Microsoft Xbox 360

I've a UK "Halo Edition" Xbox 360, is there any way to play USA Xbox 360 games on it ? Is there anything like a swap magic disk or an action replay card which lets you use foreign games ?

If I can't does anyone have any tips on the best place to sell USA games in the UK ?

Thanks.

There is nothing you can do that will make the 360 hardware region free.. Some publishers release games with no region lock while others do..

I thought all USA games were region locked on Xbox 360 ?

Nope lots of NTSC-U games are region free, or they work on PAL but lock out NTSC-J for example, EA are one of the few publishers who region lock every title, unfortunately.

I assume if they're not region locked they'll work fine, and if they are they won't work at all ??

Exactly, there's plenty of DB's online which list games and their region coding such as:

Ace Combat 6 = not PAL
C&C3 Kane's Wr. = not PAL
Don King Prizefigher = YES
Frontlines FoW = YES
PGR 3 = NO
Godfather = not PAL

...well I guess 2 out of 6 aint too bad :(

CEX buys US games for consoles, otherwise you can look for a local Indy or possibly try selling them on ebay or on AVForums or NTSC Forums.

Two new demos are available on the Xbox Live Marketplace today, allowing you to sample Alone in the Dark and Wall-E.

That was from yesterday

Alone in the dark would be a great game but the controls are fucking awful.

It's not awful, it's a NIGHTMARE ! You have to replay all the scenes 30 times before doing it right.

Yesterday while playing a game of COD on my 360, I got the three red rings of death, so I turned off my 360, and turned it back on and it worked, I kept playing that night and just came off just now without a problem.

Was there any kind of power cut/drop in your area? I had three rings 2 times a few weeks ago and both times it coincided with power drops in the town (my wife told me at the same time half the PC's in her office went off and half stayed on). The 360 is very sensitive to changes in the electrical supply, it's not uncommon for the 360 to go off but all other appliances stay on, as happened with me.

Well I noticed after it happened the plug to the socket was very loose, however, correct me if I'm wrong, if there is a plug not in properly there would be 4 red lights?

And as far as I'm aware, there was no power cut/drop.

It's possible that the slightest movement of the plug caused the current to drop for a fraction of a second, that could well be enough to cause "general hardware failure" which is what 3 red lights indicates I believe?

Shops should be getting them in very soon, tis just a case of them looking to shift their stock of 20's first, seeing they are all meant to be at that price point. Elite does come with an HDMI cable and a audio splitter if you have an amp, which MS charge 35 quid for normally. I have an Elite and havent filled half of the HDD yet.

Dell.com: $299 Xbox 360 Elite, 2 games, 2 faceplates

If you're stlll Xbox 360-less and looking for a deal, then don't bother with the $299 clearance-sale 20GB Xbox 360 ... or the new $349 60GB 360 for that matter. Dell.com has the $450 Xbox 360 Elite for the low, low price of $299. But that's not all! If you act now (or, presumably, at any point between now and when they inevitably sell out) you'll also get copies of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Forza 2, along with two rather unseemly faceplates.

Braid is an artistic and emotional masterpiece cleverly packaged in the form of a 2D puzzle/platformer. Its an experience that should not be missed. For 1200 MS Points its the best game on Xbox LIVE Arcade and one of the best 2D platform games of recent time. Dare I say it perhaps one of the greatest games of all time? I guess time will tell.

:)

@Placebo, What it has done is actually changed the kernel back to what the first ever retail 360 was at,so it is basically a downgrade.

It is in preparation for the big one like you say,Where I presume it needs a less security strict environment.

God, I sound like a nerd...

my 360 just got the RROD, I called M$ and they told me to unplug all wires and put them back, I did and all is fine (I guess). I wanted to know is this the begining of the end and should I send it off? also, would I be able to replace my 360 @ my local Game store?

Are you sure it was 3 red rings? or 4? If one of your cables are lose the Xbox will send you a signal (4 rings), which is harmless. However, if it was 3 rings and your 360 still works, you got the same thing as me (3 days ago). And you cannot get your 360 replaced at a local shop, you must let MS replace it or fix it. But you can get it fixed at certain shops, but I highly suggest you get it fixed through MS.

unless I totally blind (HEHE) im sure it was 3 lights but they were not flashing, anyhoo, I was thinking of trading in my current console for an Elite, is this actually worth it, I ask because I hear the Elites have no RROD. Is your 360 still working?

I got my rrod 360 replaced with a new one. Only I offered to pay extra and get a ps3, they refused. Dammit.

Crazy - my gamestation allowed me to swap - the way i saw it was my 360 had broke yet again so if i had got my money back id have just got the ps3 instead with that so cut the middle part out and lets swap now.

Why wouldn't they let you get your money back? Was it out of warranty? Mine always broke down on me after a few months of use so maybe thats why they allowed me to swap as id hardly had a new one and it would brake, then id get another new one and that would brake.

Yes I was out of warranty but they got it replaced because I was still under Microsoft's 3 year rrod warranty. Still I don't get why they wouldn't let me? I saw them open a new 360 box, pull out the new 360 and gave it to me. Why not keep it in and just give me a ps3 instead? All he said was it is something to do with the distributor without explaining. Bah anyway...

Good thing is, I got a new 360 with a new 1 year warranty like I just bought it.
