Microsoft Xbox 360

That and how fluid is all is

There really is no fucking about when you play a 360 online especially when your mates are on

Comes back to the same argument - the PSN is 'nearly' as good as XBL, but the fact its free almost negates that gap.

Agreed Coopz, still what would u buy right now?? I'd say right now money are better spent on the ps3. MS is doing a cheap trick here, lowering price but taking away things.

I have had both so would 100% go for a 360 again after trying the 2

I have no intention in using Blu-ray or the internet on it so it would be pointless me paying extra when im only after a games console, in which the 360 does better than the PS3 imo and others according to arguments on this before

Personally feel after owning a PS3 since launch and championing it all the way, now I have a 360 Elite too, I say the 2 are pretty much equal in different ways and whichever you buy, you are gonna get a great console.

The games are pretty similar in quality (i.e. some better on PS3 due to extra capacity of BR, some better on 360 due to being easier to work with for devs) and both have unique features.

If I was being pedantic, then I'd edge the PS3 over 360 due to things like BR, Internet, Free PSN etc - but as Coopz says, unless you use those things (and I now dont need too), then its much of a muchness.

Similarly, 360 getting Facebook, Twitter, LastFM - all nice to have, but if you never use them, then not really a bonus.

I consider myself really lucky (ok, I've worked very hard!) to own both :)

If I didn't own a console and I wanted to buy one, I would definitely get a PS3 now - a far better package overall for the same price...

no doubt the 360 has a better social online framework then the ps3 but for me the exclusive games on the ps3 are a bit better then what you get on a 360.

Like you, i have both but this year i have not purchased a 360 game. forza 3 will be the only one i will get on the 360 this year. i dont like halo games and i cant think of any other 360 exclusive games i would like.

tbh people tend to forget that most games are multiplatform as well. You cant go wrong with both lads

I recently switched from PS3 to 360.
My PS3 (from the first edition) broke down. When i heard that Sony asked 298 euro without having done repairements, i was so outraged i decided to buy a 360.

I can compare both. For me the main advantage of PS3 is the fact that you can get online out of the box. With a 360 you have to buy other things. That was a disappointment.

So at the moment i can't go online. I certainly will because it seems that Xbox Live is 360's biggest asset.

Hi Gerd, from what I understand, go online with your XB create a Silver Account for Live, at that the end of that sign up process I think it asks if you would like to try Gold for a month for free, so just try that then.

Anyone looking for a cheap deal for 1 years Gold account, I can recommend boxeddeal.com.

Got my years subscription for around £26.

Cheers

Cheers for that. Will take a look as I've only got 2 moths to go. If I bought that now, will it just top up my existing time remaining or do I have to wait for it to run down first?

offer i went for at GAME

£199.99 for elite with 2 games

the HDMI cable is in with the bundle and the you could pick 2 games from fight night round 4, tiger woods 10, GTA IV and COD4

i chose FNR4 and TW10 becaue they have the most trade in value, cause i already have COD4 and FNR4 and don't want GTA IV or TW10.

Hi chaps, I'm after some help...

How do I play MP4's on the 360? I've downloaded the update but still nothing.
Basically, I have this DVD to ipod converter software. Paid for it so I don't think I'm talking about something I shouldn't be?? It's just so I can convert our films so my missus can watch them during her lunch hour on itouch.

The file extension is MPEG4 once it's converted. I copied a film to a USB stick and then chucked it into the 360. Got message though saying it can't be played back.

Any ideas on how to resolve this? I know I can chuck the DVD in but I'm just wondering as it's supposed to be possible and it's not working for me.

Just use normal avi's (divx/xvid) they work without problems

If your converting for an Ipod the surely the quality will be very poor on a bigger screen anyway? Converting again from DVD to a Xvid/Divx avi would be better for quality

Ah yeah you have to go though the video menu on the 360 for them to work as well and then select USB, current disk, HDD ect

I've had endless problems working with the 360 on its own to play media files. In the end I downloaded TVersity, which streams everything that you can play on your PC to your console (360 or even PS3).

I watch my movies using my bittorent software (Azureus). A simple drag & drop and it works perfectly.
Much easier than Tversity, there's no settings to do.

If its a avi no decoding is needed from TVersity. That works good with HD films though seeing as the 360 doesn't support MKV's

If you have regular avi's you can store all the films on your pc and stream them straight though the Xbox with no other programs at all. Other than that you can put about 5 films on a DVD and do it that way or with a USB stick

Just buy an external hard drive and put all your movies/music/photos on there. Plug and play, simples.

i used to use external hardrive, a usb stick would work also and get hd wmvs for movies and watch them through the hdmi port on the HD tv and the quality is as good as the mkv's

If you're in the UK you can get 2100 Live points from Littlewoods for £7 (assuming you're not already a customer). They do £15 off your first order if you use this code at checkout: ZG753

The points are £22 so with the offer they come down to £7. I've ordered some myself and it all seems ok so far.

I got mine from ebay.com from an international seller. The price is in $ but it converts so you pay out your paypal. It was about £25ish and the code came within hours.
