the game.. and uninstalled it :D
 
hopefully we can have proper discussions about Fifa next year if they make it next gen then i will be looking forward to it btw ive seen videos of the next gen version looks like a good game
 
people say FIFA still sucks ass, even with their latest franchise. let's just hope PES doesn't let us down, let's just hope...

Posts like this annoy me. FIFA Next Gen is getting there and doesnt feel arcadey to me! PES Next Gen Half Arsed 360 attempt felt like the same old CPU Scripted, Bullshit deflections and CPU Cheating that has been plauging the game since ISS Pro!!!

How people can just say things like FIFA = Crap and PES = The Almighty is beyond me. Have any of you tried FIFA next gen? probably not judging by your narrow minded comments!

Uhm I think it will run also with pixel shader 2.0 seen that video cards as atix800 and 9800 are supported.

I've tried both

And Fifa is still way off! At least from making you feel like your in direct control of your player!

The ball is weird, cant pinpoint what exactly, but it feels too light.

When your shooting in PES you have total control over where you aim it, fifa still feels like it's hit and hope, and maybe it'll go in the general direction you hoped it would!

EA are and will always be interested in new gimmick features year in year out, thus neglecting the main focus of any game! GAMEPLAY!

PES has had it's problems, but I think the good far outweigh the bad, where if I bought fifa i'd be pissed off i'd payed for a game where the main gameplay just doesn't cut it!

Fifa is just like buying a ferrari only to find out it drives like a combine harvester.

i saw a FIFA 08 trailer on Manual Passing, what is new about it. .it already exists in PES. Why was it so highlighted ?
 
It exists in PES but its fucking shit! by the time you have pressed the right stick in the direction you want to play the pass and Clicked the Analog down you are already Robbed by a CPU player! it doesnt work very well at all and still feels scripted IMO.

can an ati radeon x1400 play this?
 
It's not supported but it might be able to. I'd upgrade anyway if I were you, with all the new games coming out (Crysis for example) you're going to need a better graphics card.

mine's a laptop.. i got it about 10 months ago when i needed it for projects when school started.. so sad if i can't play those games! :(
 
i have a question my be i asked in wrong place,
all those online console and pc players play agains eachother or just pc players play agains to only pc players?
 
Fifa next gen looks good, plays bloody awful. Passing sucks, shooting sucks, AI sucks, everything sucks!

Fifa on next-gen is just Fifa on current-gen wrapped up with better models and textures. Look at the videos, people try and tell me the gameplay looks good, I just laugh at them.

If you think Fifa is at all realistic, fun or worth buying, please just watch more football!
PES looks fun as always, you have to look closely at the videos to see the changes. Good pace of passing, shooting looks good, good off the ball runs, good licsensed kits etc. Havn't been able to see the AI in action yet but I expect a lot from it.
Pre-order will be going in soon :).

Evo-Web is turning into Fifa fan paradise...
 
Have you played Fifa, Rob? Not bashing, just curious.

I dunno if Fifa is as bad as you say, and at first I was really pissed that it wouldn't be next-gen on PC, but after I watched all the PES vids I realised that PES looks much better.
 
Yes I have, I have tried Fifa 07 and UCL 06/07 on Xbox360, they are piss poor. They feel the same as the PC/PS2 versions with better graphics.

yeah it was like that earlier when i used default controls, but i use manual passing quite a lot.

I have swapped R3 for L2 in controls, and it is way lot easier now. It was slightly difficult to adjust at first but it is quite simple now :)
