Next Gen Consoles

Why's it not worth talking about? BF4 is one of the biggest name titles to be lauded as showing off the power of next gen, if there are rumours of significant problems with how the next gen title is surely that's a topic for conversation in the Next Gen Consoles thread?

I would expect bf4 to look as good as the pc else what's the point?

I'm talking about the release version not the early footage, you're right we can't compare it against a beyond-top end PC graphics card but at least retail version on high for PC should at least be matched by next gen.

Yes, but the discussion is on the pre-alpha version that was tested at Gamescom. I really see no need for so much negativity just because of small problems in a version so far from being finalized. Especially compared to a PC with high settings identified by airjoca. Such problems certainly will be corrected or at least mitigated to the final version.

Anyway BF4 sucks it, so I do not care if the game is crap and the PS4/Xone. :P

Graphics look great.

It just seems a little last gen in terms of maps features and gameplay.

Killzone should at least have vehicles by now.

Why is that? To become another Battlefield? Not all the games should be the same, you know?

I know, and it has nothing to do with Battlefield.

They've already introduced vehicles to Killzone in the single player campaign so its a natural transition to move to to MP and allow the teams to fight on larger maps. I'd compare it more to Halo 1 than Battlefield. They had tanks and smaller vehicles on there and it was a hell of a lot of fun.

I understand this isn't Killzone 4, it's more... just a next gen spit polish version of Killzone 3. But I'd just liked to have seen them expand the game a little more as it's going to feel like more of them same otherwise.

I agree. Looked nice, but lacking substance. Surprising, considering the importance of console exclusive FPS games at launch nowadays. No vehicles, no destruction, no new effects, nothing innovative really... But not trying to put so much critique into a bad player's 5 minute multiplayer compilation.

I was expecting more, though. Like what Titanfall has improved on from Call of Duty, I expected similar from Killzone (and for Halo when it comes out.) Battlefield 4 gets a pass of being "more of the same" since BF3 was basically a low-res next-gen game and DICE can use BF4 to catch up to it's already "next gen" engine.

Shame Killzone is probably the game that interests me the least, have zero plans to buy it, ideal for me would be a Fifa14 bundle or maybe Black Flag, Watch Dogs I'm ordered the Deadsec edition because the action figure is awesome :)

Shopto are offering various bundles for both consoles it seems, though I'm not sure if you actually save any money on buying them all separately. A PS4 with an extra controller and a game is anywhere from £430-£450. Don't mind the price of the consoles, it's the games and extras that are concerning me. I just hope game prices are this expensive because they're new. I think I remember PS3 games starting out at £45-50 when that first came out, so hopefully they'll drop. Well, physical copies anyway, the official online stores will always charge £50-70.

Big Disappointment, Battlefield 4 running on PC with Xbox One controller at PAX Prime

Not surprising news, DICE and Microsoft promised the players to test their Xbox One games on actual Xbox One platform at PAX Prime but again after E3′ s disappointment the players surprised at PAX that they are playing battlefield 4 on PC with the E3 build of the game.

BlindSpider11 has wrote his “review” at Reddit:

-Running on PC’s with Xbox One controllers.

-Seems to be the E3 build. Battlefield 3 style death animation, “Battlefield 4 at E3″ banner upon death, etc.

-Resolution was set to 1920X1080

And the funny thing, The game was crashed during playing and exit to a windows 8 desktop, And when you died it showed the BF4 @ E3 ad. So it’s the E3 PC demo with an Xbone controller hooked up.

So they show the ps4 version and by accounts its running poo.
Then they promise to show the Xbox version and.... They use the pc version.

Hmmm... Foil hat time but was this an attempt to get people to think the Xbox version looks and runs amazing compared to the ps4?

Don't know but I'm not liking this. Still early though but they shouldn't have promised things and do something else.

We don't know the spec of the PC's Microsoft were using to show of BF4.
Ubisoft said during E3 they were using lower spec PC's so people could see the true PS4 experience, so Microsoft could well of done the same and used lower spec PC's.
