Microsoft Xbox 360

Guys, I have a brand new sealed GTA IV by mistake. Do you think I can go into one of the big shops like Zaavi or GAME and say that I got it off them? but lost the receipt? so I can get a full refund? I know its unethical... but i think its a waste to sell it to CEX for something like £15 when its BRAND NEW!!!

Doubt it will work - they know people will be in your situation so they'll ask for the receipt. I was in the same situation a while ago, thankfully somebody leant me their receipt.

EB Canada Offers Hazy Force Unleashed Buyback Guarantee
You may remember back in March, when EBGameStop announced a too good to be true buyback program of sorts for the PLayStation 3 title Haze, in which they offered gamers a chance to trade-in the title for full purchase price in case they didn't enjoy the game. Fortunately for GameStop, Ubisoft pulled the emergency brake on that deal, but now GameStop Canada has brought back their gaming guarantee, only this time for a title that might not suck. Players picking up Star Wars: The Force Unleashed within seven days of release have a week to return the title for full-price store credit should they dislike the game, or beat it early.

I'm not seeing anything about this program outside of Canada, which is probably due to the fact that GameStop knows those friendly Canadians are just too gosh-darn polite to take advantage, while in the states they'd have 50% of their inventory back by Friday.

its probably more to do with Canadian laws...

Yesterday we reported Sony's annoucement via the PlayStation Blog that all the major upcoming PS3 music games (Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour, and Rock Revolution) will be able to share instruments.

Not to be outdone (and concerned that the PS3 claim might imply the opposite for rivals) Chris Paladino from Microsoft used the Gamerscore Blog to confirm that the same was true of the XBox version of those games as well.

For the record, we also do that, so consider this an official announcement.

All the instruments from Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour, and Rock Revolution will be cross-compatible.

Let's hear it for common sense and compatibility. Up next — world peace.

GC 2008: Revised 360 controller is 'limited edition, promotional item

revised-360-pad-yuck.jpg

No sooner had we ecstatically bid the old d-pad adieu than Microsoft advised that its tweaked Xbox 360 controller is not yet destined for mass distribution. While confirming an October 24 release date with Eurogamer, the publisher noted that the new controller, sporting an "optimized" and not-entirely-awful d-pad, will be released as a Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 tie-in product. As such, it will be "a limited edition promotional item that is only available in Europe, Asia and Latin America while supplies last."

It's also a revolting green.

We've contacted Microsoft in the hopes of ascertaining its US plans for the improved controller, if any.

Radio Shack Confirms 360 Price Cuts?

Way back on Aug. 1 we posted on the rumor that the Xbox 360 was getting across-the-board price cuts, knocking the hard-drive-less Arcade down to $199, the 60GB Pro to $299 and the 120GB Elite to $399.

Reader Patrick sent in these pictures this morning of the Radio Shack circular for the week starting Sept. 7 which appears to verify at least two of those prices: The Elite for $400 and the Arcade for $200.

Rumor: Kmart flyer shows Sept. 7 Xbox 360 price drop

kmartpricedrop.jpg

An image showing up on several forums (including QJ.net and HighDefDigest) allegedly shows the Sept.7 Kmart flyer featuring the expected rumored Xbox 360 price cut. This latest ad comes a week after a Radio Shack flyer featured similar information.

If this Xbox 360 price cut plays out anything like the one from last month, we'll continue receiving a steady stream of retail ad and system confirmations without a word from Microsoft until the 11th hour. Expect another gallery post with all the retail information if that's what happens.

Xbox 360 Fall Update Coming Out In November

RPG-TV got a briefing last week on the Xbox Live Experience and was told that the Fall dashboard update would be hitting in November, i.e. this fall. Makes sense to me. Before I start sounding too glib, while the fall update has routinely landed in November, an update of this size could have theoretically been pushed back to later in the year. So it is nice to have Microsoft telling some on the record that we can expect our sexy new look and deeper features in three months or so. Preview of New Xbox Experience + LIPS [RPG-TV]

LOL rain check = delay.

Like if you have to cancel a date you say "rain check" and it means you postpone it until another time but will still be doing it, do you watch no American TV shows ever? ;)

Tim not into comedy's if they said it in something like High School Musical he would have known ;))

Just wanted to quickly post to say I've had my first 'warranty' test of my 360. Video card went bonkers then shut off. Only 10 days between initial call and receiving fully functioning unit. Pretty good, though it shouldn't damn well break in the first year anyway IMO.

Do any of you guys use fans to keep the system cool? Apparently that's what we went wrong - my video card actually fried. Jeesh.

Probably mentioned already, but hell!, an Arcade for £99!? It doesn't even seem long ago when the 360 was released! There are seriously so few games out since its launch compared to the PS1 and PS2.
