Next Gen Consoles

That's certainly true, though it doesn't sound like Sony will be nearly as aggressive with their price drops this time around. So it it comes down to how long you're willing to wait.

Agree on the price. I'm confident of a game bundle being added at some point... maybe the spring at the earliest, but most likely next fall. But realistically, if you want a PS4 nothing is going to change with price or hardware for over a year. If they are running too hot now, they'll still be running hot over the next year or so.

My worry comes from being bitten before. I stood in line and bought a fat 60GB PS3 back in 2006 and that bastard died after 13 months (1 month out of warranty). I can see it happening all over again. Hopefully Sony hasn't crammed too much tech into such a small box that will have the same heat issues as a lot of the first 60GB PS3s. Still, early days.

Yeah, it's interesting that the new Xbox has similar tech but it's much larger, plus it has the external power supply.

Yeah, well let's see how Microsoft's day one patch goes. Changing their entire O/S in less than 5 months sounds crazy difficult. I do think you are right on the hardware issues. I imagine heat management was toward the top of Microsoft's priorities.

These people posting vids of them smashing their next-gen console in public. I'm not going to post them here. I get real mad.

Reading on forums such as Neogaf and PSU where the majority of posters are from America, it seems that the PS4 failure problem isn't that widespread, especially considering 1 million units have been sold. The vast majority of regular members on the PSU forum are reporting that their consoles are working fine.

I guess we will have a better idea in the next 2 or 3 weeks whether this problem is widespread.

I really hope that the PS4 and XboxOne are both successful, competition is healthy and ultimately beneficial to us the consumer.

You do know there's a standard 2-year warranty on electrical goods in the EU?

Ps4 reached 1 million unit sales in 24 hours

Playstation 2 reached 1 million unit sales in 3 days

Wii U reached 400 000 unit sales in a week

Wii reached 600.000 unit sales in 8 days

Playstation 3 reached 1 million unit sales in 2 months:))

Xbox 360 reached 326.000 unit sales in 2 weeks

Nice to see PS4 starting strong. Hope the Xbone gets a good start as well. Don't really see the benefits of any console failing. Wii U should pick up as well with big Nintendo games coming for it. Good times ahead.

There are some Small Form Factor PC cases. The BitFenix Prodigy is quite popular from what I've read, for example.

The Alienware x51 isn't much bigger than a 360 and the upcoming Steam Machines appear to have crammed high level graphics cards into console sized cases.
