MMA thread

You watching it live, Tim? I'm really looking forward to the main event but the rest of the card doesn't sound great to me. Got some beers in though so will try and stay awake.

I would love to see GSP knock Kos cold, but it's a long time since GSP has showed that side. I'm a big GSP fan, own his entire MMA career, but since the Serra fight, he has become a different fighter. Someone who ensures he doesnt lose as opposed to a fighter that wants to win in spectacular fashion. I can understand the hesitance, but for me, he isnt as exciting as he once was, even though he's a much better fighter. His wrestling has become so much more prominent since that Serra fight, testament to reluctance to keep it standing, which was a staple part of his earlier career.

I'd like to see McLovin do a number on Bocek, take his arm home, via the flying route, but it's a tough call. Great ground fight this on paper, which usually means it will stay upright. :(

Its nice to see Alves come in on-weight for a change, Dolce has done a great job with both him and Rampage. I dont see Howard giving Thiago too much too worry about, a nice head-kick finish is long overdue.

Danzig and Stevenson is a match-up where neither are really currently relevant, hopefully this will ensure a great fight.

The fight I'm most interested in bar the Main Event, is Oliveira against Miller. This is the acid-test for Oliveira who has looked nothing less than sensational so far. Miller though is solid everywhere, and if Oliveira gets past Miller, it really will send waves through what is already a stacked division. The arrival of Bendo and Co at 155lbs makes the division arguably the hottest in the UFC.

Apart from the Hunt win, I've not seen much of McCorkle, but Stefan is never in a dull fight, so this should be entertaining. We wont get to see Dan Miller and Doerksen unless its FOTN, SOTN or KOTN. Which is shame, this could be a cracker.

Some cracking fights in UFC 124

Some great groundwork as well that makes you appreciate how technical MMA is

Dont miss WEC 53 tonight, not on UK T.V., but available early morning from the usual sources. This is a great card, with two WEC Championships on the line. Pettis challenges Henderson for his 155lb strap, and for those who havent seen Pettis yet, make sure you get this. He is like Bruce Lee, and without a shadow of a doubt, the flashiest fighter in MMA for me. A really tough ask though against Bendo, with the winner facing with winner of Edgar and Maynard to unify the division.

Cruz v Jorgensen will be a barnburner as well with both looking to finish in every fight they are in. I'm happy for Scott, he more than deserves this shot. Should be another cracker.

Best thing i have seen in MMA

We were all shocked when when it happened, i had my hands on head and others had there hands over mouth in disbelief

Some good fights and finishs imo

I thought Edgar had it 4 to 1 though in rounds in the main event scoring 48-46 even with the 10-8 first round so was a little shocked that they gave 2 rounds to Maynard and it ended up a draw

I agreed with Maynard in that he won 3 rounds and Edgar only 2.
Dana White has said there will be a rematch between these 2 before anyone else gets a title shot.

The Strikeforce event on January 29th sounds like it'll be amazing, and then the knockout tournament in February just sounds ... wow

Can't wait for those :)

Just like the Pride GP

Should be good because Strikeforce's Heavyweight division is there strongest

Its safe to post this now surely

Wow is all i can say after seeing the second slo-mo

I saw that Dags and thought exactly the same thing. In fact I might even tweet Dana White and tell him too. Completely ridiculous decision. Should have been Velasquez.

Brock has some great coaches for his Muay Thai and Boxing, he brings in the best in the business, he can afford to. Also, bar Cain, he has arguably the best wrestling credentials in the HW division. Brock and his team will have plenty to offer, I wouldnt worry about that. JDS will have the Nog brothers and Anderson. That aint too shabby either.

I managed to get Anthony Showtime Pettis full career yesterday, absolute quality viewing, especially the fights before he joined the WEC which I hadnt seen. Ridiculous knockouts are par for the course with this kid, quality.

I got them from a private MMA-Torrent site I'm a member of Coopz. I'll log in tonight when I get home and see if I have any free invites left, if I have, I'll PM you. :)

I got Thiago Silva's career as well as the WEC's greatest submissions and KO's. Man, I love that site. :)

i think i know of this site you are talking about and i have been a member since the early days and some of the stuff on there you cannot get anywhere else. it is very good. very good speeds too.

I checked last night Coopz, but I dont have any invites left. I gave the last one I had to Vondave. I'll enquire about getting some more. Alternatively, keep checking the site for the option to sign up for free. Its www.mma-torrents.com ( I cant access the site from work.)
